Falling For Mr Darcy

~ Book Description ~

The simple truth is proven that sometimes a gentleman never knows his heart until a lady comes along to introduce it to him. When Mr. Darcy encounters Elizabeth Bennet injured after a fall, his concern for her welfare cracks the shell of his carefully guarded heart, and a charming man emerges. Elizabeth sees an appealing side of him she never believed possible from the stoic, proud master of Pemberley. They find the simple gentlemanly act of assisting her home will test both Mr. Darcy’s resolve to keep his heart safe and Elizabeth’s conviction that this is the last man on earth she might have ever been prevailed upon to marry. Soon, falling for Mr. Darcy becomes a real possibility.

~ From the Author ~

In the excerpt below you will find Darcy mired in his familiar pride and resisting the tugging of his heart for Elizabeth. His cousin, Colonel Fitzwilliam dropped in for a visit. I love Colonel Fitzwilliam, he is one of my favorite characters to write and I especially love his relationship with Darcy. I imagine the two are closer than brothers and know each other well enough to hear what isn’t being said.

~ Excerpt from Falling for Mr. Darcy ~

Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam and his cousin Darcy had been the best of friends from childhood. Richard was a few years Darcy’s senior and, being of a naturally jovial sort, enjoyed teasing his younger cousin. Darcy’s sombre personality made him an easy target, yet he never could be angry with his cousin for his pranks. As the two grew into manhood, their relationship remained essentially the same. Richard would tease and laugh at his cousin, who had learned to laugh at himself occasionally but pretended distaste for Richard’s behaviour.

When the two cousins had settled into comfortable positions, the colonel enquired, “So, where have you been these past few weeks?”

Darcy’s smile faded only slightly as he replied, “In Hertfordshire with Bingley. You remember my friend?”

“Ah, yes, the unnaturally happy one.” He laughed at his cousin’s disapproving face and continued. “What the deuce were you doing in that part of the country?”

“He asked for my advice regarding an estate he is leasing.” His answer was so matter-of-fact that Richard, who knew Darcy better than himself sometimes, detected something unusual about it.

“For two months?”

Darcy shifted in his chair uneasily and shrugged his shoulders with indifference. “He has never had an estate, and there was much to consider.”

Richard merely nodded in acquiescence but sat staring at his cousin for a few minutes. Darcy detected his gaze and tried to ignore it. Whenever his cousin smelled blood, he was ruthless, and Darcy was proud of himself for appearing disinterested in the topic of his recent trip. He hoped his cousin would see nothing amiss.

“Well, I am glad you could lend your experience to your friend. Does he stay in Hertfordshire?”

“Yes, he enjoys the area tremendously; in fact, he has been courting a local gentleman’s daughter.” Darcy flinched slightly at his mistake. Knowing Richard was always interested in hearing about ladies, he should not have brought up Bingley’s news. He held his breath for a moment, hoping his cousin would uncharacteristically ignore the chance to enquire about the lady. His hope was for naught, for when Richard had seen his cousin’s sudden discomfort, he could not help himself and decided to pry deeper.

“You don’t say! Well, good for him. Does Hertfordshire boast many good looking ladies?”

“There are a few handsome ones, yes.” Darcy nonchalantly brushed an invisible speck of dust off his trousers.

“I had not known Hertfordshire was the place to meet fine ladies. It has been a while since I have been in company with Bingley. Perhaps I ought to pay him a visit.” Richard watched his cousin squirm and realised that a lady was behind his discomfort. The idea was completely fascinating as he had never before seen his cousin enamoured by any lady. This lady must be something special, indeed, to have caught his cousin’s interest.

Darcy, on the other hand, was trying desperately to keep his composure at the thought of his handsome and naturally charming cousin travelling to Hertfordshire and possibly making the acquaintance of Elizabeth. She was so witty and delightful when she teased and stunning when her laughter brought a sparkle to her eyes that he knew his cousin would immediately take to her. What if he is able to win her affections? The idea boiled inside him, and for a moment, he could do nothing but torture himself with the image of Elizabeth as his cousin’s wife.

With a serious tone, Richard looked at his cousin and asked, “Who is she, Darcy?”

Gah! I love Colonel Fitzwilliam and his knowing ways!!!

