Cover Reveal + Giveaway for Love Unsought!!!

Hi dear readers! It has been quite a busy season for new Austenesque releases!!! 📚 There are so many lovely new books we are celebrating at the moment, and I am so happy to have the “party” continue with a beautiful cover reveal from Kay Bea!!! I am so excited to hear that Kay Bea has a new book coming out soon!!! As you may remember, Kay’s first release – Letters from the Heart – was one of our most favorite reads of 2019! I cannot wait to learn more about Love Unsought! 😍

~ Book Description ~

Love unsought is good, but given unsought is better”
Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy seem determined to misunderstand one another, and after his disastrous proposal, both are eagerly wishing to forget their acquaintance. But fate, with assistance from Darcy’s scheming cousins, contrives to keep them together.
When Miss Darcy is summoned to Kent, the couple has a chance to begin anew, and their budding friendship carries them to London and Hertfordshire. Their feelings deepen but before their new understanding is made known, Elizabeth is sent to Brighton as chaperone to her youngest sister. Her stay there ends in ruin when Darcy’s past comes to call.
Upon discovering the situation is worse than he feared, Darcy determines he must be the one to make things right. His departure leaves Elizabeth in doubt and their future in question. Was their love too new to withstand a scandal?
A series of missed chances, misdirected letters, and miscommunications keeps the couple apart; it may require the intervention of their nearest relations to bring them back together.

~ From the Author ~

Thank you for inviting me back, Meredith. I am so excited to return to Austenesque Reviews for Love Unsought’s cover reveal!

This story is especially close to my heart because it was the first I wrote in Jane Austen’s world. There were several other stories of varying lengths that were completed before Love Unsought, but this one is my baby. When I started reading Austen variations, I was insatiable. I think I read nearly every completed story available on fanfiction.net and A Happy Assembly before I discovered other forums and started reading there as well. All of that reading could only lead to one thing – a desire to craft my own tale.

I was thinking about Darcy’s past. A twenty-eight-year-old man of sense and education, familiar with the world, and born to the upper echelon of society, could not have reached his age without some kind of entanglement. I wondered how a bad relationship might have changed him. From there, I started considering the other “what ifs” and soon enough I had the foundations of a story. I clicked the icon and started typing.

I learned so much about the writing process with this book. When I first set fingers to keyboard, I thought I would begin with “Once upon a time” and finish up with “they all lived happily ever after, The End.” I had no idea I would write the end long before I wrote the middle, or that sometimes connecting the dots would be incredibly difficult. It was my first experience with sudden, late-night inspiration and words that refused to be silenced. It was also the first time I truly appreciated the need for an outline!

This book had no title until I was more than halfway through the writing of it. I was searching Shakespearean quotes about love and came across this one, “Love sought is good, but giv’n unsought is better.” It was perfect, both for the context in which it was needed, and as inspiration for the title. Elizabeth and Darcy are neither one looking for an attachment, but one finds them anyway.

Let’s talk about that cover! Quills and Quartos found an amazing designer. Ardent Artist Book Design created a scene that could have come directly off the pages of Love Unsought. It’s soft and romantic and I just love it. She is waiting, and once again, he will come for her.

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: June 15th)

So. In. Love. 💗 The dusty rose color is so arresting in the cover! I love how the flowers and background match the coloring so beautifully. 💗

I love the overall soft and diaphanous lighting of this cover, it looks like such a dreamy and magical scene.

Poor Elizabeth! In ruin in Brighton?! 😧

I love that she is waiting for him, and that he will come. 🥰

What do you think, friends? 🤔

  7. I love this cover! I am very interested- never read a story where Elizabeth ends up in Brighton!

    1. When I started writing it, I hadn’t either. The idea intrigued me and here we are. Thank you for stopping by.

    1. You know….the cover inspired me to alter the color of Elizabeth’s dress in a pivotal scene. Thank you for taking time to comment!

  8. This book sounds intriguing. At first I thought it was going to be a rehash of the Hundsford proposal in P&P, however I now see that it veers into quite a different path: Darcy with a past and Elizabeth ruined? I can’t wait to read how the cousins get involved. WooHoo! Looking forward to its release.

    1. I think you’ll be at least a little fond of my Anne and Col. Fitzwilliam, but I’m biased. Thank you!

  9. I read this as an unpublished story…TWICE…loved it. Congratulations on the release. I also read this author’s other story. I received an ARC of Love Unsought and loved the story all over again. I highly recommend it.

  10. Congratulations, Kay Bea. Can’t wait for this one to release—I think you will love it, Meredith! The cover is gorgeous—those colors…swoon…

  11. The cover is magical and I can sense Elizabeth’s waiting for Mr. Darcy. I am intrigued with Darcy leaving and what the entanglement is. Congratulations of this new book. Thank you for the giveaway.

    1. Yes! I love that description….it is magical! This is the second time a cover could have dropped straight from a scene in the book. I am most fortunate!

  12. What a lovely cover! I enjoyed your first book and I would wish you good luck with this one, but I have a feeling that you are not going to need it!

