Cover Reveal + Giveaway of A More Agreeable Man!!!

Hi friends!! Guess who is visiting our blog today with a cover reveal?

The lovely Jan Ashton! 🙌🏼  Huzzah!  Jan Ashton – if you aren’t familiar – is the talented author of Some Natural ImportanceA Searing Acquaintance, A Famous Good Marrying Scheme, and Mendacity and Mourning to name a few. She is also co-creator of Quills and Quartos!🪶 📚

Jan is here to share the beautiful cover reveal of her upcoming release – A More Agreeable Man! We hope you enjoy! 🤗

~ From the Author ~

Meredith, thank you for welcoming me and A More Agreeable Man to your lovely blog.

The plot for this book is different from all the plot bunnies bouncing around in my head, and the cover lends itself beautifully to the story. Now, that being said, I certainly am not one to mess with any character’s HEA, but I wondered what would happen if Georgiana Darcy wasn’t the only single lady to visit Ramsgate, but the serenely beautiful Jane Bennet was there as well.

Although older than Miss Darcy, Jane is less sophisticated and lacks a protective elder brother. And accustomed to being seen as beautiful yet not courted by any eligible and earnest young man in Meryton, Jane might be vulnerable Mr Wickham’s ingratiating charms. But what if he was equally susceptible to hers?

Their mutual admiration leads quickly to an engagement, one which puzzles the sensible and protective Elizabeth Bennet. Of course, Mr Whinger—er, Wickham—cannot help but disparage Mr Darcy, and when our hero shows up at Netherfield, Elizabeth must determine whether he is truly a villain, or whether he can help her unwind the events.

Who will emerge as the more agreeable man? (Yeah, we know it’s ODB, but it’s still fun to get there, and without even a cameo from Lady Catherine!) And what do Bingley and Mrs Bennet have to say about it? And who is the man on the cover of the book? Does he look agreeable to you?

I hope you and your followers will enjoy A More Agreeable Man. Thanks again for having me.

~ Book Description ~

None of us like Mr Darcy, but I must determine the truth about him if we are to know the real character of Mr Wickham.

WHEN JANE BENNET RETURNS from a holiday at Ramsgate engaged to a handsome and charming young man, Elizabeth Bennet is astonished to find herself the only person at Longbourn questioning their attachment. Just who is the elusive George Wickham? What is it that has drawn him to her handsome elder sister who has no fortune, no family connexions to offer him?

WEEKS AFTER SEPARATING HIS SISTER Miss Georgiana Darcy from the attentions of the nefarious George Wickham, Fitzwilliam Darcy arrives in Hertfordshire to visit his friend Charles Bingley at Netherfield Park. There, he discovers that Wickham has impugned his character and is now betrothed to a lady whose enchanting younger sister has both decided opinions and strikingly beautiful eyes.

MR DARCY’S DOUBTS AND ELIZABETHS CONCERN over the misalliance lead them to set aside their mutual distrust and determine the truth about Wickham’s true intentions, but the more they discover, the deeper they find their own hearts entangled.

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: December 11th)

Don’t know about you, but I’m definitely more agreeably engaged by this more agreeable man!  😍

I love the full embodiment of the man on the cover – you can see the concern in his eyes, the tension in his jaw, his determined stride. He is a man of action and principle. 🎩

Jane Bennet entangled with Wickham – what an inspired and refreshingly unique idea! 🤩

Ramsgate is not a safe place for single ladies. 🚫

What do you think, friends? 🤔

  1. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth working together instead of at logger heads?!? Sign me up! 😉
Such a handsome man on the cover – in the words of Lydia: “Ummmmm….”

    Congratulations on your new release.

(I don’t need to be included in the draw)

    1. Thanks, Sam! Ummmm, indeed. I love this vision of Darcy. But as you can imagine, Lydia has her favorite among the men who arrive in Meryton. 😉

    1. That gorgeous, stalwart man on the cover lent a little inspiration to the story–which I hope you’ll enjoy, Michelle!

    1. It is a twist–but is it better or worse for Darcy? Handsome as he is, he’s not looking too happy, right?). Thanks, Marie. I hope you’ll like the story.

