Austenesque Agenda – September 2018

AA

Hi friends! How is September treating you so far? Are you ready for autumn? (I’m not!) lol! I can never get enough of the beach and summer weather. 😉

Speaking of, we’ve been trying to soak up as much summer as possible this past month! Even though Mr. Bingley and I have had a lot of house projects and work projects to keep us busy, we’ve managed to fit in some lovely visits to the beach.

And last weekend we went on a 4 day camping trip in Tennessee! We attended a Toyota overland vehicle event with my brother, and both boys had fun driving their 4×4 vehicles on all sorts of trails – with dust, mud, and rocks!

No driving for me, I enjoyed being a passenger!

And, of course, seeing all the scenery. (and taking pictures!) 😉

*I do apologize if it seems I have been absent a lot from my blog, I have wanted to interact with you all much more than I have been able to. It was mostly due to my real job and working on lots of projects (including making a new website). But now that I have finished all that I’m hoping to have more time to devote to reading, blogging, and chatting it up with you all!

I am so very excited for September!  I’ve got a lot to look forward to!

What are your plans for this month?

  1. Your photos are incredible as always Meredith. I enjoy travelling ‘with’ you. I’m looking forward to your posts this month. I’ve read The Darcy Legacy, A Searing Acquaintance, The Events at Branxbourne and Yearning For You.
I have Proof of Love and that will be my next read. I look forward to your thoughts.
I am also looking forward to reading some of the others which are on my list.

    1. Thanks, my friend! I enjoy taking them and sharing them with you all! 🙂 I’m so glad you are looking forward to what I have scheduled this month! I am too! 🙂 Hope you enjoy Proof of Love as much as I did!

  2. Like Glynis, I love travelling with you and Mr. Bingley. Your trips are always so exciting and the pictures are often breathtaking. I am looking forward to hearing what you think of Proof of Love and Joana Starnes’ newest book, which I loved. I have read Caitlin Williams’ book and the latest by Lory Lilian and my pal Jennifer Redlarczyk, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed. So much to look forward to in September!

    1. Thank you, Brenda! We are determined and eager to see this world and its beauty! 🙂

Yes, I”m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on both your book and Joana’s soon! So great to read both! And I’m eager for the other reads I have planned this month. 🙂

  3. The truck road rally looked fun and the views gorgeous. Sneaking in just one more trip to the beach before the weather turns sounds like a great idea to me.

Oh, nice agenda of visitors and review books for you. Hope your real life responsibilities slow down so you can enjoy this side more. 🙂

    1. It was a lot of fun! It was our first time doing something like. And it was so different from what we have near us – just coast and beach, not a lot of rocks and mountains.

Me too! I’m already feeling better since I am able to respond to comments today. 🙂 Great way to start the day!

  4. Goodness, you have lots lined up this month. I’m looking forward to knowing your thoughts on these books.

Love the pics of what you’ve been up to!

    1. Thanks, Ceri! I’m forever trying to catch up and for some reason this summer I was constantly falling behind. :/

Hope you enjoy a great month too!
      Meredith

  5. Wow some road trip Meredith! And exciting things coming up on your blog. I’m especially looking forward to reading your review of ‘The Events at Branxbourne’. I loved that book!

  6. These are great phptos , thank you for sharing. Thanks for sharing lizzy Brandon’s new book. Makes it easier for me to keep track of new releases

  7. Woo! What an agenda this month….! Love your pictures, I always enjoy them anyway but especially the ones with you two in them. But that sunset, wow.

  8. Meredith, I’m thrilled to be part of your blog this month and hope lots of folks will stop by for “Darcy’s Birthday Party” and have some cake while reading my post. See you soon. Jen

  9. Oh, Meredith… what delightful photos. Yeah, Tenn is beautiful country and the state just south of me. I am so glad you had an opportunity to get out and about. Thanks for sharing those photos with us. I like the little character on the hood of Mr. Bingley’s truck. Is that his mimi-me? Adorable. You have a full schedule and we do not begrudge you any time that you take for yourself or to take care of RL [real-life] issues. It happens. Blessings on the rest of your summer and hope you get a few more sunny days on the beach in before it becomes too cold to do so. Special hello to Mr. Bingley.

