Cover Reveal + Giveaway for Character and Countenance!!!

Hi friends! Guess what? MJ Stratton is visiting today to share the lovely cover for her upcoming release – Character and Countenance – with us! 😃

I’m so excited to have MJ visit because I read and reviewed The Lake House at Ramsgate by her just last week and loved it. 📖

And I’m thrilled that we can anticipate more from MJ coming out soon! 🙌🏼

Anyways, this cover reveal is for an intriguing new Pride and Prejudice variation by MJ Stratton –Character and Countenance!! ✨

~ Book Description ~

Elizabeth Bennet has led a quiet life in Hertfordshire. Longbourn, her home since birth, hardly feels welcoming given the less-than-loving treatment bestowed by her stepmother, half-sisters, and more recently, her most beloved stepsister, Jane. With plans to partake in the season with their mother’s family, Elizabeth and Mary anticipate the moment when they can go where they are wanted. When three handsome gentlemen arrive, Elizabeth discovers that appearances are not everything, and a handsome face does not readily reveal the qualities—good or bad—that lie within.

Fitzwilliam Darcy did not come to Meryton to fall in love. Despite his best efforts, the beguiling sister of Bingley’s latest angel fascinates him, drawing him in with her fine eyes and pert opinions. Every natural feeling protests against uniting the Darcy name with someone so beneath him, and he flees Hertfordshire before he falls further under her spell. Fate has other plans, and despite his best efforts, Elizabeth is thrown in his path once more. But all is not as it seems, and when Elizabeth’s true circumstances are revealed, Mr. Darcy must decide if he can become a man worthy of her or lose her to another.

In this low-angst, sweet and clean Pride and Prejudice variation, Elizabeth’s fortunes and connections grant her a brighter future, and Darcy must endeavor to deserve her.

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: April 1st)

So gorg! So elegant! 😍

Let’s talk about how stunning Elizabeth is – her hairstyle, that necklace, those black gloves, the Spencer jacket – who is dressing you, Lizzy, my girl!?! 👠

Step-mother and half-siblings? I’m excited to explore the new sibling and family dynamics with these Bennets – especially as it sounds like Mary might be a little bit closer to Elizabeth. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

Ooh! I wonder what are Elizabeth’s true circumstances….? 😮

What do you think, friends? 🤔

  1. Oh, this sounds so exciting. I love the trope where Elizabeth is not what Darcy thinks. Especially when she had connections many don’t know about. That is so much fun when Darcy learns he just disrespected the wrong person. I love that cover. Meredith, you have the best job being the first to see covers. I love MJ’s work and look forward to reading this. Good luck to all in the drawing.

  2. It’s a shame it’s a Rafflecopter giveaway as I don’t enter those. Nevertheless I do love this cover, the gorgeous dress etc and the Elizabeth is not a Bennet scenario, especially as Mary now seems to be closer to her than Jane. I want to see Darcy’s reaction when he discovers her origins. I’ve added this to my list.

  3. Lovely cover. Good luck with the release. I already had this on my Wish List but thank y ou for a chance to win a copy.

  4. I LOVE that spencer! I’d wear that! It’s a beautiful cover…the colors are eye catching and “Elizabeth” is beautiful. Elizabeth not belonging to Mrs Bennet, or not being a Bennet at all is my favorite trope. Congratulations on this new release, MJ. Can’t wait to read it!

  5. I’m always a bit way of Unkind Jane because in canon she is always so kind and unpretentious, however, I am looking forward to reading this take. I always love a “Elizabeth gets judged for her family’s status and it comes back to bite Darcy in the ass” trope.

  6. Love the Cover. And a favorite trope, too. Now on the TBR list. Thank you, MJ Stratton for sharing your talents with us.

Rafflecopter not recognizing my info today. Not sure if it’s their glitch or mine.

  7. I love the trope where Elizabeth is either equal to or above Darcy in consequence, and he has to prove himself worthy of her love instead of walking around like she’s beneath him.

  8. I love, love, love this type of story!!!! So glad Mary is her full sister against what appears to be a hostile home. Looking forward to reading more!

  9. Definitely a premise I haven’t seen before. I want to know all the details, and how this family arrangement came about so differently than in canon.

  10. Lovely cover and intriguing premise. One of my favorite tropes is when one of the characters has a change in circumstances from canon which in this story seems to be the case with Elizabeth. Look forward to finding out more.

  11. I have been watching for the release with anticipation. I too, like the trope where Elizabeth is other than Darcy expects.
The cover is lovely, almost like a photo face on an illustration.

  12. I agree with Meredith about the cover. Interesting premise with Elizabeth being a step sister. My favorite troupe – forced marriage.

  13. The cover is arresting. The first thing I noticed were her eyes–the way they shine. I wonder what she is thinking? Congrats on publishing a new book. I happily anticipate reading it.