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: January 13th)

Okay, that dress and Elizabeth’s face are all kinds of fabulous!! 😍

Low key, that is the pose I do most my reading in… 😁

I love the glorious details of all the fabrics used in this cover, just beautiful! 🧵

Haunting Mr Darcy: A Spirited Courtship

~ Book Description ~

2015 IPPY BRONZE MEDAL WINNER FOR ROMANCE!

What happens to the happily ever after when the ever after has already happened?

A spirited courtship indeed! Jane Austen’s much adored Pride and Prejudice is transfigured in this regency adaptation. That fickle friend Fate intervenes when an unexpected event threatens the happily ever after of literature’s favorite love story. The gentlemen from Netherfield have left, winter is upon the land and after a horrifying carriage accident, Elizabeth Bennet finds her spirit transported as if by magic into Mr. Darcy’s London home. Paranormally tethered to the disagreeable man, it doesn’t help that he believes she is a phantasm of his love struck mind, not the real Elizabeth. Somehow they must learn to trust, learn to love and learn to bring Elizabeth back to her earthly form before it is too late.

~ From the Author ~

During much of the book Elizabeth’s spirit is tethered in some magical way to Darcy. She cannot be further than a few paces from him.  This makes for some truly delicious scenes where one or the other experience a myriad of emotions. I have to admit that doing this to our dear couple was one of my greatest sources of entertainment while writing this book.

~ Excerpt from Haunting Mr. Darcy ~

Unwittingly, Darcy took Elizabeth on an abbreviated tour of the house as he made his way. Upon exiting the library, he entered into a wide passage that led to what seemed to be the front entry. If she had wished to make herself known to him, she was unable, for at that moment she was struck quite mute at the beautiful paintings that lined the vestibule and corridors through which he travelled. She nearly called out to him to stop as she wished to gaze a little longer at many of the paintings, but the gentleman seemed quite determined to reach his destination and at the earliest instance.

Her unguided tour concluded when he came to the end of a passageway, entered through a doorway, and closed it behind him, leaving her on the other side. Until that time, Elizabeth had been absolutely fixated on the rich colours and muted elegance of the residence through which she glided. Not once, she noted, did Darcy look back at her, and though she half expected it at any point along the route, she found she was glad for it. She was certain she would not wish for him to see the awe that was surely on her face as she admired his home.

The invisible pull that compelled her forward momentum halted just as she reached the closed door. Grateful for the momentary break to feel as if she were once again mistress of her own destiny, Elizabeth took the time to prepare herself for what she was certain would be a bizarre and troubling encounter. However, much to her annoyance, before she would declare herself quite ready, the tug of her person once again propelled her through the solid door.

She entered just in time to witness the gentleman—to her horror, embarrassment and shock—pull his shirt over his head and stride into another room, exposing her eyes to the breadth and strength of his back. It was then that Elizabeth realised, in the most alarming manner, that she stood in what appeared to be his bedchamber. Panic seized her as she turned and struggled against the boundary line. Her thoughts were a jumble of dread and maidenly shame. Elizabeth’s fists pounded on the unseen wall as her eyes squeezed shut and a blush scorched her face. Pray, God, have mercy on me! Let me but disappear!

Her pleas had at least the benefit of easing her panic as, without hope, her shoulders slumped, and she realised she was already invisible except to the one person for whom she wished to be. Her cheeks still blooming with the deepest of blushes, Elizabeth travelled the boundary line in a mortified state for soon she recognised the sounds of water splashing in a tub from the other side of the door. Never in her life had she felt so exposed and uncomfortable.

Wake up, wake up, wake up! she bleakly cried to herself. Her hands ran through her hair, dislodging its careful coiffeur. The feel of her hair tumbling to her shoulders ceased her anxious movements. She quickly re-pinned her hair, feeling absurdly calmed by the mindless process. She could not add to the impropriety of being in the gentleman’s chamber by having her hair unbound. Laughing without humour, Elizabeth settled into hopeless pacing across the rug, constantly testing the invisible border and praying it would move.

Delicious scene, indeed! I appreciate all the brilliant ways you played with this scenario!!

