The amount of Pride and Prejudice inspired Austenesque novels published in 2013 is so staggering, it would have been too overwhelming to put them all together in one list. Thanks to the helpful advice of Jakki Leatherberry, I’ve broken them up into 3 lists!
- Author’s Last Name (A-L)
- Author’s Last Name (M-Z)
- Novels That Were Only Published as eBooks
So today’s list is the first of 3! If you are wondering why a Pride and Prejudice inspired novel that was published in 2013 isn’t on this list, chances are it is on one of the other two. If there is a novel you know belongs on this list (has to be published in paperback) and you don’t see it, let me know! With so many novels coming out weekly, it is hard to remember or find them all!

Thank you so much for this list, Meredith, and for the hard work that went into assembling it. I’m constantly reading Austenesque novels – I’m looking at three shelves of them right now – but only a few of mine are on your list. So, I’m looking forward to List 2 and List 3 – to cover all the bases! I thought I was familiar with Austen authors, but lots of new names here as well.
Suggestions? Susannah Fullerton’s work, absolutely. I also recommend Jeffers, Lathan and Altman. I’ve not read any Jack Caldwell – yet: I have a copy of “The Companion of his Future Life” is my get to pile.

I think the total of Pride and Prejudice inspired novels totals around 150 for 2013! Quite a big year! And this doesn’t include all the nonfiction, non Pride and Prejudice novels!
Great list Meredith! I have read 4 of the books on your list. I highly recommend ‘The Mysterious Death of Mr. Darcy’ by Regina Jeffers and ‘The Passions of Dr. Darcy’ by Sharon Lathan. I just finished reading all three of Nancy Kelley’s ‘Brides of Pemberley’. You will definitely enjoy ‘Against His Will’ as Montgomery is delightful. The only issue I had was it wasn’t long enough! I’d love to see more written on these wonderful comrades of Colonel Fitzwilliam!

As an unapologetic list-maker, I admire you for doing this, but suspect you love to do it. But my goodness, so many books! About 150 this year! No wonder the number of brand-new and unread novels on my Kindle seems to have increased exponentially each time I finish a book. And there are some great new ones coming out soon, too! Thank you so much for creating these lists for us readers to explore.
