Cover Reveal + Giveaway for Rising Courage!!!

Hi friends! I don’t know about you, but the one thing my 2024 is missing is a new release from Heather Moll. 😄

But lucky for us, we don’t have to wait too far into the year for a new book from Heather, because she has a new Pride and Prejudice variation coming out next month! 🤗  After enjoying her previous works Loving Miss Tilney, An Appearance of Goodness, and Mr. Darcy’s Valentine in 2023 – I cannot wait to see what Heather writes next!

Heather is here to share the beautiful cover reveal of her upcoming release – Rising Courage!  We hope you enjoy! 🙌🏼

~ From the Author ~

Thank you for the warm welcome! Can you believe is my eighth cover reveal at Austenesque Reviews? I’m thrilled to be here to share the cover to Rising Courage.

I started plotting this book by thinking about tropes in general and the JAFF tropes I like—and the ones I hadn’t focused on yet. I love a good forced proximity scenario, and I’m a sucker for a well-done kidnapping plot. While researching another book, I came across a reference to violent Georgia-era smugglers and apparently Kent and Sussex were huge smuggling centers.

As soon as I read that, I thought, “Hmm. I know some characters in Kent…”

So that’s how I got to Darcy and Elizabeth being kidnapped by smugglers the day after Darcy proposes… but before he can deliver the letter.

Evelyne Labelle of Carpe Librum Cover Design designed Rising Courage’s cover. She’s a master at what she does and I’m so lucky to work with her. I talked to her about the action and romantic tension, and that there were a few scenes with a carriage. I wanted Darcy and Elizabeth to be touching since they spend nearly the entire book together, but not embracing in a clinch cover style.

I think she did a phenomenal job capturing the mood! Darcy and Elizabeth are back to back, ready to face all the dangers together. It’s so intense but still hints at the building romance.

Can Darcy and Elizabeth fix their cascade of misunderstandings to find happily ever after?

~ Book Description ~

An insulting proposal. A band of criminals. Can they fight off their kidnappers and find their way to happily ever after?

Elizabeth Bennet is seething. Firmly refusing an offer of marriage from the man who ruined her beloved sister’s chance at happiness, the spirited young lady goes walking to clear her head. But her anger changes to fear when three strange men who believe she’s Anne de Bourgh throw her unceremoniously into a carriage and drive off.

Fitzwilliam Darcy regrets his offensive proposal. But when he chases down the object of his affection to set the story straight, he is horrified to witness her kidnapping. And after his gallant rescue endeavor merely gets him captured too, he worries revealing her true identity could get them both killed.

Bristling at her forced proximity to her spurned suitor, Elizabeth is pleasantly surprised at how well they work together. But even as they disagree on whether or not to risk an escape, Darcy suspects their survival may not lead to him winning her heart.

Can they fix their cascade of misunderstandings to find happily ever after?

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(Expected release date March 1st)

and the full wrap…

This color – I absolutely adore it. It is rich, deep, and moody. It’s the sea, it’s the sky, it’s a storm. 🌊

I think it makes a lot of sense to have Darcy and Elizabeth face opposite directions – it hints at their divisive opinions and the tension between them. 👥

A forced-proximity scenario?!? One of my favorite tropes! I need this in my hands now! 🤲🏼

Smugglers, kidnapping, danger – sounds exhilarating! I can’t wait for all the action and suspense! 🫣

What do you think, friends? 🤔

  1. I was finally able to open this! I absolutely love that cover, so appropriate! I always love stories that have Darcy and Elizabeth working together to defeat enemies or solve problems so this is definitely a winner for me. Elizabeth is her usual headstrong self but at least she’s prepared to listen to Darcy’s reasoning (mostly) love it!

  2. Love the cover!! The look in their eyes, and the background add greatly to the book description! This sounds very exciting!

  3. Looking forward to this release! My favorite variations are where Darcy and Elizabeth spend most of the narrative together – let the fantastic dialogue and the sparks fly!

  4. Now that’s a swoon worthy cover! ODC face their enemies back-to-back…a true team. The artwork is beautiful!

  5. Another exciting release from Heather Moll.
And I agree there is definitely something moody about the cover.

    Congratulations!

        1. Hi Heather!
The kidnapping scenario sounds so terrific! I want to see this couple joining forces against the enemies…and finding their HEA.
The cover is so attractive and powerful! It’s the kind of book you put on the shelf showing the cover as it was a little painting 😉
Thanks for the giveaway and be sure this story will kidnap our hearts 🙂

  8. LOVE THIS COVER!!! Heather your covers are always beautiful to me, and meaningful And this one, just WOW! ODC, Standing back to back, covering for each other, yet still not sure about each other…just beautiful. The combo of the colors…Can’t wait to read this one! Thanks Heather, Congrats!

      1. Love that cover! And I am a big fan of some action and adventure, looking forward to reading this. Congratulations!

  9. Heather’s books have never disappointed me. I like this type of story line where Elizabeth and Darcy are forced to be together. I agree with Meredith about the colors of the cover. At first I thought that the two of them were tied back to back but they are not. Thank you for the giveaway.

