Here we are again Austenesque fans! I can’t believe this is the sixth cover reveal I’ve had at Austenesque Reviews. I’m so grateful to Meredith and this community for welcoming me.

Some of you might think sending valentines on February 14 is a modern concept, but Valentine’s Day was big business in Georgian England. Preprinted cards weren’t around yet, but would-be sweethearts and lovers did exchange handmade valentines. Thousands of valentines went into the post on the 14th. Sometimes they were anonymous, and they were often in rhyme.

How could I know this and not make Darcy and Elizabeth write each other valentines?!

In this short and sweet, kisses-only novel that takes place in February 1812, both Jane and Elizabeth are in London over the winter and cross paths with Bingley and Darcy. I’ve never set a book completely in London, so I had a lot of fun finding things for our prospective couples to do during the season when they weren’t agonizing over valentines—and valentines gone wrong.

The cover was designed by Evelyne Labelle of Carpe Librum Cover Design. She’s fantastic. She took my vague statements about writing valentines, and no outside scenery, and romantic tension and whatever else I rambled about and she came up with this charming cover. Evelyne has designed my last three covers and I’m so fortunate to work with her. Those handwritten valentines are front and center and are the source of the conflict—and they’re part of the romantic resolution?

Will an exchange of secret valentines lead to love for Darcy and Elizabeth? Could you come up with a sweet and clever rhyme to win someone’s heart?

~ Book Description ~

Will an exchange of secret valentines lead to love?

After her aunt notices her partiality for Mr Wickham, Elizabeth Bennet is invited to town for the winter along with her sister Jane, and February in London gives Elizabeth the chance to become better acquainted with the Gardiners’ young and single friend.

When Mr Darcy and Elizabeth meet by chance, Darcy must account for how Bingley left Hertfordshire as he considers his deepening feelings for Elizabeth. Bingley is determined to renew his attentions to Jane, and an evening’s diversion of writing valentines leads to disastrous results for Darcy. Darcy doubts he has a reason to hope but, as she comes to know Darcy better, Elizabeth has to consider who is best suited to make her happy.

When Valentine’s Day arrives, who will Elizabeth want to receive a valentine from: the lively man she just met or the man whose proposal she already refused?

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(Expected release date February 1st)

This cover is stunning in both the foreground and background! 😍

I love how the couple is blurred and in less detail – they look so sweet together – Mr. Darcy without his coat and holding a flower…*swoon* 🌹

I am so excited to see these letters that are received – I wonder what professions of love or soul-piercing feelings they contain… 💌

I’m excited to see the secret tension these letters produce – what are these “disastrous results?!” 😮

What do you think, friends? 🤔

  1. I love reading variations set in London and the Valentines idea is so unique! I look forward to reading this. The cover is lovely.

    1. This is the first one I’ve set entirely in London, and I have to admit, I loved it. I’ll definitely do it again. Thanks so much!

  2. Yet another winner Heather! I love the cover and I love the actual book! The Valentine game didn’t work out quite as expected but it was the precursor to the change in Elizabeth’s feelings for Darcy I think. Perfect for lovers of romance between ODC. That would be me obviously 🙂
Good luck with this one Heather, and thanks for the reveal Meredith

    1. Wasn’t that sharp (no pun intended)? This is why I hire Evelyne, because I never would have thought of that. She’s brilliant!

  3. Congratulations on the new book! I can’t wait to read it. Such a beautiful and romantic cover 🙂

  4. Beautiful cover. Look at that tablecloth. Mrs. Bennet would die for that. I love the reds and pinks, that couple in the fuzzy distance, the roses and rose petals, and the letters beside the quill and ink. It is so romantic looking. Heavy sigh. I’m looking forward to reading this. Congratulations on the launch. February will soon be here. Thanks, Meredith for hosting. Blessings everyone.

  5. A new Heather Moll novel!!! Congratulations Heather. I want to read this as soon as possible, I love the premise. Oh yes, that romantic cover!

  6. This is quite a sweet cover! I love the purity of the white missed with the pain of red, though not in excess as it has to be within the bounds of propriety as we Austen lovers know and desire. The couple in the background and the lettering complete the loveliness. Thank you for the cover reveal.

    1. Thank you so much for saying hi! Isn’t it a lovely balance of white, red, and green? The designer is so talented. I could never have come up with this!
