Hi readers, I’m excited to share another of my Austenesque Top Ten lists with you today!
For those who haven’t seen this kind of post before, it is where I share some of my all-time favorite Austenesque works. Sometimes I group them by novel (Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility), sometimes I group them by sub-genre (Sequels, Modern-day Adaptations), and sometimes I group them by theme (Summer, Halloween). 😉
Today’s list is for all of those who enjoy traveling through time and imagining themselves in Jane Austen’s world! Whether it is time travel, time-slip, body-swap, or some other phenomena – I thought it would be fun to share my favorite Austenesque Time Travel novels. I hope you enjoy!!
* These lists are based only on the novels I have read and reviewed on this blog and are my top ten favorites.
**These lists are subject to change.

(in alphabetical order)
Another Place in Time
Author: Mary Lydon Simonsen
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“Through Ms. Simonsen’s vivid descriptions and informative prose, I was able to see, feel, taste, smell, and breathe in 1812 in Another Place in Time. What a fantastic trip! Ms. Simonsen doesn’t need advancements in science or sophisticated technology, she can travel through time with her mighty pen!”
Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict
Author: Laurie Viera Rigler
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“I greatly enjoyed the concept of this book as I do believe that many fans of Jane Austen would love to be transplanted to and experience Regency England. In addition, I thought Laura Viera Rigler did an outstanding job of portraying how someone from our world would react to living in the another time period.”
Leap of Hope: Crossroad Connections #2
Author: Shannon Winslow
Type of Novel: Time Travel
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“Shannon Winslow came up with an inventive and diverting premise and her execution was masterly. She created an endearing heroine, a likable cast of characters (including some charming suitors!), and always kept the reader guessing. I loved following the twists and turns of Hope’s “Austen Kind of Life” and am definitely hoping that another client at Crossroads will be wanting or experiencing the same…”
Mr. Darcy’s Christmas Calendar
Author: Jane Odiwe
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip, Novella
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“I found Mr. Darcy’s Christmas Calendar to be delightful, enchanting, and filled with Christmas magic. 🙂 Jane Odiwe brings readers along on a charming visit to the heart of Jane Austen’s world for the holiday season!”
Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict
Author: Laurie Viera Rigler
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“If you are in the mood for something “light, bright, and sparkling,” then look no further! I found this to be such a delightful and diverting series, and Laura Viera Rigler is a very talented and witty author. I highly recommend that if you do read these books!”
Searching for Captain Wentworth
Author: Jane Odiwe
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“Emotional, expressive, and enthralling – Searching for Captain Wentworth is quite unlike anything I’ve read before! With multiple romances, dual realities, and many hidden parallels and nods to Jane Austen’s Persuasion, this novel had me entranced.’”
Searching for Mr. Tilney
Author: Jane Odiwe
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“Searching for Mr. Tilney is a thoroughly diverting journey to Bath filled with fantasy, romance, and intriguing discoveries about Jane Austen! I’m so thankful Jane Odiwe has penned another whimsical and imaginative adventure for us to enjoy! A perfect choice for Janeites!!”
Sincerely Yours: Yours by Design Book 2
Author: Robin Helm
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip, Christian/Inspirational
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“I loved how this book showed more of each Darcy’s development…I liked seeing Fitzwilliam “Fitz” Darcy’s interactions with his new companions and witnessing the many lessons he has to learn daily about modern society and customs. It kind of reminded me of Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory a few times with how he needed to have so many things explained!.”
The Jane Austen Project
Author: Kathleen A. Flynn
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip, Mature Audiences
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“Oh wow – Jane Austen, time travel, a precarious secret mission, a completed but then destroyed manuscript of The Watsons?!? This story had me spellbound from the first page. The premise is brilliant – our time travelers are searching for the answers to questions we have always asked – Why wasn’t The Watsons completed? What is in those letters Cassandra destroyed?”
The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen
Author: Ada Bright and Cass Grafton
Type of Novel: Time Travel/Time Slip, Austen-Inspired
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
My Review I Add to Cart I Add to Shelf
“Thought-provoking and inventive this story presents readers with a fascinating journey about great friends, adventure, and romance. But more importantly, The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen is a splendid homage to Jane Austen and her books. The world would definitely not be the same without them!”

