Austenesque Agenda – October 2016

AA

Hi readers!!  I hope you are doing well!  Anything new and exciting happening for you?

I don’t have much to report here.  Mr. Bingley has been playing in bands a lot and I’ve been busy with new students (we get a lot at this time of year.) 🙂  It looks like both of us have a busier work schedule now and it sometimes takes a little bit of time to adjustment to that. 🙂

We got quite use to our schedules from the summer and the amount of time we were able to spend together.  But now it is a little hard since Mr. Bingley might be working or traveling on the weekends when I’m off.  Happily though, I was able to come and see a couple of Mr. Bingley’s gigs this past month and that was fun!

Other than that, the big events of this past month were my blog turning 7! (I still can’t believe how lucky I am to be doing this for 7 years!)

And going to see Bridget Jones’s Baby with my mom. 🙂

Which we loved!  Bridget’s opening lip-sync song was fab, Bridget was wonderfully adorable, and Mark was amazing!  I would definitely recommend!

  1. Looks like we’ll be reading and reviewing some of the same books this month. I do hope you love The Elizabeth Papers and A Moment Forever as much as I did!

    1. Great, Anna! I look forward to comparing thoughts with you. 🙂 I’m excited about those two in particular, I’ve heard so many wonderful things!

  2. I have read about half of the books you are going to feature and look forward to your opinion of the others! Nothing more fun than to watch someone you love perform. I know that when my son used to be on stage with a band, I loved going to see him. 🙂

    1. That’s great, Brenda! I hope you enjoyed the ones you read. 🙂 It is great to watch someone you love at work. I hear the same songs each time, but I never get tired of them. I also love watching all the peoples’ reactions to the music, and think about how it is making them happy. Also there is a lot of dancing at these gigs which is fun to watch as well. 😀

  3. Hi Meredith,
I understand you very well when you say you have a busy time and that is difficult to schedule plans because of the work. At least, we have weekends but they pass so soon LOL!. Congrats for your 7 years blog!, it takes a lot of effort (I know it since I´m writing my own blog for almost 2 years!) and you keep the same enthusiasm 🙂
I like your October agenda and look forward to reading your review of Lory Lilian as well as the short stories of “Holidays with Jane” because it´s fun to deep in the mood of Halloween.
Speaking of my reading list, now I´m reading “Mr Darcy came to dinner” by Jack Caldwell and I´m having fun with the story, I like its sense of humour 😉
    Happy October!

    1. Yes! I love weekends, Teresa! I don’t really ever work on them unless I have a concert. But sometimes they do feel too fast!

That’s wonderful that you’ve been blogging for almost 2 years! It is something I never regret doing, I love connecting with readers and chatting with so many people across the world like yourself. 🙂

I should post my review of The Rainbow Promise tomorrow, need to edit it a bit some more. I’m excited for some short stories. I really have come to love short story anthologies!

Oh that book is so much fun! I love the sense of humor in that one! Great choice and happy reading!

Hope you have a lovely October!

  4. Happy reading Meredith. Obviously I love Lory’s books so I know you will love that. I look forward to your reviews of The Elizabeth Papers and A Moment Forever. I have all Cat’s other books and they have been read and re-read. I can’t wait for the sequel to Denial of Conscience but so far I haven’t got this one as it isn’t about Darcy and Elizabeth but I am definitely thinking about it and look forward to your opinion. I will also be busy knitting cardigans and crocheting cot blankets for my twin baby grandsons ready for when they are able to come out of hospital. My other two grandsons live in Australia so don’t need so much knitwear but do have their own cot blankets. Congratulations on doing this for 7 years and long may you continue.

    1. Hi Glynis! I’m looking forward to A Moment Forever especially knowing how passionate Cat Gardiner is about the WWII era. I love her writing style and a the little touches she puts into her stories. I’m looking forward to reading it and reviewing it here even though it isn’t considered Austenesque. I agree with you though, I cannot wait for the sequel of Denial of Conscience!!!

I hope your twin baby grandsons are doing well! How lovely that you are knitting and crocheting items for them! I’m sure they look utterly adorable! I hope they will be able to come home soon!

Thank you so much for the kind words, my friend! I will definitely continue as long as I have visits from great people like you!

