Austenesque Agenda – August 2023

Hi friends! Happy August! One of my favorite months of the year!

July was a fast month, that was filled with quite a bit of fun. 🤗

There were many yoga sessions on the pier, 🧘🏻‍♀️
a boat ride, 🚤

a Barbie party, 🪩

a trip to see John Oliver with my brother, 🤣

an Outlander River Cruise (because part of Outlander takes place in Wilmington!), 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

and a beach visit or two! 🏖

Did you have some fun in July?

Those of you who have been with me awhile, may know of my August tradition – to celebrate Georgette Heyer’s birthday by reading and review one of her books around that day. 🥳

And I’m asking for your help deciding which Georgette Heyer book I should read this year, here are the choices. (please leave your vote in the comments)

  1. First of all Georgette Heyer, all brilliant books but my favourite would have to be The Unknown Ajax. Love it!
My goodness, how do you pack so much in each month? My July mostly consisted of watching the rain in between an eye test, a check on my first operation site, and a visit to the dentist! Fun or what? My only treat was going to visit my Mum with my son, his wife and their six year old twins. She loved it, especially when one of them sang to her.
I hope we do actually get some more summer this year, fingers crossed!
At least I’ve got your many posts to look forward to. Thank you.

  2. Oooo what a full July you had. And looked like fun. Oh my gosh your puppy looks so adorable, and you’re looking utterly gorgeous, I think summer is your season.

What a line up for August, whew! I’m looking forward to everything. I haven’t read a few of the books you will be reviewing, that will be great. And I’m excited about the author visits.

As far as Georgette Heyer goes, I like all the ones you gave us to choose from but I’ll bet most people will vote for The Unknown Ajax, so I won’t even try to go against the crowd. Besides, I think you’ll love it.

    1. Looks like you had a great July. Hope August is just as good. Regarding your Georgette Heyer read, I’d recommend The Unkjown Ajax. I think you will love Hugo. Happy reading whatever you choose 🙂

  3. Sorry, but I can’t help you choose.- I would pick them all! What a great job you have.and I thank you for the “hard” work you put in to locate and honestly review your choices.

  4. That was a fun-filled July. Love seeing your pics and your activities. Hmm, I’ll say The Quiet Gentleman for a bit of mystery in your Heyer.

What a fun line up of guests! Have a great August, Meredith!

  5. For what it’s worth, The Unknown Ajax is one of my favourite Heyer books. Hugh/Hugo is an awesome hero. The Quiet Gentleman is my next favourite of the four you listed. I hope you enjoy whichever one you select. 🙂

  6. My goodness you are busy! Love the pics, especially of Fizzik. 🙂 I’m voting the Unknown Ajax too.

  7. While “The Quiet Gentleman” and “The Toll-Gate” are lovely I absolutely adore the humor in “The Unknown Ajax”. ❤️

  8. What a lovely July month! And pink is just great on you and Samantha!

Looking forward for your busy month of August – and the awesome visits.

And I vote for A Quiet Gentleman! Not that I would mind much any of the others

  9. I love your pictures, Meredith. Your little fur-baby is adorable.

Now, guys, don’t throw rotten eggs; I have never read Heyer, Yep, have not, didn’t. I must be living under a rock or something to have missed this author. Sorry, so sorry. Y’all have a blessed day.

  10. Huzzah for a fun July, and another Heyer read! I’m voting for the Quiet Gentleman (mainly because I have access to it through my library’s Libby and can readalong 😉 )