    1. Thank you!! I’ve been to Tennessee twice now and greatly enjoyed it! hopefully I will make it to Kentucky one day!

Haha! Mr. Bingley named is truck Ernie, so we travel with a little Ernie with us and I like to take him out and take pictures with him. 🙂

We are hoping to enjoy some more beach today…it looks like we might have a hurricane coming towards us next weekend!

  10. Thrilled to see my book here and among so many other books I want to read! And being featured in a post with all those wonderful travel pictures is the icing on the cake. Thanks, Meredith!

  11. Thanks for sharing more of your amazing photos with us, Meredith. We’ve not been anywhere really exciting recently as I’ve spent most of the last two weeks laid up with a flu-type bug and now a chest infection. The silver lining to that cloud is that I’ve had lots of reading time!

I was lucky enough to win a copy of the final instalment of the Conscience series by Cat Gardiner recently, so that’s next up on my list and in preparation I’ve just read all the preceding works in the series back-to-back. That works really well, by the way, and I’m so looking forward to I Good Conscience. That’ll be followed by one of those on your list – Joana Starnes’ The Darcy Legacy. I’ve also got A Searing Acquaintance and Kitty Bennet and The Belle Epoque somewhere on my TBR list, Obstacles looks like an intriguing modern take on P&P and the setting is one that is reasonably familiar as our future daughter-in-law works with horses in a show jumping and eventing stable!

My current audiobook is Joy King’s Mr. Darcy’s Mail Order Bride, which is a definite departure from the Regency for her and I’m loving what I’ve heard so far. Then I might follow that with the new full cast dramatisation of Emma that’s just come out from Audible. As with last year’s Northanger Abbey, the narrator (i.e. jane Austen) is played by Emma Thompson and I loved her somewhat ironic delivery. It also features Joanne Froggatt of Downton Abbey fame.

Looking forward to what you have coming up this month, as always. Don’t worry about taking time away, though. That pesky thing known as Real Life does have a tendency to get in the way, as I know to my cost and it’s one of the reasons I tend to drop off the radar from time to time. We’ll all still be here for you, lapping up your lists and reviews whenever you post them.

    1. Hello Anji. Two things, first I am sorry you have had to deal with some nasty bug for the past few weeks and I hope you recover completely in short order!. Secondly, isn’t Joy King’s ‘Mr Darcy’s Mail Order Bride’ a totally delightful surprise!? I recently finished it and was like, ‘Who can I talk to about this? This is amazing.’ I see tons of mail order brides books out there and have just never been interested. But, this is Joy King, so , duh! But still different than any of her others.

    2. Oh Anji! I’m so sorry to hear you’ve caught a bug and infection I hope you are feeling better now!

Such a great reading plan! I definitely hope to do the same, myself! Such terrific reads! I hope you enjoy The Darcy Legacy – I loved it! I adored J. Dawn King’s Mr. Darcy’s Mail Order Bride. Joy did such a fabulous job with the setting! I’d love to see more stories take place in the Pacific Frontier.

Thank you for your kind understanding! I miss my blog and blog friends so much when I don’t get to interact and visit with them often!

  12. Love the photos. Glad you found time for pleasure: the beach or off-road riding. I have not read Summer Scandal or Recognizing Love. (Has this last one been released?) I read Darcy’s Melody but only as a WIP and want to read the published version. Will look for your reviews. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi Sheila! Thanks so much for your visit! I just finished Summer of Scandal and loved it!! I believe Recognizing Love will be released in the middle of this month. 🙂

Hope you enjoy a lovely September!

  13. I enjoy getting your coming soon list each month
Especially happy to see Belen has published Obstacles.
    Can’t wait to start reading

  14. Heading to the Reno Air Races next week to research my third novel (the second is in the works now) and hopefully catching up on my reading. I’m excited for Obstacles! I’ve heard so many great things.

    1. Ooh! that sounds like a lot of fun! And yay!!

Double yay for the catching up on reading! I’m hoping to catch up some too! I can’t wait to learn more about Obstacles, I love finding new authors!