  5. Gosh Meredith you’re so like your Mum!! I soooo look forward to your review of A Moment Forever. I loved it!! Read it as an ARC (my very first one), so felt a bit under pressure. I’ll read it again at my leisure whenever that will be 🙂

  6. Some great books there Meredith. Looking forward to your reviews. I am off to a wedding tomorrow in Whitby which is a beautiful quaint coastal village. Love seeing Mr Bingley playing at his gigs. How is his back now?

    1. Hi Michelle! I’m very excited about my upcoming reviews this month! How lovely to be traveling to such a lovely spot for a wedding! I hope you have fun! We will be doing the same at the end of the month!! Can’t wait! Mr. Bingley feels no back pain! It is amazing, we are very blessed that he feels back to normal!

  7. Again congratulations on 7 years Meredith! Mr. Bingley looks as if he is having a great time up there on stage. I can’t wait to see the new Bridget Jones movie but may have to wait until it’s on dvd as I’m off to Ireland/N.Ireland for 3 weeks next Friday! A tour with my sister of the southwest of Ireland and then a family wedding in N. Ireland and seeing relatives. Looking forward to the adventure tour as I hope to be able to sea kayak and horseback ride along with the hiking. I look forward to your review of the Elizabeth Papers as I absolutely loved it! I also read and enjoyed Rose Fairbanks Sufficient Encouragement. The rest you have posted I still need and want to read. Have a great month!

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! He does have a great time when he plays! He really loves doing it!

How lucky you are to be going to Ireland!!! I’m so happy for you! What a great long trip! And you will be seeing family and doing some adventurous things too! Love it!!

Have a fantastic time!!! And please do share some details with us when you return!

  8. That’s great that you both are working hard, but it can be frustrating when your shifts are different. We’ve had that most of the time in our marriage too with me working days and my husband on afternoons and midnights.

Oh, some good books for you to read this month. I’ve got Lory’s, Suzan’s, and the antho books to read, too. I already enjoyed Cat’s and Beau and Brooke’s books.

Look forward to the author visits and your reviews.

    1. We had this happen last year too. I guess we just got spoiled with the extra time together in summer! 😉 But we make it work!

So glad to hear you enjoyed the books you’ve read and I look forward to comparing thoughts with you on the others! 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful month, Sophia!

  9. It looks like a wonderful lineup and I’m happy you and Mr. Bingley had lots of fun during the summer months to sustain you during cooler weather that’s heading our way. I’m still posting my first long WIP over on Brenda’s forum. Speaking of music .. the title is called “Darcy’s Melody.” Lizzy sings and I recorded quite a few of her songs and have the YouTube links in my story. Thanks again for your wonderful blog and all of the support you give to the JAFF community. 7 years is AWESOME! Jen Red ♫

    1. Thank you, Jennifer! I’m excited for this month. I love that your JAFF story is music related! And the title is just lovely! I’ll have to look for the videos, do you have any plans to publish the story?

Thank you so much for all the kind words!

  10. Congratulations on 7 years, Meredith. And glad to hear your busy – My husband always says that the only thing worse than being busy is not being busy….as you would be out of work!

I look forward to reading Trick or Sweet and Regina’s remake of Darcy as a vampire, Vampire Darcy’s Desire this month. I have read all but Sufficient Encouragement of the books you list above. So I will look for your comments on that one. Thanks for your continued uptakes and lists. Always and forever a big help.

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! 🙂 It is good to be busy and that is definitely a good sign for my studio and for Mr. Bingley, but I always hate that feeling of not getting time to do everything I need to (not to mention the things I want to!!)

Great choices for this month! I’ve not read Vampire Darcy’s Desire and will be curious to know what you think! 😉

  11. I enjoyed Holidays With Jane: Trick or Sweet! Not a favourite (the Christmas book is the best one in my opinion, though I haven’t read the latest one), but it’s definitely a good read for this month! 😉

I can’t wait to read your thoughts about Cat Gardiner’s book! I have it and plan to read it very soon. I was waiting for the weather to be colder since it’s a very long book and I like reading those when it’s very cold outside. 😛

I’m also very curious to know more about Beau North, Brooke West and Suzan Lauder’s books. Such an interesting month on Austenesque Reviews! 😀
