Austenesque Agenda – October 2017

AA

Hello friends!  Happy October to you!  Does it feel like Autumn where you are?

It started to feel a little cooler here October 1st!  I don’t think I’ll be venturing to the beach that much now.  No worries!  For those of you that remember my summer goal I set myself of bringing 20 different books to the beach!  I was able to complete it!  Just in time!  My last beach visit was on September 21st!

Here is the proof! (not in order)

Other reading, blogging, and celebrating anniversaries (Mr. Bingley and I celebrated 9 years on September 14th) and as you may remember Austenesque Reviews celebrated 8 years on September 22nd!  We have been busy, busy, busy with our respective jobs!  My studio had some remodeling work done, and so I’ve been busy outfitting the new rooms, buying new room furniture, and hiring a new teacher!  Mr. Bingley also has had a lot of new work for his job too.  So the month was definitely filled with a lot of work hours! I think we have been to the home improvement store more than the grocery store this month! LOL! 😉

During our free time we haven’t done too much (sadly we were working weekends too!)  But we hope to have some fun trips in October and November! 😉

  1. Hi Meredith,
Congrats on your succesful goal! 21 books OMG! 🙂
Here in Madrid it’s not feel like October because it’s so hot! But we have no beaches so hot weather isn’t useful LOL
Your anniversary was the 14 th! My birthday was the 13 th! Happy Anniversary! .
Now, I’m reading “Holidays with Jane: trick or sweet” and I’m enjoying the reading a lot because it puts me in the mood for Halloween and besides the stories portray the kind of Halloween I like: magic but not gore (I don’t like zombies ) so I’m having a great time with these beautiful inspired Jane Austen stories.
I vote for the Emma version.
    Happy October my friend! 😉

    1. Thank you, Teresa! Are your Octobers normally warm? Definitely sounds like summer weather! 😉 But I do agree, having the beach nearby keeps it from being too brutal. Although sometimes even the beaches can’t help the humidity!

Happy belated birthday! I hope you enjoyed a lovely day! I’m so glad you are reading Holidays with Jane: Trick or Sweet! And I agree completely agree with yup about about it being the kind of Halloween stories I like! Hope you have a lovely October! 🙂

  2. I love it! I miss summer so much. I enjoyed your beach reads posts. I loved how enthused you were for all the books — thank you!

    Bring back summer. XO

#TheDarcyMonologuesLive — our Darcy had a magnificent summer. Le sigh.

    1. Thank you, Christina! I am at a crossroads, some days I want to hold onto summer, but now that October is here, I am a little excited for wearing long sleeves, boots, and enjoying fall treats with pumpkin and apples! 😉 I’m glad you enjoyed the summer posts. Maybe I’ll do it again next summer! 😉

Technically The Darcy Monologues is the only book I took to two different beaches! 😉

  3. Hi! Glad you made it to 21! It must be so nice to live near the beach!
I vote for First & then. Pride & Prejudice is and always will be my first love 🙂

  4. Congratulations Meredith! Managing to read all those as well as all your other ‘duties’ is an accomplishment indeed!
I’ve read A Quest For Mr Darcy, Particular Attachments, Darcy in Wonderland and These Dreams – all wonderful books.
I started my October by reading On Equal Ground – I highly recommend this one Meredith even if I did get through a pack of tissues.
I also plan on reading The Goodness Of Men, Mistaken & Passages and I look forward to Suzan’s book.
I would vote for First and Then as you know it’s P&P all the way for me.
    Good luck

    1. Thank you, Glynis! 🙂 I’m glad I still had enough time to keep reading this month. If I didn’t have time for that I don’t know what I would have done!