  13. Congratulations on the release of your “baby”!!! Woo hoo! Best wishes. What a beautiful cover!

  14. Congratulations! So excited to see another book, and ‘your baby’, being released! I am definitely looking forward to this one as I so loved your “Letters From the Heart” that I have re-read it twice already. The cover is just lovely…I love that slightly hazy look as if Darcy’s vision is blurred until he makes things right.

    1. Hi Carole! I’m glad to “see” you here! Twice? That makes my heart sing. Oh…what a perfect description of what happens with Darcy. I love it.

  15. The pink is so pretty and soft, but the story sounds intruiging and passionate. I wonder about Darcy’s past, as handsome and honorable as he is, I agree there must still be more to him. What shaped him into the man we all ardently love and admire….

You can never have too much of a good thing and your book sounds lovely Kay!!! I bet it was worth all your hard work, hope it goes well for you 🙂

    1. It’s been worth it from the first word. Thank you! I think the story has a bit of all those things….a bit of intrigue, a smattering of passion, and just enough soft edges.

  16. Meredith… another cover reveal, yeah!!… [Hello to your Mr. Bingley] I love your blog header and the walking-trail pictures with the books you are reading. You guys rock!

Kay Bea, all I can say is Wow! This cover is simply amazing. It is everything everyone before me has described and yet… this one made me feel. I could sense her longing… that anticipation and wonder as to what had happened. I could feel her questioning… should she trust or should she let it go… and yet… she couldn’t let go any easier than she could stop breathing. I felt all of that. I have followed your writing for several years. I looked in my file and realized I first read this on the fan forums back in 2017, then again in 2019… I’ve just received an ARC from the publisher and I plan to read it again. I can’t wait to see what you have done. Blessings on your career and I hope you are safe and healthy. Good luck to everyone in the drawing.

    1. Sweet cover and the premise sounds very interesting. Congratulations on the release of your second book Kay ❤️

  17. It sounds a very interesting premise and the cover is gorgeous! I can’t wait to read! I always love reading how JAFF authors “caught the (writing) bug”, it was great reading the statement from Kay Bea about her journey 🙂

  18. OMG I cannot wait to read this…the cover is amazing..i have a habit of picking books by what the cover looks like and this def I nicely would catch my eye…

  19. Wow! I really love the cover! And I’m curious to see the things that transpired to get the family and friends involved in actively trying to bring them together, what did they see that led to their knowing these two should be together? Can’t wait, pre-ordered this book!

    1. Thank you, Danielle! I think you’ll find Darcy’s cousins are a little nosy…but only in the best of ways! Happy reading!

  20. I will come in later tonight to respond to everyone individually, but I just wanted to pop by and say…you’re making me cry! Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words; I can’t wait for you to read this!

  21. An absolutely gorgeous cover! I’m so looking forward to reading this! Thanks for the giveaway.

  22. I truly enjoyed “Letters from the Heart.” I look forward to this book with hope for the same enjoyment. It is a lovely cover. I appreciate your using KU. Thank you for creating these stories and for giving the opportunity to win.

    1. Thank you…I’m always pleased to hear someone has read and enjoyed my work. KU is great. For years it was the only way I could read all the published JAFFI wanted to. Happy reading!

  23. What a beautiful cover! The picture as well as the colors really brings the title’s emotions front and center. Congrats on your upcoming release! I’m looking forward to reading it.

  24. Hi Kay Bea–I enjoyed one book you’ve written, and your upcoming story sounds very interesting. I would be happy to win a prize. Thank you for the opportunity.

  25. I read this on fanfiction.net, and enjoyed it very much. Congratulations on the cover – I love dusty rose too!

  26. Beautiful cover! I also appreciate the non-script font for the title and readable script for your name. I find it’s often difficult to read scripted titles and author names on thumbnails, especially if the font is too scrolled. This is beautifully done. I so enjoyed Letters from the Heart and look forward to reading this one. All the best to you!

    1. Thank you. I’m glad you like it. I always like to hear when someone has enjoyed my previous work and I hope you like the new book as well.

  27. Congratulations on the new book!! The cover is just beautiful and just how I would imagine Elizabeth. Thanks for the giveaway. –Leslie

  28. Love the cover, Kay! I can hardly wait to read this book. Darcy is indeed honorable, but even honorable men and women have a past. So excited for this one!!

  29. What a lovely cover! I think I am in a mood for an angsty book as it seems as if I am neither fully happy nor fully sad, and I think this should be in my TBR pile. (I wish that pile wouldn’t turn into a mountain!)

Anyway, congrats on the cover! It is most gorgeous, especially the pink dress and well-coordinated white gloves. I hope the best for you on this book!

  30. I can’t say anything any better than has already been stated, but wow…brilliant cover. Your cover designer did an outstanding job. The very best of luck on the release of ‘your baby,’ may it have great success and bring you lots of encouragement and validation. Can’t wait to read this one.

  31. Oh my! This is one of the most beautiful cover I’ve ever seen! I’m sure the story is as enchanting as the cover.

  32. Pink is my favourite colour so I really love this amazing cover. I agree with what Meredith said, it looks dreamy and surreal. The designer really did a fantastic job with this. Did you contribute some ideas on what to show on the cover, Kay? Can I glimpse the back cover too?

  33. This sounds an interesting story premise and the cover is very romantic. I look forward to reading it! Thanks for the giveaway chance.