  10. Love this! All of Heather’s covers are among my very favorites. (I kind of want to run my fingers through this Mr. Darcy’s hair…) And can I just say, the story between the covers is phenomenal! Beautiful cover.

  11. That cover is amazing! It might be my favorite of yours so far. I love a good close proximity story and the kidnapping sounds like a great plot. Can’t wait to read it!

  12. Hi Heather, I put my comment a few readers above…I don’t know what happened when I sent the comment but I just want to say I find exciting your new story and the cover is gorgeous! Thanks for the giveaway

  13. Wow! I think maybe it’s the best cover I’ve ever seen! At 86 I’ve fallen in love with this handsome, moody, fellow. Oh, those eyes! Too bad he’s taken already.
Seriously, sounds a great story, how can it not be with Heather Moll as it’s author. Love her books.

  14. Beautiful cover. I like that color, as well. The blue-green and green-blue crayons were always my favorite. I’m looking forward to reading this. Stories where D&E are forced to work together where they can witness each other’s true character are my favorite. Being unable to walk away when misunderstandings arise, is even better. Congratulations on your new book!

    1. Aren’t those stories the best?? I love when they share a lot of page time and can’t escape one another…and they literally trapped together for a huge chunk of the book. Thank you!

  15. Congratulations on the new book!!! I agree that the colors on the cover are perfect. Yes, back-to-back but her hands are behind her & his hands are in front – hmmm. There’s a story there for sure. ~ Glory

  16. What a gorgeous cover! They look so real and intense. Amazing! The pretext of the story is very enticing. Sounds very enjoyable! Thank you very much for sharing!

  17. Congratulations Heather on your latest novel. The cover is beautiful and reminds me of a storm brewing. Your story premise is unique, and I also love a forced relationship with Elizabeth and Darcy. I look forward to reading your novel. –Leslie

  18. Aaaaah, that cover is exquisite!! The colors, the back-to-back position, the facial expressions, the softness of the clothing — brilliant!!

I can’t wait to read it!!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

  19. That’s a beautiful cover! I love the color, it definately makes it pop. Looking forward to reading it and the premise sounds exciting!

  20. What a beautiful cover! Really love it. The image on this cover is very close to the Elizabeth in my mind’s eye when I am reading P&P variations. The story premise sounds very interesting. Looking forward to reading D&E working together in a forced situation.

  21. The most beautiful cover ever! I love it. Combined with a story of E&D working together (and lots of time together!) = must be a winner for me! Thank you for writing this story and for all your other stories!

  22. That is probably one of the best covers ever!. It is beautifully done and will entice a reader even before they read the synopsis. Other than being drawn to a known author the cover of a book often entices me to at least pick it up and consider it. This is one of those covers.

  23. What an absolutely gorgeous cover! This looks like something that would intrigue me even if I had no idea what it was about. Kudos to that! The premise also sounds amazing. Who can resist a chivalrous, courageous, protective, penitent Darcy? You just know he is going to set everything to rights in his own Darcy way. I can’t wait to read this one!

  24. Oh my goodness, that cover is simply gorgeous. The artwork is so beautiful, I love the faces, the positions, the background, and wow, the color! Aside from the fact that I’d read anything of yours, Heather, sight unseen…the premise is so compelling. I’m more than ready to read this. Best of luck on the launch of this your new book baby. I can’t wait.

  25. Oh-My-Goodness! What a marvelous cover. Help us all! I just had a hot flash at my age. Whew! Where are my salts, my fan, my fainting couch? Meredith you nailed it. The color, the moody scene, the water, and the handsome couple. This sound like fun. He is adorable. That hair, that look… Hey, I’m old, but I’m not dead. She is so pretty. I love her hair, her blush… I just want to ask… where are her hands? Fan, my fan, I need my fan. I can’t say enough about that cover, the binding, and the back. Heavy sigh! Well done, Heather. Your team did an excellent job.

    1. Her hands are where you’d expect them to be, at least if it’s the end of the story lol. Can you blame her? Did you see those shoulders, that hair, those cheekbones? Not a bad guy to get kidnapped with. I’m so glad it piqued your interest!

  26. What a gorgeous cover! I love the colour scheme, the hazy landscape, the carriage and the rider in the background (kidnapper? rescuer?) but what I love the most is the absolutely perfect central figures. So Lizzy and Darcy in every way! Huge congrats, Heather! I can’t wait to get my hands on this gem. All the best, and thanks for hosting the cover reveal, Meredith. Such a treat! Thank you both.

  27. The book cover is amazing, Heather. I like the stormy mood that the couple are facing and love to know more of the story. Please correct me if I’m wrong but is the cover AI generated? I’m not really against AI but I’ve seen some of the work and they are so artificial. But yours is tastefully designed and not so jarring.

    1. The cover is not absolutely AI generated. A cover designer put it together from many different models. Thanks for commenting!

  28. I loved Heather Moll’s A Hopeful Holiday and now hearing that her next book deals with one of my favorite tropes?? Oh my goodness, I could not be more excited!
