A Comprehensive Guide to Austenesque Novels – Pride and Prejudice 2017 (Part 1)

ACG

Hi friends!  2017 was a big year for Austenesque fiction!!  I’m astounded by the number of books I see published each month, aren’t you?  Woot woot!  It is exciting though, definitely a sign that Austenesque fiction isn’t going anywhere soon. 😉

Here is the MEGA list of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE books published in 2017 – PART 1!  There will be a PART 2 for this list, or else, could you imagine how long this list would be?  Oi!  The PART 2 section of the list is for works that were only published as ebooks or are 100 pages or less in length.  So if you don’t see a title on this list, chances are in might be on the next one.  But if you think I’m missing any, do let me know! 😉

Did you make it all the way to the bottom of this list? 😉

If counted correctly, there are 226 titles in this list!  And how many have I read? 43…yikes!  I have some catching up to do!!!  😉

How many have you read, friends?

Any you’d recommend to me and other readers?

  1. That is a great list, I love the color key. It will certainly increase my TBR file! One question – are most of these (and all JAFF) self published? Asking as an author, I am completing revisions on my “sequel” which is Kitty’s story.

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you like the Key, I was debating doing that as I didn’t know if anyone really used it. I believe majority are self-published. There are several published by an indie publisher, Meryton Press, and I know Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe was released through a traditional publisher, but I think the rest are all self-published, which is amazing! That’s awesome to hear you are writing a Kitty story! I can’t wait to learn more about it!

  2. A great list Meredith and thank you for doing it! This is such a handy index for those of us who want to do more JAFF reading!!

    1. Thanks for checking out my list and for your kind words, Amy! It was a lot more hours than I was expecting to put this one all together (and that is with me adding books each month ahead of time.

  3. What would we do without you keeping up with this. Thank you for compiling the titles. Man… I need to get busy.

  4. Whew! That is a monster list. I do love perusing it. I went back and counted. I’ve read seven and have nine on my stack to read. And then there is the huge group of ones I will eventually read. You’re right. We’ll never lack for Austenesque with this much being published. 🙂

Thanks for putting this together, Meredith!

    1. Thanks for checking out my list, Sophia! It will be a large task to put a dent into this one! I’m still catching up on books from 2016 and earlier! 😉

  5. Omigosh, your listing mania is running wild! Thank you for this wonderful service to the Austenesque community.

  6. I’ll never be able to read them all! That is a long list! I have read 32 of them though! As for recommendations, Nicole Clarkston’s, These Dreams, is amazing, Don Jacobson’s, The Exile: and Lizzy Bennet Meets the Countess, Maria Grace’s…all of them, Leenie Brown…all of them, Caitlin Williams, When We Are Married, J. Dawn King and Jennifer Joy’s, J.L. Ashton’s, Linda Beutler to name the ones I have read…along with some of them I haven’t but want want to! Thank you for pulling all of these together!

    1. That’s amazing, Carole! You are definitely keep up to date better than I am! I so appreciate your recommendations! I have several that you mentioned on my wishlist, and I’m so looking forward to reading These Dreams next month – can’t wait! Our favorite authors sure have been keeping busy this past year!

  7. My tally for this list: 19 read, at least 21 on my TBR list and so many more on my Wish List!

There’s one notable missing item – Dangerous to Know: Jane Austen’s Rakes and Gentleman Rogues edited by Christina Boyd.

As to recommendations? You seem to have read most of my favourites but of those you haven’t, there’s all of Jennifer Joy’s, Joy King’s, Maria Grace’s dragons and Victoria Kincaid’s President Darcy.

    1. That’s a great tally, Anji! Great job keeping up.

Oh, I definitely didn’t forget that one! It is one of my favorites from 2017! But since this list is for P&P novels, I chose not to include that one since it only has 1 P&P story – same with the Holidays with Jane series. Those stories are listed on the anthology list though – https://austenesquereviews.com/2016/06/comprehensive-guide-austenesque-anthologies-box-sets.html

Love your recommendations! Thank you, I just finished President Darcy this morning! <3 <3 Loved it!

      1. Yes, I couldn’t believe how well President Darcy worked as a modern JAFF tale, especially from my side of the pond!

Re DtK: I just did a face palm! Of course, there’s only the words “Pride and Prejudice” right at the top of your post!

        1. No worries! It’s easy to forget that this list is just P&P, it is so massive you’d think it includes all books, but nope it is just P&P! Can’t imagine making a list with all 2017 books!?!

    1. Aghhhhhhh!!! I’m so sorry! I swear it was on this list! I wouldn’t have forgotten it. I’m guessing with 33 revisions I may have accidentally deleted it at some point, because I know I saw it! Not sure how that happened! I am so terribly sorry, Melanie! I’ve added it now. Thank you so much for letting me know!

  8. Wow! That’s a boatload! I’ve read exactly none of them, although that’s on purpose. Since I write JAFF, I rarely read it, not wanting to be accidentally influenced by other authors’ ideas. 🙂

  9. Always love your lists and the index and am amazed at what I know is a great amount of time and effort you put into doing this for all of us. Thank you. I didn’t take time to count which ones I read as I read close to 300 books and sometimes can’t remember the titles unless I went back and checked on each one. I did read a number of unpublished ones so those would not be on your list. Thank you for sharing with all of us. Fantastic job!

  10. Thanks for this humongous list Meredith! I love the coding too. And I thought I was reading lots of variations lol. Lots more to look forward to!

  11. What a lot of work, Meredith. What a list….and more to come!!? (Jaw drop) I’ve only read a handful from this list, have another handful on my TBR, and a couple two or three on the ol’ mountainous wish list. Even though I know I’ll never get to most of these, ouch, I’m still very grateful for the lists and all the work that goes into them. Putting the list in front of me helps me refine the wish list by not forgetting some.

  12. I am so behind on my JAFF reading!! I feel a little overwhelmed sometimes with everything else that I want to read. Work just gets in the way! Thank you for always keeping us updated on what is out there. Your reviews are helpful when selecting a book to read/buy.

  13. I always look forward to your list, Meredith. I think you missed out Mary Bennet and the Longbourn Heiress (Mary of Longbourn, Book 1) if I’m not mistaken as I see there are Books 2, 3 and 4 but not the first book.

    1. Sorry to bother you again, Meredith. I don’t see Rachel Elizabeth’s Jewels on the Water which is Book 1 in A Song of Songs series but the second book is included.

    2. I think you missed out three books by Meg Osborne which are 2 books in A Convenient Marriage series and Mr. Darcy’s Christmas Carol. I am pretty sure that’s all.

    3. Wow! Thanks, Sylvia! It’s great to know that another person looked my list over carefully to help me find what I missed. With how long I know it takes me to make these lists, I really appreciate your time checking them out for any mistakes. I’m glad to add the 5 I was missing. Mr. Darcy’s Christmas Carol by Meg Osborne is on part 2 of the list. Thanks again!

  14. I’ve just read a great austenesque fantasy novel by Wayne Tyson called “Pride and Perpetration” – it definitely falls into the fantasy category, but it’s a very funny read and is true to all the central characters And their relationships. It was the perfect holiday read. I can’t wait for the next sequel!
