Guest Post + Giveaway with Author KC Kahler!!!

Hi friends! We are so happy to welcome back author KC Kahler!  We were so thrilled to celebrate the cover reveal for her new release with Quills and Quartos a few weeks back! (We loved hearing how many readers were ardent admirers of Boots and Backpacks!) And it is time to learn some more about KC’s long-anticipated new release – A Case of Some Delicacy!  We hope you enjoy!

Hello readers! First I want to thank Meredith for allowing me to kick off my blog tour here at Austenesque Reviews with the trailer premiere for my new book, A Case of Some Delicacy!

A Case of Some Delicacy is a Pride and Prejudice variation that deviates from canon right at the beginning. I could explain further, or I could let the trailer explain it for me! For the rarified Austen fans here, the first 40 seconds will be a familiar and (hopefully) fun set up for Pride and Prejudice. I had to include it just in case some poor soul who is not familiar with the plot of P&P happens to watch the trailer.

Without further ado, I hope you enjoy…

When I was storyboarding the trailer, I was surprised by how prominent Longbourn turned out to be, as opposed to any other settings I could have used. It highlights the importance of the entail in the plot of A Case of Some Delicacy. Mr. Collins comes to visit earlier, so Mrs. Bennet’s justified worry over the entail is the main driver of the conflict from the very beginning. It’s why she’s so determined that Jane will marry Mr. Collins, why Jane would even consider taking one for the team, so to speak, and why Elizabeth vows to save Jane from placing duty and security above her own happiness..

Another reason behind the prominence of Longbourn in the trailer is that the Bennet family is centered in A Case of Some Delicacy. Obviously Darcy and Elizabeth are the protagonists (of course!), but every member of the Bennet family has a part to play in the plot, some of them in surprising ways. I hope readers feel like they’ve gotten to know not just Elizabeth and Jane better by the end, but also Mary, Kitty, and Lydia.

Have I said enough to pique your interest in A Case of Some Delicacy? Would you give a thumbs up or thumbs down for the trailer? I had a lot of fun making it, so that should be its own reward, but I wouldn’t hate a few accolades!

Thanks for spending a little time with me today, and I hope you’ll follow along on the rest of the blog tour.

👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼 That was adorable – just like a picture book! Well done, KC!! What an enchanting book trailer! And yes, you have more than piqued our interests! Especially because we will see more of the other Bennet sisters – I wonder what new twists you have in mind for them!

  2. I love that trailer and I definitely want to read this book! I have it on my list and will now certainly buy it on my next shopping spree .
I am a big fan of humour so this sounds perfect and a worthy follow up to Boots and Backpacks (some of their adventures on the trail we’re pretty funny )
    Thanks for sharing.

  3. What an adorable trailer. I loved it. That was simply fantastic. I really loved this story. Blessings on the launch and success of this work. Thanks to Meredith for hosting [say hello to your Mr. Bingley] and good luck to everyone in the drawing.

  4. Thanks everyone for the trailer accolades, although I hardly gave you any choice! And I’m so happy to hear people are moving ACoSD up in their wish list/TBR pile. Good luck in the drawing all!

  6. I just started reading this book last night, and I’m already enjoying it. I loved the letter excerpt at the beginning that explains the book title. So clever! Best wishes on your new release!

  7. The trailer is cute, but I think Boots and Backpacks is enough enticement for me to read this new story. Thanks in advance for the work you’ve done for us.

  8. The story line is enticing and the trailer lovely — and now I need to know why Darcy was lurking outside Longbourn and peering into windows. Seems a bit un-Darcy-ish! Hmmm …

  9. The video was a perfect introduction for the book. I really liked Boots and Backpacks, and this new release is a very different take. Thank you for the charming trailer and giveaway.

  10. Congratulations KC, what a clever way to introduce your story to the readers! the trailer was super fun to watch, and so well excuted. I’d love to learn why Darcy was ‘spying’ on the Bennets.

  11. The trailer is lovely–it definitely piques my interest in the book!! I love the idea of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy working together to foil Mrs. Bennet’s matchmaking ways that would cause Jane to “take one for the team.” I am a bit surprised, though; I would have thought that Mrs. Bennet would have wanted someone of a greater stature in society than Mr. Collins for her favorite, but I suppose that Jane at age 22 is quickly approaching the shelf, and allowances must be made.

Thank you for this wonderful trailer, and I wish you all the best with your new release!! Congratulations, K.C.!! 😀

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

  12. I I love stories that expand the roles of the Bennet sisters. And I love the trailer – – cute and informative both!