  2. What an intriguingly different pairing —Jane and Wickham. And what a dreamy cover. Sure wish it was 40 years ago back when my hair was thick and my waist was thin instead of vice versa! But even we ‘dowagers’ can still appreciate a romantic .. .uh, profile. Yes that’s it, profile.

Very much looking forward to reading this, and congratulations on having the dream and the drive so that we readers reap the benefits!

    1. Ha, ha. You have a way with words, Kate! That is a very romantic profile, indeed, and as I near my dowager years, I plan to continue enjoying the sight of a handsome man. Thanks for your lovely comment.

  3. This is an automatic pre-order for me. I’ve read all of your Austen variations, each terrific in its own way. Thanks for this holiday present to your readers!

    1. Sue, you’ve made my day–my week!–with your kind words. (Especially as I’m sick in bed while I reply to all the nice commenters here.). It’s so heartening to an author to hear that a reader enjoys all their books, and I hope you’ll like this one as much as its predecessors. Thank you!

  4. What is Wickham after? Can Jane be saved? Will Bingley and Jane get together?
What an interesting plot. I will be watching for its release. Really nice cover.,

    1. Such good questions–because we know Wickham is always after something. And Darcy knows it, too. Hope you’ll like where the story leads! Thanks for commenting!

    1. Thanks, Regina! Elizabeth and Darcy’s protective instincts certainly come to the forefront in this story. Plus romance. 😉

  5. Swoon! What a beautiful cover! I have to say the thought of George Wickham imposing on Jane (especially since she is not wealthy) is truly intriguing. What could his motivation be…except possibly her beauty. And of course Mr Bennet can’t be bothered to ascertain whether or not Wickham can care for a wife. I love that Elizabeth gets to be immediately suspicious of Wickham instead of enamored. Can’t wait to read this!

    1. You are spot on, Terri! Elizabeth is blindsided, indeed, and ultra protective of her sister–but she is supportive too. Quite a tight spot for her. I hope you’ll like the intrigue and the angst and romance inside the swoony cover. He’s an eyeful, right?

  6. Jane and Mr. Wickham? Say it isn’t so! Here’s hoping that Mr. Bingley comes to the rescue! Can’t wait to read this one. Thanks for the chance to win a copy. ❤️

    1. Oh it is so. But poor Jane–what happens when the newly engaged girl meets Mr Bingley? I hope you’ll like the story and good luck with winning a copy!

  7. What a unique story! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the giveaway, and in the meantime, I’m putting this in my wish list!

  8. This twist to the tale is certainly a change that offers options for D&E to work together if Lizzy can find a way to talk to Darcy without it getting to her family. Who wouldn’t want to know how this tale will end for several people.

    1. Good call, Gayle. Once Elizabeth gets over her own distrust of her future brother-in-law’s worst enemy, she and Darcy become quite a team. If only Jane could have her sister’s savvy about men…

  9. Oh goodness. That is a very interesting plot twist, and just the kind of thing I love to read. I am looking forward to this book. The cover is very eye catching with the eye candy on the front.

    1. Eye candy is perfect for my diet, and this cover is mighty satisfying, lol. It is a twist–the love story no one wants to read, but I hope everyone finds it enjoyable. Thanks, Neville!

  10. Wow, Jane and Wickham?!? I am intrigued. Thank you for the cover reveal and giveaway. Congrats and best wishes on the new release!

    1. Yes, it’s the love story that would horrify even our dear JA! But you know Jane (and D&E) will get their HEAs. Good luck on the giveaway! Thanks, Robin

  11. Jane and Wickham? This is a new twist. Out of the many, many P&P variations that I have read, I cannot remember ever seeing this as the story line. And Elizabeth, instead of being enamored of Wickham, is skeptical–you go girl! Looking forward to reading this new tale. Congrats on publishing a new book!

    1. I’m shocked/not shocked no one has gone this route before–I assumed someone had once paired up Jane and Wickham, but honestly, it’s such a stomach-turning idea, it’s a hard story to write. I hope you’ll like how I worked through the ickiness!

    1. You pegged it, Sharon: Jane is so sweet and seeing only the best in people, has no idea that she may have chosen Mr Wrong. Thank goodness for D&E. Thanks for commenting!

  12. Looking forward to this book I have it on preorder as I do with any of favourite authors. This one looks really interesting.

