What If Elizabeth Finally Discovers Her Father’s Family and Her Whole Life Changes?
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Source: Gift from Publisher
TYPE OF NOVEL: Pride and Prejudice Variation
THE PREMISE:
Elizabeth has always known she was the orphaned cousin to the Bennet family, and that her father’s name and family were unknown (thanks to documents that went missing/presumed lost in a fire). But when Mr. Bennet finds the misplaced letter from his departed sister, Elizabeth is finally able to find the answers to the questions that she has long-since held in her heart. The only questions remain are will her father’s estranged family accept her? And how will this new discovery change her life…?
MY THOUGHTS:
🧑🧑🧒🧒 I always enjoy exploring the impact and dynamic changes when Elizabeth is not a Bennet. How was her life growing up? How were her relationships between the Bennet girls and Mr. and Mrs. Bennet different. However, in this variation, there wasn’t as much alteration. It seems like the Bennets adopted Elizabeth and treated her just the same – there was disconnect, emotional challenges, or feelings of not belonging.
✍🏼 I was immediately drawn in with this premise and Mr. Bennet’s discovery of a long lost letter. Elizabeth is on the precipice of a very new and life-changing chapter in her life. However, it seems like Elizabeth’s course in this new chapter progresses without any troubles. Some might find the absence of conflict or antagonists very refreshing…while some might find it to be a little implausible given Elizabeth’s circumstances and the magnitude of change she experienced.
💍 I loved the story of Elizabeth’s parents and their romantic relationship. This new development felt very plausible for these characters and also for the time period. I love that Elizabeth was born into such a happy union. Like Elizabeth, I was eager to learn all I could about the Sterlings and their lives.
🫶🏼 This story will give your heart all the warm, cozy feelings you could ask for. It is lovely to witness how Elizabeth is embraced by her new family. There is so much acceptance, devotion, and genuine care between Elizabeth and her new aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, this story is taking place during the festive season, so there is even more feelings of gratitude, celebration, and good cheer.
🎩 Elizabeth’s relationship with Mr. Darcy began its usual way. And when Mr. Darcy learned of Elizabeth’s true parentage it removed any impediment for him to follow his heart. There really wasn’t any conflict or challenges involved. In fact, it felt like their union was presupposed and approved of by everyone – almost as a foregone conclusion. A lot of the page time was spent discussing future travel plans and social events. I wished for more romance, more relationship development, more emotions engaged.

Such an interesting premise. Thank you!
