Austenesque Reviews Wrapped – 2024 Summary and Stats!!!

2024 was a fantastic year for traveling and a very busy year for work…and partially feel like my poor blog suffered some neglect because of it. 🫢

I’m excited to spend some time thinking about and analyzing all that took place here on Austenesque Reviews in 2024! 👀

Let’s take a look at this year’s numbers for 2024 on Austenesque Reviews and see how they compare with last year’s. 📊

~ Posts ~

  • Total # of Blog Posts for 2024– 167 (1 more than last year.)

I’m a little surprised by this, it felt like 2024 was a much busier year for both my personal and work life. But I’m glad this number is at least consistent! 😅

Wow! Color me surprised! Again, I thought my busy personal and work life would impact this.  🙌🏼

  • Total # of Different Authors Read in 2024 – 49 (16 for the first time! Hello new authors!)

Very happy about 16 new authors read this year! That’s almost 33%.  😮

  • Here are the authors I’ve read most in 2024:

9 individual works- Amy D’Orazio

7 individual works – Jessie Lewis

4 individual works – Riana Everly

3 individual works – Jan Ashton, Julie Cooper, MJ Stratton

I am all astonishment! I am again higher in number than last year! I like the evenness between excerpts and cover reveals – those are my favorite type of Author Posts.

~ Reading ~

A little bump in my Non-Austenesque reads. I would like to see that continue in 2025.

Very slight changes compared to last year, small decreases for variations and sequels and increases in moderns, prequels, secondary character stories.

I love the amount of Emma, Mansfield Park, and Sense and Sensibility books this year, but oops! looks like I neglected Northanger Abbey!

Majority of the year was with the current years’ new releases – higher than in years past.

Wow – the number of 5 stars ratings I gave out decreased a bit and my overall average rating also decreased. I’m continuing to become more and more selective…

A lot of average ratings went down this year – Variations, Modern, Sequel, Austen-Inspired. But a few went up – Prequels, Non-Austenesque.

Here is a new chart I thought would be fun to create – a look at the trends for the last 5 years at a glance.

We can see how the number of Reviews, Blog Posts, and Author Features have changed through the years. and also the percentage of books reviewed were Austenesque and related to Pride and Prejudice.

I think I would like to see the % of Austenesque reads and Pride and Prejudice reads decrease a little for 2025.

And the Average Rating increase!

What about you?
What reading trends or changes did you have?

    1. My inner Anne Eliot is always pushing me to read a wider range of books. Have you read Ghosted by Amanda Quain? NA gender swap! I loved her Dashed(Margaret Dashwood) this year.

  1. Interesting stats, Meredith! Thank you for all the support you continue to give to authors in the Austenesque community and beyond. Happy New Year – wishing you all the best in 2025.

  2. Wow! I don’t know how you find the time to do all this. I’m still concentrating on books about Darcy and Elizabeth, any era is good but they need to be the stars. I’ve actually read many, many books this year including a vast number of rereads. So many fabulous books by wonderful authors, they deserve to be enjoyed over and over. I am trying to work my way through my TBR pile as well but there are so many great new releases that it’s hard. Thank you for all your wonderful posts and wishing you and yours a very happy New Year 🙂

  3. I like your stats and enjoy so much your categories, it’s amazing the amount of numbers you give and I appreciate a lot the effort you make in your blog I know you enjoy it, of course, but it’s a hard work every of us enjoy thanks to your generosity
Most of my readings are non- austenesque but this year my amount of austenesque books have increased a lot so I’m really glad.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year full of health, joy, good company and great readings

  4. Amazing numbers/stats! They may have slipped a little but still you’ve been super busy. Impressive nonetheless. I noticed your most read stories are by authors I favorite as well. FUN . Here’s to 2025 and some delicious reads!

  5. Love your stats, Meredith. You are so creative. I look forward to the new year. I was busy with church activities and read less in 2024 than the previous year. There are so many new books coming out that I can’t keep up. Blessings for 2025.

  6. Those are great numbers! Thank you so much. I just want to tell you I love your blog. Your reviews often help me decide whether I want to read a book.
One story: Your review of “Mansfield Letters” intrigued me. I felt that since you were not sure the eBook was legitimate, that I would search out another copy. Sellers on eBay, Alibris etc. wanted an amazing amount of money, but I found it on Open Library and was able to read it for free. I would never have heard of it if you had not reviewed it.

  7. I enjoy seeing your totals and end of the year stats. Pretty amazing considering how busy you’ve been. Have a great 2025!

  8. I look forward to this end of year post as part of the recap of the blog I love the most. The numbers are satisfying. It tells me my favorite genre is genuine and here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future. I certainly cannot read all the new books that come out each month, but I am (almost) able to read all the books you review and showcase as cover reveals or excepts. We all feel very connected to your blog for many reasons. This is our opportunity to tell you that your hard work is loved and appreciated.

Happy New Year to you and all of your readers, Meredith. Here’s to wonderful travels, lovely book experiences, health and happiness in 2025. <<< Can you believe we are typing that number?

  9. Well Meredith thank you for all your hard work . Happy New year to everyone on this blog its fabulous to read everyone’s feedback . May 2025 bring joy health and happiness to all .

  10. You’ve done an amazing job bringing so many fabulous books to my attention. I reached a new goal myself this year…225 ebooks read in 2024. (Doesn’t count audiobooks, which unfortunately I didn’t make a count of). Anyway, I have found many delicious reads via your blog which I’m really grateful for. And also love the guest author contributions. It’s fun to know their thoughts. Thanks so much!
