Cover Reveal + Giveaway of Lovers’ Meeting!!!

Hi readers! I’m so excited for to share the first cover reveal of 2021!! 🥳 And it is lovely to be celebrating a new release from Catherine Lodge! She is publishing her newest release – Lovers’ Meeting with Quills and Quartos in just a few weeks! I read Catherine’s debut release – Fair Stands the Wind – a few years ago and loved it! Imagine…Darcy as a naval captain?! ⚓️ swoon! 🥰

And Catherine’s new release sounds just as exciting! Just wait until you see its lovely cover! 👀

~ Book Description ~

Journeys end in lovers’ meetings, every wise man’s son doth know.’ — William Shakespeare

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the disastrous first meeting of Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet at the Meryton Assembly provided each with a ready-made set of prejudices to apply to the other. But when a horrific rural accident reveals Darcy to be a man of active, intelligent benevolence, and Elizabeth, in the absence of her appalling family, to be an extraordinary lady of courage and decision—then surely the course of true love will run smoothly.

But alas, the lovers’ meeting is not the end but a new beginning. For though they have found each other, a seeming multitude of complications—a catastrophic flood, the last wishes of a dying friend, Lydia’s misfortunes, a dastardly Member of Parliament, and even their own fears— contrives to come between them and their ‘journey’s end.’

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: February 2021)

I love the hands…some discreet hand contact there… 😉

Judging from the few articles of clothing we see, this couple is dressed very finely. I wonder where they are? 👒

Sounds like quite a swoony Mr. Darcy already – I cannot wait! I love when he earns Elizabeth’s admiration and esteem. 💗

What do you think, friends? 🤔

~ About Catherine ~

Catherine Lodge is a retired English lawyer and lecturer, currently living in North Yorkshire. She spends her days reading, admits to a slightly shame-faced addiction to Minecraft, and volunteers to explain IT to the senior citizens at her local library (despite the fact that some of them are younger than she is). She is also prepared to send a fifty-pound/dollar/euro Amazon gift card to the first person who can prove that Colonel Fitzwilliam’s first name is Richard. So there.

You can reach her at catherinelodgebooks@gmail.com and she would love to hear from you, especially if you don’t get the Ancient Briton joke in Chapter 2.

Lovers’ Meeting, once known as A New Beginning to online readers at A Happy Assembly and fanfiction.net, is Catherine’s second novel. She published Fair Stands the Wind in 2017.

  1. Woot! Lovely cover Catherine! I can’t wait to read this one. The snippets Q&Q have put out have been thoroughly tantalising. Cant wait! Thanks for sharing, Meredith

    1. Well, this time I hope we’ve got Amazon squared away before the release date. Can you believe it, I’ve had to prove that I haven’t plagiarised my own blinking novel!

  2. Hah! I love hearing that an author recognizes our JAFF foibles. There are so many things we’ve normalized, as a group, that we tend to assume are “facts” of Austendom…. even though Jane never wrote them. (Hedgerows, anyone?)

“Richard” may have been normalized as the Colonel’s given name in a great deal of fanfic, but Jane Austen never named him that! 🙂

  3. I really enjoyed Fair Stands The Wind and I’m intrigued by this story.
I’m hoping it means that Darcy and Elizabeth are together, fighting all who try to come between them? (One of my favourite storylines!)
I’m looking forward to more info and excerpts.
I love the hand holding on the cover, so subtle!
I shop on U.K. so am unable to spend .com vouchers.

  4. How very exciting! What a lovely cover for what is sure to be a wonderful story. I absolutely adored Fair Stands the Wind and have re-read it a number of times over the years. I will certainly be looking forward to this and any other future release from Ms. Lodge!

  5. Very Exciting! I really enjoyed “Fair Stands the Wind” and look forward to this next book. Best Wishes Catherine!

  6. If this book is going to be published by Q&Q publishing, it is bound to be good. Love the cover and I am hoping that in this story D&E have gotten their pride and personal prejudices out of the way, that they can present a united front to those who would oppose them–my favorite story line. And about the name “Richard”, I’m sure it can be proven somehow–let me think…

  7. Congratulations, Catherine! Very exciting news, indeed! Can’t wait for this to be released as I so enjoyed ‘Fair Stands the Wind’. This cover is very intriguing…touching hands and that hat! It seems to me as if ‘he’ is telling ‘her’ to let ‘him’ handle ‘this’…

  8. The hands do draw you in, but I also like the color blue of the ribbon and the use of blue in the title. The blurb sounds like much will be happening with our couple. Thank you for the giveaway to purchase the lovely books from Q&Q.

  9. Très belle couverture !! Félicitations à l’auteur ! Très tentée de découvrir ce roman Merci pour ce concours 🙂

  10. Do not enter me into the contest, but the cover looks really good. I think of southern Europe and of wild places seeing it.