  13. Love the cover!!! Sounds like a very interesting story. Can’t wait to read it!!! Congratulations!! I love all your books

  14. This definitely sounds unique. What would Wickham want with Jane? Hope Elizabeth can discover the truth before it’s too late and Mr. Bingley comes to the rescue!

    1. Would anyone but Wickham himself ultimately want to see him paired off with sweet Jane Bennet? Hopefully not, but Jane may need some convincing! Thanks for commenting, Nancy!

  15. Obviously the pairing of Wickham and Jane Bennet has us all floored. Hence, the numerous comments. Fortunately, Elizabeth has the good sense to be suspicious of Wickham. Thank goodness someone is not falling at his feet in a daze. Hopefully, Elizabeth will listen to Darcy and save her sister! I would love to win an ecopy of this book!

    1. It’s definitely a hair-raising pairing, isn’t it? But Elizabeth has some good spidey-sense, so she’s the best ally and sister Jane could hope for. (And that handsome guy on the cover is pretty wonderful too.). Good luck winning a copy!

  16. Thanks to everyone for your comments and warm reception for my strange romantic pairing. And a huge thanks to Meredith for hosting me and my eighth(!) book. I’m excited to have A More Agreeable Man out in the world next month!

  17. Love this cover. He looks real and strong. He’ll surely influence people to judge this book by its cover, when browsing in the bookstore. He really attracts the eye.

    1. I like your take on this Darcy! He caught my eye very quickly. A firm jaw and a steady and strong appearance–not to mention the gorgeous hair and eyes. Ahem. Thanks for your nice words, Kim!

  18. I’m aghast at the thought of Jane with Wickham, but I look forward to reading the story, knowing you will rescue Elizabeth’s favorite sister.
    Thanks for sharing your talent.
    Betty Campbell Madden

    1. Aghast is the perfect summation of how I felt when I first considered a Ramsgate meetup. Thanks for your confidence, Betty! Darcy and Elizabeth will handle the rescue!

  19. Wow – I love the cover, a very agreeable man indeed!! This sounds like a very interesting premise. I look forward to reading and discovering what Wickham is up to and how Darcy and Elizabeth find out. –Leslie

  20. Oh yes! This is definitely a must read for me. I absolutely love when Darcy and Elizabeth work together, especially against Wickham! I assume Wickham’s motivation for courting Jane is possibly a belief that she’s the heir to Longbourn? Or maybe he’s so blown away by her beauty that he has no other motivation? 😉
Whatever, the Darcy on the cover seems definitely capable of dealing with him, with Elizabeth’s help of course! And maybe find time for a little romancing of his own? A certain winner for me!

    1. Glynis, I’m so glad to hear you’re excited for the book! The story is chockful of suspicions harbored by both D and E against Wickham and initially, each other, but of course, once they bond, they make the very best team for…well, for everything!

  21. I can’t wait to read your new story, Jan! I really am puzzled by Wickham’s interest in Jane. Does he think she will inherit Longbourn? I also am puzzled by Mr Bennet’s lazy attitude. This will be an interesting story to read!

    1. Good questions! Wickham always has an angle and he always likes a pretty face, and if Jane is as naive and trusting as I think, she is easy pickings. But why GW picks her is the question. I hope you’ll find the story interesting, Betty Jo.

    1. We are in agreement on this Darcy (and I am pretty picky on my Darcys). I hope you’ll like the story too, Amy!

    1. Poor Lydia lost her chance, right? But Wickham does like the Bennet girls. Still, we have to make sure the nicest of the sisters gets her HEA–with him or another eligible man. 😉 Thanks for commenting!

  22. Jane is always so frustratingly gullible it makes me want to give her a piece of my mind. I hope ODC can teach her a lesson in the realities of life. I love the cover!!

  23. Wickham and sweet Jane! I’ve never heard of that one! And Darcy and Elizabeth working together. I like it. And a handsome Darcy o the cover can’t hurt!

  24. Sounds terrific. I’m hoping that ODC can rescue Jane from Wickham (and of course achieve their own HEA in the process!)

  25. Jane Bennet and Wickham as a couple? I have not read this plot before so it would be interesting to explore this story. Hopefully she will come to see Wickham’s true colours and break off the engagement.

I’m guessing the man on the cover could be Darcy. Or is it Wickham?
