Cover Reveal for Longbourn’s Songbird

CR

Hi readers!  I’m so excited to host another cover reveal for Meryton Press today! Especially for this new author and her debut release!

Please help us welcome author Beau North as she shares with us the cover of her upcoming release, Longbourn’s Songbird!!  A special thanks to Beau North and the team at Meryton Press for putting this all together!

~ Longbourn’s Songbird ~

“Someday some lark is gonna spell you with a song, Will Darcy. She’ll call you with music and you’ll be as good as lost.”

In the autumn of 1948, young millionaire Will Darcy comes to the sleepy, backwater town of Meryton, South Carolina to visit his best friend, Charles Bingley. When Darcy becomes enchanted by a local beauty with a heavenly voice, his business dealings with Longbourn Farms may close the door to his romantic hopes before they are given a chance to thrive.

Still healing from heartbreak, Elizabeth Bennet takes solace in her family, home, and the tight-knit community of Meryton. That foundation is shaken when Will Darcy makes a successful offer to buy the family farm. Blinded by hurt, will Elizabeth miss the chance to find in him the peace and comfort her heart truly needs?

Confronting the racial, economic, and social inequalities of the times, Longbourn’s Songbird is an imaginative romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice and told through the lens of postwar America, a story layered with betrayal and loss, love and letting go.

What do you think, readers?

I love that this takes place in a completely different time period and location and that Lizzy is musical!  I wonder who broke her heart?

  1. The cover is very evocative of the period isn’t it! I like that it’s in a different period too. One of the first Austenesque books I read was 1932 which I loved, so it’ll be interesting to see what things were like a little later. Looking forward to reading this one.

    1. Thank you! While I won’t pretend to be as talent as Karen M. Cox, I do hope that you enjoy this one just as much.

  2. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to engage with the readers of Austenesque Reviews. I’m lucky to have the talented Zorylee Diaz-Lupitou as my cover artist, the first time I saw this cover was when it all felt real!

  3. Zorylee is a talented cover designer! Well done. This is a novel I am beyond excited about. Congratulations, Beau North. Pinch yourself–it’s happening!

  4. I, too, want to know who broke our beloved heroine’s heart. Thanks for the reveal, Meredith, and for piquing our interest.

So, Beau North, who designed your lovely cover, and when will the book be available?

    1. As far as when it’s going to be available, I can say…soon! I will be updating everyone via twitter and goodreads as soon as the release date is confirmed. Thank you!

  5. As my mother’s family is of long-standing southern origin, this will be very interesting to read. There is a county and a town named after them – Covington. The cover is very different but, as Ceri said, very evocative (for me) of that time, when big bands were still the rage and radio king in the households. Even as a young girl, we had that big console radio (no TV) and had our favorite shows. I, too, am wondering who broke her heart. And I did read 1932 but that had a very different setting and time period. Just a few years can make such a difference in history. Love the author’s name. Is it a pseudonym?

  6. I really like the cover and the idea of the book. I do have a few modern variations which I enjoy especially Perfect Fit by Linda Wells & A Matter Of Chance by Leslie Diamond so I am sure I will like this one. Thanks for the post.

    1. I hope you do enjoy it! It’s a little difficult trying to describe the setting to people, since it’s not *exactly* modern, but it’s not Regency either. In any case, I hope you enjoy it!

  7. What a delightful overview of your book. Cannot wait to read the book. Love the cover. I don’t know who hurt Elizabeth, but he’s already on my list to hate the man.

  8. I’m new to this site and very excited to read some of these titles. BeauNorth I’ll start with yours since you are the reason I heard about this sight, not to mention Longbourn’s Songbird sound like a wonderful read

    1. Welcome to Austenesque Reviews, MJ! Glad you found us! I think Longbourn’s Songbird sounds wonderful too! Beau will stopping by Nov 16th to talk a little more about it, come back and visit then if you like!

  9. It sounds like a wonderful book, and I can’t wait to read it! How perfect that Charles Bingley is a southern gentleman—that seems exactly right. And I’m glad that you incorporate the social realities of the day into the story. I like my Austenesques with some heft to them!

  10. Wow, Beau. Great cover – perfect for the period. It draws you into – the book which is almost here! I am so looking forward to reading about Elizabeth and Will Darcy of South Carolina.

I am happy and excited for you!!

  11. Sounds like an interesting premise. I’ve read Regency variations and modern variations but none from an intervening period yet. I’ve got 1932 in the TBR collection on my Kindle but haven’t had time to read it yet. This cover is just right for the times the book is set in.

So many questions to be answered from the blurb. Looking forward to finding out.

  12. Lovely cover! I’m from SC and I look forward to reading this – even if the author *did* go to USC… jk 😉 (I’m a Clemson fan.) I’ve read a lot of P&P fiction but I think this might be my first WW2-era story.

I also used to live in a Covington, but that was in KY.

Wishing you lots of success with Longbourn’s Songbird. 🙂

    1. Monica – thanks for that 🙂 My hometown, Bishopville, was the setting for this version of Meryton. I really hope you enjoy it!

  13. Love the cover and the title! Congratulations! I am truly intrigued with the premise of this story and look forward to reading it!

  14. Can’t wait to read it! The cover looks great. I love the twist and the time period you chose to write the novel in. Congrats on your first novel.
