from goodreads.com:
In the aftermath of the Civil War, the Bennet family has just moved from Ohio to the town of Rosings, Texas, set on creating a fresh start. But their daughter Beth still prefers the familiarity of Ohio to the plains of Texas-that is, until she encounters Will Darcy, the reclusive owner of Pemberley Ranch. Will and Beth are instantly smitten, but pride, prejudice, and a gang of villains determined to take over Rosings threaten to keep them apart. This fresh idea in the world of Jane Austen retellings brings together the world of Pride and Prejudice with the struggles of the antebellum South.

MY THOUGHTS:

  • I LOVE the Old West!  I am very intrigued to read about a Darcy who owns a ranch!
  • Austenesque authors that are men are few and far between!
  • Mr. Darcy as a cowboy… hmm… that could work!
  • I wonder if Beth’s and Darcy’s families were on opposing sides of the war?
  • The cover is amazing!  I love the skirt, the bodice, the colors of everything!  Simply stunning!
  • I most definitely want to read this novel!!!!

What are your thoughts?

  1. I’ve been curious about this one since I first out about it. I admit to feeling a little hesitant about the cowboy thing but marked it to read anyway, mostly because it is written by a man – so rare in this genre! The cover is gorgeous. I can’t wait to compare thoughts!

  2. a novel idea…smiles. I’m not sure either. I usually don’t do much of the cowboy thing but I have read Jack’s works online at fan sites. The cover is gorgeous! The premise different. Dark and brooding cowboy..? But a man author. My list of advantages/disadvantages is getting longer.

  3. I really wanna read this one too!!! Saw the cover in some “upcoming books” list somewhere and fell a little in love … And with a little more info, I now SERIOUSLY must read this :o)

  4. Mr. Darcy as John Wayne? I wonder if he will swagger? ‘Listen here pilgrim.’ Slaps him with his gloves. ‘You and I must trade blows. We meet at dawn behind the corral.’

It is an intriguing concept Meredith. I am anxious to read it. Elizabeth as Scarlett O’Hara. Ha!

  5. Until you mentioned that it was written by a man I would not have thought twice about it. Indeed it is rare for a man to write an Austenesque novel!

  6. I don’t know what to think! I LOVE Jane Austen revisits and even good mashups, but for some reason this one scares me. I’ll have to think about why that is! 🙂