And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: January 13th)

What a beautiful cover! I love how the light is emanating from Elizabeth’s phantasmal being. ✨

I love the open book on the cover, again wonderful detail and texture. 📖

What do you think, friends? 🤔

~ About KaraLynne ~

KaraLynne began writing horrible poetry as an angst filled youth. It was a means to express the
exhilaration and devastation she felt every time her adolescent heart was newly in love with “the one” and then broken every other week. As her frontal lobe developed, she grew more discerning of both men and writing. She has been married to her own dreamboat of a best friend, Andrew, for 17 years.

Together they have the migraine inducing responsibility of raising five children to not be dirt bags
(fingers crossed), pick of up their socks (still a work in progress), not fight with each other (impossible task) and become generally good people (there’s hope). She loves escaping into a book, her feather babies (the regal hens of Cluckingham Palace), and laughter.

She has written four books and participated in many anthologies including: Falling For Mr. Darcy;
Bluebells in the Mourning; Haunting Mr. Darcy: A Spirited Courtship; Yours Forevermore, Darcy; The
Darcy Monologues; Rational Creatures; and Sun-Kissed: Effusions of Summer.

  6. Two gorgeous new covers! Although I’ve got copies of both books, “Haunting” in its original paperback form with the IP bronze medallion on the front, I only appear to have read that one. Must get around to reading “Falling” sometime soon as the excerpt has intrigued me greatly. This Richard sounds as though he’s determined to dig out the truth about his cousin,

  7. Lovely covers and congratulations on the re-releases of 2 of my favorite books. I was looking to reread “Haunting” recently and had to resort to my local library for a copy.

  8. Happy day! KaraLynne Mackrory was among the first authors I read when discovering the amazing treasures of JAFF. Falling, Yours Forevermore and Bluebells were on KU, and I read those and looked happily for more. I purchased Haunting, and by the time I wanted to re-read the magic of all again they were unavailable. I’ve been watching for their re-release and bought FFMD immediately today lest someone change their mind lol! The new covers are beautiful. Q&Q is certainly doing justice to the wonderful author’s work we have the good fortune to enjoy. Thank you Meredith, for your entertaining and informative blog and reviews that I follow with pleasure! Congratulations and many thanks to KaraLynne, and the best of good wishes on each re-release!

(And before I forget: great covers!)

    congratulations on your new release

  21. Congratulations on the release and stunning covers. I agree that the material in Elizabeth’s dress is exquisite. Thank you for the excerpts and giveaway.

  22. Loved the new book covers and her stories. I think I have read all of her books–Karalynne is a phenomenal author and one can count on her books to be interesting, well written stories. Congrats on this new phase of your writing journey!

  23. A huge congratulations on the rereleases and the beautiful covers. I’ve loved all your books, you’re an amazing author. Haunting Mr Darcy gets reread at least once a year here. I hope for you that the rereleases bring a lot of new readers to your stories. And I hope this means for your devoted fans this means you’re bringing us some new works soon, even though bringing these back surely was a whole lot of work. Not to mention those five darlings you are raising.

Are there significant changes that indicate I should repurchase them?

  24. Gorgeous covers, especially the first one. That gown-wow! Loved the excerpts and can’t wait to read both books. The only question is, which do I start with? 🙂

  25. I just re-read Haunting Mr. Darcy with the original title from my statewide library program, and it was just as delightful as I remembered!! I can’t wait to read Falling for Mr. Darcy!!

Thanks, Karalynne, for sharing the covers (although I might actually prefer the original cover for Haunting) and the excerpt, plus the kind giveaway!!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

  26. Both covers are really beautiful, Karalynne. But just a tiny slip that I noticed. I think the lady on the cover of Falling for Mr. Darcy is wearing Georgian dress so she couldn’t be Elizabeth. Perhaps she is Mrs Bennet or you set the novel to begin much earlier than in canon?

The excerpts are entertaining btw. I wonder how you came up with this delicious scenario in Haunting Mr. Darcy. If I were Elizabeth, I would certainly react the same way as her.

  27. I have read and Loved both of these books before as well as having read Bluebells in the Mourning and Yours Forevermore, Darcy. If the four of them I think that my favorite was Falling for Mr. Darcy. Both of these new covers are really pretty.

Congratulations on re-releasing these 2 books and thank you for the generous giveaway!
