Austenesque Agenda – February 2016

AA

Hi friends!  I hope your month is off to a lovely start and that winter isn’t too brutal near where you live!  I know there’s been a good amount of snow, but hopefully all our friends survived the storms with a large supply of books and electricity!!

Mr. Bingley and I have been enjoying Netherfield a lot and taking on some new projects and purchases!  One of them being a bed from IKEA.  This was our first experience with IKEA and I must say, Mr. Bingley did a fabulous job!  I love our new bed!

As you can see I was super instrumental in this endeavor…by  keeping hubby company and reading!

One of the best features of our bed is the side bookshelves, a perfect place to store the books I’m reading or soon-to-be-reading!

Shelves in the headboard!? Almost as exciting as shelves in the closet! 😉

Speaking of bookshelves, the other project that has been in progress this past month is the building of my bookshelves…or my Netherfield Nook, if you will.  (Any chance to use alliteration!)  😉

While we searched high and low for bookshelves that we could assemble ourselves and install, it seemed like the best option was to have them built…

plus, it has long been a dream of mine to have a window seat! 😉

Will hopefully be able to post pictures of  it all completed and all my books moved in to their new home next month! 😀

  1. Happy thought indeed with shelves in the headboard! Absolutely love your bookshelves in your book nook and the window seat! Yes, there is something lovely about a window seat to curl up on and read. As you know, I read ‘Jane Austen Lives Again’ and absolutely loved it. I hope to read both ‘Villa Fortuna’ and ‘Longbourn’s Songbird’ this winter myself. As for my choice, ‘The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy’. I have read this and loved it when it first came out and there were many twists and turns. Regina did a great job, as always! Looking forward to Karen’s visit as ‘Undeceived’ is definitely one I want to read too! There is a new author you are hosting that I have never heard, so I am looking forward to that too (James Ramos)!

    1. YES! Thank you! Such a happy thought! 😉 I’m very excited about reading Jane Austen Lives Again, I am thoroughly enjoying Villa Fortuna at the moment! 😉 Great reading list you have for yourself, Carole! Hope you enjoyed them all!

  2. LOVE both your new bed with side bookshelves and your Netherfield Nook – Amazing! And so lovely.

As for voting: As If looks amusing and since you didn’t get to it back when and I have NOT read it myself, let’s see what you make of it.

Best of luck in your home and with your work. Always look forward to reading about your adventures in News from Netherfield.

    1. Thank you, Sheila! We are very excited about our new additions! Next month’s project isn’t as exciting…gutters. 😉 LOL! Thanks for the lovely visit and sharing your kind words, Sheila! Always happy to hear from you!

  3. Love to see how Netherfield is taking shape, Meredith and LOVE LOVE LOVE your book nook! February at Austenesque Reviews looks very exciting and can’t wait to read your reviews and guestposts. Have lots of fun decorating Netherfield!

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! There are still plenty of empty walls and rooms, but it has been fun to tackle some projects! 😉 I’m so excited to put my books on these new shelves! Can’t wait! I’ll make a whole day out of it probably! LOL!

  4. I love your new shelves!! So jealous! 😉 I bought quite a few items from IKEA when we moved into our new house, too! Like the desk I’m sitting at now! 🙂

I loved ‘The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy’! So, that’s my pick for you.

Ooh, looking forward to seeing your post with James Ramos!

    Happy Reading!

    1. Aww! Thank you, Candy! It is very much a dream come true! That’s too funny! Mr. Bingley got a desk too – loved it! How lovely that you got yourself a new desk!

  5. You can also “dress up” that bed with create your own high posts in addition to a headboard topper. I’m such a Baroque – Louis XVI that I can imagine le petite Trianon fancies along with lovely Provencal fabrics and lace.

  6. Hi Meredith!
I laugh with your post because… my bookshelves are from IKEA too LOL. We are separated by the ocean but we have the same furniture!. I thought of side bookshelves in the bed but, at last, I didn´t put them but the bookshelves in my dining room and my study are from IKEA and they are white as well as yours!. I love your Netherfield nook, it´s the dream of every lover of reading!, it´s like the library of Disney “Beauty and the Beast” and I´m looking forward to seeing it full of novels 🙂
In Madrid we are having a splendid weather, maybe too much splendid, and people say it should rain but, meanwhile, I think the best thing is to enjoy these warm days. I´m glad the storms didn´t ruin your spare time because you had a good amount of novels and electricity!.
I vote for “The disappearance of Georgiana Darcy”, I´m in the mood of mysteries because of this winter season (I don´t think summer is a good season for mysteries LOL).
And I´m looking forward to seeing your review of Downton Abbey and Julie Klassen´s novel and I´m curious about James Ramos 😉

    1. I love it, Teresa! 😉 I must admit, I was wary of IKEA (we ordered online since the closest store is 4 hours away.) But I’m very happy with what we chose so far! May order more in the future! 😉 LOL! It is a bit smaller than that great library, but it will be perfect for me and my lovely books!

How nice that you are having a mild winter! We were very lucky and had no snow from the storms and it has been really warm again this week…almost Spring weather!

I agree with you about winter being the best time for mysteries! 😉

  7. Hi Meredith, Netherfield is coming along v nicely. So excited to see the book nook when it is complete and you have all your books installed on the shelves and lovely cushions on the window seat. I vote for Regina Jeffers as i love her books x

    1. Thank you, my friend! We are enjoying our time here very much! We were home bodies before, but now….ohmygoodness! We’ve become way worse! Yes, I need to figure out how to get some cushions, because I plan to spend a lot of time reading in there!

  8. Great photos…so proud for you and how nicely things are shaping up. Ahhhhh….those bookshelves….beee-yooo-tiful. I always wanted a window seat, always.

I vote for the Regina Jeffers book. So looking forward to your reviews, especially the Julie Klassen book as this is on my wish list.

Another great line-up of guests!. A new guy author in the genre, hmmmm….pretty exciting.

    1. Thank you, Michelle! You are so sweet! 😉 It is a dream come true to have a window seat! Will have fun decking it out with pillows and cushions! I’m very excited about reading another book by Julie Klassen, isn’t the cover gorgeous?

  9. Can’t wait for Sense and Sensibility by Sarah Price!!! Sounds like a great read and I do like books set in Amish country.
For your own reading Meredith What Would Jane Do is a great little read. My daughter bought it for me last year. I have it on my bedside locker and I randomly open a page every few days and read what it says. It will be a fast read in one go.

    1. I’ve yet to read Sarah’s series, but I’m so excited to that there are 4 books published already! I love how gorgeous the pages look in WWJD!

  10. Just when I was wondering why that headboard was built so thick…ah ha, shelves! Very nifty!

Love your Netherfield Nook and look forward to the finished look with all your books and soft touches.

Nice line up of books for the month. I vote for As If.

    Have a good February!

  11. Looking wonderful! Yay for bookshelves and especially a window seat! 🙂 I didn’t know Sarah Price had a new book coming out–I really enjoyed the others in that series, so I’m looking forward to that. Happy February!

    1. Thanks, Reina! I’m quite happy with how they came out! Since we designed it ourselves, I was worried the window seat and corner bookcases might have come our funny looking. 🙂 Awesome! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed Sarah’s other books! Happy February to you!

  12. Love your Netherfield Nook!! 😀 Seems like the perfect place to keep and read books! And your window seat? Lovely!
You have a fantastic month ahead of you, Meredith! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about Jane Odiwe’s, Beau North’s and Julie Klassen’s novels!
I’ll vote for The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy.

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! I’m so excited too – this month sure has a lot of good things going on!!!
