Austenesque Agenda – December 2020

Hello dear Austenesque friends! Are you surprised to see another post this week? And guess what, there will still be another post tomorrow! 😊 It is a busy month and the next couple of weeks are extra-packed with lovely author visits, celebrations, and reviews!

I know I always comment about how fast the month’s are going, but I swear November was a blur! And my lack of news and variety of pictures proves it.  ⏩

In November I went on a sibling trip with my brother to Rocky Mount, NC to celebrate his birthday. 🛣

*my swollen-looking eye is courtesy of a bee sting I got just underneath my eye earlier in the week! 🐝

It was just an overnight trip to see some train depots and stations. He is an avid train station enthusiast! 🚂

I also had a very virtual weekend attending the JAFF Writers and Readers Get Together put together by Victoria Kincaid and Summer Hanford and it was such a blast! 👩🏻‍💻

Other than that, I was enjoying a lot of warm days (not now, we are in the 40s 🥶) and trying to see as much fall color as I can! 🍁

I am glad I caught some colorful leaves, although it looks like I may have missed seeing “the peak” by a few days. 🍂

  1. Lovely fall photos, Meredith — thank you for sharing!

What a fun overnight trip with your brother. I love trains too and old train stations (which I one thing I adore so much about Europe) so I imagine that was a great trip.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyous Christmas, Hanukkah and holiday season!

    1. Thank you, Lori! Yes! So much of what we check out here is abandoned or refurbished into other things. I am coming to love and appreciate the railway systems and wish our country decided to keep it going more!

  2. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the annotated Persuasion. The intro includes some very interesting info about the dates named in the novel—a rare glimpse into the mechanics of Jane Austen’s art, which is usually so seamless.

  3. Thank goodness the bee sting missed your eye! Fabulous photos as usual Meredith!
How on Earth are you going to fit all this in as well as Christmas?
I’m so looking forward to reading your posts. I have read some of these.

    1. Lol! It was the craziest thing…it was a suuuuupper windy day and the wind blew the poor bee into my eye!

It has been a very busy couple of weeks, and as you can see, I am still playing catch up!

  4. Wonderful photos Meredith. I’m looking forward to your review on the Klassen novel. I have it ordered and am just waiting (impatiently) for it to arrive.
Looking forward to Mark’s interview. I read his last Mr Bennett book and it was such fun.

    1. Thank you so much, Teresa! Ooh! Ii hope it has arrived and that you get the opportunity to read her beautiful story soon!

So happy to hear you are anticipating Marks next book and enjoyed his first!

  5. I love your photos, Meredith [hello to your Mr. Bingley]. I have a close relationship with my brother but we both are caregivers and with COVID, we stay home. Cherish those moments together. They are precious indeed. Blessings, my dear. It looks like you have a busy month planned out for us. I look forward to seeing your interviews. Everyone stay safe and healthy.

    1. Thank you, Jeanne! I am very lucky to have him and I love hearing that you are close with your brother, I hope you will be able to spend time with him in the near future.

  6. Glad you had a good time with your brother and caught some pretty color before it was gone. Looks like a great reading month for you. 🙂 Fun visits coming.

    Have a great December, Meredith!

  7. What a fun trip with your brother! I’m still trying to play catch up with your November postings! Looking forward to all your guests and is that a new book Jessie has coming out? Mark has a new one too and I have his on on my kindle as well as Jessie’s ‘Mistaken’. I loved ‘Speechless’! I have the paperback of ‘All That This Entails’ as the cover is just gorgeous! I’m looking forward to Anngela’s new book too. I am so far behind on my reading! As for that virtual conference, what fun and wish I had known about it!

    1. LOL! it is funny for me to read that and know I am catching up with the comments for the last couple of weeks!

Isn’t it a great problem that we have such an amazing surplus of books!

Ooh! I will be sure to make sure you know about the virtual conference if there is another one!! It was really wonderful!

  8. Thanks for keeping me up to date on all the new lovely novels.
Your fall photos are beautiful, sorry the bee got you.
We also visit train museums as DH is an enthusiast too.

  9. I look forward to it all I love it when I find a new book to read on your blog which I to say happens regularly Some releases are unknown to me until I see them with you
    Thank you so very much

  10. Oh my goodness, such gorgeous colours! Love your autumn photos!

That’s just awful, the bee sting. Hope it didn’t spoil your trip. I couldn’t see the swelling around your eye, so I’m hoping that it was going down by then.

Your December line-up looks fabulous. Looking forward to the posts. Busy month indeed!

Take care, put your feet up at Christmas and here’s to a very happy New Year!

    1. Thank you, Joana! Lol…didn’t spoil the trip at all. Just made my eye look and feel strange for about a week!

It has been a busy month…as you can see I have gotten behind on my commenting!

Hoping you are enjoying a lovely December, friend!

  11. Right before your last sentence above I was thinking ‘OH BOY!’ And then you said it. I’m looking forward to ALL of the reviews and the fabulous guest interviews…hurray! I agreed with Glynis, how are you going to get all this done and Christmas too?

Bee sting near the eye? Yikes, dear Girl, ouch! Well, you may not have caught the peak of Fall color but the photos you did get are just as wonderful as ever. I think this time of year has a beauty all its own. You are so blessed to have the close relationship you have with your brother, and I love seeing the photos of you when you get together. He seems like such a cool guy. 🙂

Try to enjoy this month as much as possible because December tends to pass in a blink of an eye too.
Yes, that conference was just wonderful. We see your picture frequently but it was very special hearing your sweet voice.

    1. Lol! It is definitely an oh-boy kinda month!

Yes, real-life and work interfered with being able to see peak color – but I like my annual mission to see as much as I can!

December is going fast! As you can see, I am dreadfully behind!

I am so glad I got to see you a little bit at the conference! I wish I could’ve attended more of the events, but I loved what I did get to see!

  12. Meredith! Your December agenda is overwhelming!! How many authors! I’m waiting for them as if I were a girl expecting for Santa! LOL
And the readings! C’mon, how are you going to do it with all the Christmas season preparatives?. I’m reading “The assistant” by Riana Everly and will be lucky if I finish it before New Year’s Eve LOL
Your pics of Autumn are so beautiful! Those landscapes seem to be taken out from a fairy tale!!!
And how good to make a sibling trip 😉
    Have a fun weekend!

    1. Hi Teresa!! Hahaha! I love it! It is definitely a month full of lots of gifts!

Ahhh…my reading is very sneaky…lots of novellas and shorter works! So far working out very well. It would definitely be harder to read bigger books this month.

OOhhhh! I hope you are enjoying The Assistant!! I loved that one!