Thanks Meredith. I love time travel novels and if only we could….have read a few of the books on your list and looking forward to reading the ones I have not. Have a lovely weekend.

I especially like this list because I enjoy good time travel storylines! Thank you!
Awesome! I thought it would be a fun list to make, I was surprised to see how many time travel stories I’ve already read!
Thanks Meredith! I’ve read almost everything on your list. There is another favorite that comes to mind and it’s Realisations by Ola Wegner. And then I also read Becoming Elizabeth Darcy by Mary Simonsen. And one really excellent story on DWG by Kathy called The True Adventures of Fitzwilliam Darcy, Time Traveler – never published as far as I know. I suppose I’ve read more, but those are the ones that come to mind. Jen
That’s great, Jennifer! 🙂 I appreciate the recommendations as they are all ones I haven’t read!
Thanks for sharing, I haven’t read any of these yet but a few are on my TBR shelf. My favorite Austenesque Time Travel books are:

Thanks so much, Meredith! It’s an honor to have Leap of Hope included on your top ten list!
Absolutely! Thank you for writing such a wonderful story of living in Jane Austen’s world!
Always love your lists, Meredith, and this sounds so wonderful! Time travel and Jane Austen, what can be more exciting? If only, oh if only we could travel back in time to her, or if she could come into our world somehow! Reading time-travel novels is the next best thing and I’ve devoured and loved Jane Odiwe’s. Looking forward to more and I’ll be sure to find more favourites on your Top 10 list, as I always do. All the best and keep the lists coming 🙂
Thank you, Joana! I thought it would be fun change from variations and sequels lists. I feel like you are one of the people who have come the closest to experiencing time travel with all the lovely Jane Austen and Regency events I see you take part in!! But how great would it be to meet Jane Austen in the flesh!!!
Thanks so much for checking out my list and for the lovely encouragement!! 🙂
great list
Thanks, Denise! I appreciate it! 🙂
Thank you for including our book, Meredith! Such an honour!
Some great read here! ❤️
Had to! Loved it so much! What a fun adventure!
Time travel is a bit of a passion with me. I’ve read four books on your list. I’ve lined up The Jane Austen Project to read. Just need to find the time which has been eluding me lately. Great list Meredith.
Awesome, Teresa! Hope you enjoy that one as much as I did! 🙂
Great list again. Have you read The Man Who Loved Jane Austen? Loved that one too.
I loved The Man Who Loved Jane Austen by Sally Smith O’Rourke! It was my first time travel Austenesque book and was really fun to read. It has a sequel as well called Yours Affectionately, Jane Austen.
Sounds like I need to read this one! Thanks for the recommendations, friends!
I’ve read five of these books, and the rest are on my TBR shelf. Not sure I believe in time travel; but that doesn’t stop me from reading TT-based novels, especially if they’re Austenesque.
I love all your lists!
I agree, Lilyane! I think it is the best kind of time travel! 😉
I’ve read for of those and loved them. I’ve got a couple more Jane Odiwe ones, the Viglers, and the Jane Austen Project on my TBR list.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the ones in your TBR list, thanks for sharing your thoughts about my time travel faves!
Uggghhhh….I think I have to stop reading your blog….I keep finding new books! 😉
I really enjoy the time travel books, they are so interesting in how they been the two and bring out both the major and minor differences between Jane’s time and ours.
Thanks for the list! (I think….lol)
Oh no! Should I apologize? 😉 LOL!
I knew there were many like yourself that really love seeing Jane Austen and time travel combined, I thought it would be fun (and helpful) to feature all those books together. It is such a fun idea to toy with, isn’t it?