  11. Lovely cover. I have not read this author’s stories so will add them to my Wish List. This one sounds intriguing. Thanks for a chance to win the generous prize.

  12. Stunning cover and I love the book description. It sounds like a real tale of courage & I’m a BIG fan of those!!

I don’t think his first name is Richard… Jane had something else for him in mind, or at least I have. The Colonel always reminds me of my grandfather. I picture him so => same temperament, sideburns, brown leather boots & a … pipe? Ok, so technically my grandad smoked cigarets not a pipe. You should not smoke at all nowadays, but that does not take away from the romantic image I have in my heart. Of both my Grandfather and dear Colonel Fitzwilliam. His name therefor surely must be the same as my grandfathers name,Theodore!!

  13. I loved Fair Stands the Wind. I remember wanting more, so I look forward to reading this new release from a very good writer. Q&Q knows how to pick the best of them!

    1. You can find me as Maisedoat, there’s one or two short pieces still up tho, thanks to the perils of perfidious plagiarists, I’ve had to take down the published stuff.

  14. First of all… Beautiful Cover. Really eye-catching and lovely. Secondly, I can’t WAIT to read this story. I love when these two endure a veritable “Odyssey” to get to their happily-ever-after. Looking forward to seeing what obstacles they must overcome and discomfort them will endure to get to one another.

  15. Congratulations on your new book! Intriguing cover, what I gather is they are outdoors (with bonnet and the grass as a give-away) and there is something in FD’s touch (keeping the lady from going a different direction but not in a possessive/commanding way)

I know from the original P & P, Richard wasn’t mentioned as the name of Col. Fitzwilliam. (there’s a Richard in Chapter 14 in Meryton) I am just assuming this had been used by authors lately as the meaning of Richard is brave or strong leader. Also, Ms Amy D’ Oracio mentioned in one of her posts (in a book tour) that a certain Viscount Richard Fitzwilliam lived during Jane Austen’s time (1745-1816). I wonder if Ms Austen just patterned Colonel’s character from him.

    Thank you for this post.

  16. Absolutely gorgeous cover! The book sounds like a lot of fun. Congratulations, Catherine! (And I’d be interested in that proof about Colonel F’s name, too )

    1. If anyone provides the proof, I’m going to have to eat an awful lot of crow all over the internet!

  17. The cover is lovely and suggests a story in and of itself! Fair Stands the Wind was beautifully written, so I am anxious to read this new offering congratulations, Catherine, on this new success – please keep writing!

  18. I’m looking forward to reading this new story. The cover is lovely. And how did I miss Darcy as a naval captain? Must go back for that one ASAP!

  19. Thank you for hosting Catherine’s book, Meredith! I adore her voice and this story and love this cover. Can’t wait for everyone to read it!

  20. Oh, such a sweet cover. They are being so careful. With just a slight touch to indicate his affection. Lovely, I can’t wait to see what this is about. I have a feeling I’ll need to put on extra layers of protection as I gird up my loins for the angst in this story. I was breathing heavily just reading this short blub. Whew! Thanks for hosting Meredith. Thanks to Q&Q Publishing for the generous giveaway. Blessings everyone.

  21. Lovely cover! I love the covert, tentative, almost shy meeting of their hands. Maybe you can’t entirely judge a book by its cover, but I want to see what’s inside this one ❤️

  22. Beautiful cover. The story sounds like an enjoyable distraction that knowing the author and the publisher will be fun to read. Cannot wait to get my copy!

  23. I’ll be the broken record here…beautiful cover…omg. And I too loved Fair Stands the Wind, now I need to go reread that, pronto. I want to read the new book right now! I know it’s going to be soon, so I’ll wish you the very best with its launch.

  24. Ooh, I do like that cover very much! And you really can’t ever have too many P&P variations. I do love seeing the different ways that Elizabeth and Darcy meet.

  25. Good luck with the release Catherine! A lovely cover for what looks to be a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing with us – and thank you Q&Q for the giveaway.

  26. Lovely cover and I look forward to reading more after this short snippet. Thanks for the chance to win a copy.
I have always liked the Colonel being Richard, he is one of my favorite Austen characters. I enjoy reading stories where he is given more depth and a name.

  27. Love the cover so much, it’s so attractive. My favorite part in a pride and prejudice variation is their first meeting. Lovers’ meeting is just about that so I can’t wait for your launch. Hope you success Catherine.

  28. A lovely post and a lovely cover! I’m not familiar with this author, but the premise of the story is certainly intriguing. And I already like the author because I DESPISE the name of Richard for Col Fitzwilliam. Wishing y’all good things in 2021.

  29. What a lovely cover, Catherine. If I’m not wrong, I think the models are wearing non-Regency clothes, more like Georgian period to me. Thank you for highlighting this upcoming release to us, Meredith.