I’m so glad to hear you say they were all wonderful books! 😉 And hearing your recommendation for On Equal Ground makes me want to read it even more! I love emotional reads. 🙂

  5. I really enjoyed your Summer Reads posts and found so many books that I want to read from them. I feel sometimes like I am ‘running against the wind’ when it comes to keeping up with all the new releases and to think there was time when I read everything published. Of course, that was before I started writing. I don’t read when I am writing, but I do add to my Kindle so that I can read in between my books. 🙂 Thrilled that you are going to read Passages. That was my first try at a long story and will always have a special place in my heart. As for choosing, Pride and Prejudice variations are my favs!

    1. Thank you, Brenda! 🙂 There are so many wonderful reads coming out each month – we are spoiled for choice! I can understand not reading while writing, I’ve heard of several authors that do the same. It probably is great to treat yourself to some reading time in between your projects! 😉 I’m very excited about reading Passages! Can’t wait to enjoy one of your lovely and thrilling tales!

      1. Meredith, I have just read Passages and this is another one I highly recommend. I love the characters of both Darcy and Elizabeth in this and really feel for them. Mr Bennet is also lovely in his care and love for Elizabeth. I hope you love it as much as I did.

  6. Hi Meredith, congrats on reaching your target and 9 years of marriage. Looking forward to your review of Particular Intentions. Enjoy all of Leslie’s books. I vote for First and Then. Thank you

    1. Thank you, Michelle! I appreciate it! 🙂 I’m looking forward to reading that one too, especially after meeting Nathaniel! 🙂

      1. Thanks, ladies. It’s from my blog series, “The Thrift Shop Regency Costume Experiment.” 34 posts are almost another novel! Hahaha!

  10. September has certainly been a great month for you between your birthday, anniversary, books at the beach and now renos of your studio and hiring a new teacher! Congratulations! Your guest line-up is fabulous! Can’t wait to see your posts! Absolutely loved ‘These Dreams’! Looking forward to reading Mistaken and Suzan’s new book! All have amazing covers! I’m very curious about ‘Fanny vs Mary’…can’t wait to find out what that is all about! October will hopefully be month I can start doing a little bit more reading myself. I have so many on my Kindle and bookshelf just waiting to be read that I can’t decide where to start first! I think I will start with an actual paperback book! Enjoy your October! It’s our Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend!

    1. It feels very eventful! So much celebrating in such short succession! 🙂 YAY! I’m so glad to hear you loved These Dreams, and I agree! So many lovely covers to admire and gaze at! 😉 The two Meryton Press releases are so exciting! I cannot wait to read those too! The Fanny vs Mary battle will be so much fun! I cannot wait to read all the posts for that! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! I hope you have a great holiday!

  11. Congratulations on the mega month, Meredith! Two wonderful anniversaries and all, those beach reads!

We’re adjusting to Autumn in Switzerland after our jaunt to the West and East coasts where we were blessed with gorgeous weather!

I’d opt for the modern Persuasion read! ❤️

    1. Thank you, Cass! You had a mega month too!!! I bet Switzerland is lovely in autumn, and I bet that you are happy to be home even though all your travels were wonderful! 🙂 So glad you had great weather for it all!

  12. Wow, you got so much beach reading done! Your line up looks great. For the reader vote I seem to be in the minority here, but I’d go for the Emma read.

  13. It’s getting cold here too Meredith, and my beach days are over, but I can still go to my usual café at the beach and look at the ocean with a warm cup of hot chocolate in front of me 🙂
I would love to know your opinion on The Last Best Kiss 🙂

    1. That scene sounds lovely, Rita! I do love to read outside, but inside with a warm beverage is a great option to! 😉 Hope you get to enjoy many wonderful reads this month!

  14. Have a lovely autumn, Meredith! It’s quite lovely here, the leaves have started changing colour, and I hope they won’t be blown off too soon 🙂 Enjoy the books, I loved Nicole’s and Brenda’s, and I’m looking forward to the others, some of them sound wickedly funny!

    1. Thank you, Joana! I love seeing the leaves change colors. We don’t see that too much here sadly! 😉 I’m so glad you enjoyed Nicole’s and Brenda’s! I’m very excited to read them!
