Austenesque Agenda – September 2017

AA

Hi friends!  I can’t tell you how much I look forward to doing this post each month!  I love hearing what is going on in your lives, and feel like it is our chance to catch up with each other a little! 😉

August is always a fun month for us – it is my birthday month and we usually go on vacation at the end of the month!  So I have a few reasons to love it. 🙂

For my birthday, I got some lovely Austenesque and bookish goodies…

Spoiled rotten, aren’t I?  I am very excited to own a lovely Jane Austen coin!  And I am so happy to own some childhood classics that I’ve never read like Anne of Green Gables and A Little Princess.  And I specifically wanted to get Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland so I can appreciate and understand Alexa Adams’s new tale Darcy in Wonderland all the better! 🙂

And look at this cute personalized bag Mr. Bingley had made for me.  Does it look familiar?

At the end of the month, Mr. Bingley and I enjoyed some relaxation and adventure in Montego Bay, Jamaica! 😉  It was beautiful there and we had such a great time!

Riding ATVs through the mud was by far one of my favorite experience on this trip!  Also, I loved being able to eat delicious, fresh, and perfectly ripe pineapple everyday…sigh. 😉 <3

But the best part of the trip is my companion, Mr. Bingley.  He embodies Mr. Bingley’s personality perfectly on vacation – always ready for fun, totally easy-going and unstressed when anything goes wrong, and ready to be spontaneous. <3 I love him so.

  1. I so love your bag Meredith, how lucky are you? I loved Little Women and the others in the set by Louisa M Alcott, also Heidi and Alice in Wonderland so Happy reading!
I am really looking forward to your reviews and interviews this month. I have read A Quest for Mr Darcy – a wonderful book – I know you will love it.
I can’t believe I haven’t read Conceit and Concealment yet as I love Abigail’s books, so I must remedy that as soon as possible..
I’ve read Sharon’s lovely book as well and am now waiting for the next in the series which i believe Sharon is working on.
I will definitely also be reading Fair Stands The Wind, A Less Agreeable Man and Particular Attachments but possibly not all this month!
Happy to hear how much you loved your holiday.

    1. I am the luckiest! I’ve read Little Woman but the three others will be brand new to me when I read them… I missed them in my youth! 😉

I can’t wait to read A Quest for Mr. Darcy, I was just thinking about how much I adore A Fair Prospect, and I bet this one is another winner! 😉

I read Conceit and Concealment while in Jamaica and it was wonderful – very unique!

There certainly is a lot of great reads coming out this month! Thanks for the lovely visit, my friend!

  2. Some lovely birthday gifts. Love your bag. I have just returned from Croatia which was beautiful. Visited Dubrovinik and Lokrum where they film Game of Thrones which was amazing. Soooo excited for what you have coming up. I have read all of Sharon, Leslie and Anigail’s books apart from their latest releases, so cannot wait for your reviews on them. Love the Jamaica pics. Looked such good fun x

    1. Thank you, Michelle! I love it! 🙂 Your trip looked amazing, I was admiring so many of your pictures on FB! I’ve never been to Croatia, it looks lovely! 😉 How fun to see places that you’ve seen on TV! It’s great to see so many of our favorite authors come out with new books! 🙂 Thanks for popping in!

  3. Happy birthday Meredith!!
Your holiday photos are fab!!Glad you and Mr Bingley had a great time!

What lovely books you have on the agenda this month! Looking forward to reading your thoughts on them and meeting the visiting authors.

    Happy reading!

    1. Thank you, Mary! <3

We did enjoy it a lot, and now we are back at work and keeping very busy!

I'm glad you are excited about this month's line up!

      Happy reading to you!

  4. Lovely pressies there Meredith and it’s wonderful how happy you are with your husband. Isn’t it lovely to find a soul mate.

  5. I loved the photos etc but I think I enjoyed the most how you still are all mushy about your husband. Warms my heart.

  6. Someone has convinced me I need to write an Austen style story so I am starting my research this month. I will see what direction it takes me, too many choices. But that could mean many stories, right?!!!

  7. Snazzy birthday gifts. Love the classic collection you’re starting there. And it is neat that you have a coin for your collection. And look at that lovely bag that matches the blog. Great idea!

Glad you had a fantastic vacation with your Mr. Bingley. Finding a fun-loving, thoughtful person as a partner is a treasure. I think my fella is a Mr. Bingley, type, too. 😉

Very nice line up of review books and visitors. Have a happy September!

    1. Thank you, Sophia! My family and friends know me well! 🙂

That’s great to hear you have a Mr. Bingley too! 🙂 They are the best!

Hope you have a lot of wonderful reads this month!

  8. Oh just love your photos of you and Mr. Bingley on vacation! Your presents are great and I love the box set of those children classics! You have a great line-up of books to read and guests to visit! I read and loved ‘A Quest for Mr. Darcy’ and I hope to read many of the others you have listed! I am off tomorrow morning to fly out to California! I’m visiting my sister who lives outside Sacramento along with my other sister and our cousin from N. Ireland! We hope to do a lot of hiking and visiting various National Parks. Of course, we have to keep an eye out on the locations of various fires going on out there too! We will be along the coast for part of the trip. I should get some reading in on the plane there and back but do not expect to get much done while there. Happy Reading!

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! 🙂 Have so much fun on your trip! I love that you are all going together! Have fun hiking, I know you will probably see some lovely sights! And yes, reading time on the plane and at the airport is great! 🙂

  9. Aww.. Meredith, you are so sweet! Mr. Bingley is a very lucky man! It’s always beautiful to see how much you love each other through these monthly posts where you share something about your life together! Thank you! 😉

Now, speaking of gifts.. I LOVE your bag! It’s so Austenesque! 😉 I have never read Anne of Green Gables either, it’s on my list for this month, in fact! I read a book set in Prince Edward Island in August and thought I had to get to that classic soon. Look forward to reading your thoughts about.. basically, every single book you will read! They all sound great!

    Happy September! 😀

    1. You are all too kind for putting up with my rambling on about Mr. Bingley! <3

LOL! Yes, it is so Austenesque! 😉 Oh how nice! I can't wait to hear what you think of it! I just started Alice in Wonderland today which I am enjoying! 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful month of reading, Maria!

  10. Love your line up and gifts, Meredith! I had my eye on that set of books you had for your birthday. Can you tell me whether they are illustrated?

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourite series, I hope you love it too! I’ve never read The Little Princess either. I have a copy, but it’s not as pretty as your one 🙂 I hope you have better luck with Alice than me, it gave me a migraine when I read it, it’s such an odd book!

    1. Thank you, Ceri! It will be a busy but great month I think! Just the Alice in Wonderland book is illustrated with colored images. 😉

Thank so much for your lovely visit! Hope you have a great month too!

  11. What a fantastic gift haul Meredith! Mr. B. is so wonderful to have that bag made for you. I’m trying to think what the design reminds of but, nah, it’s not coming to me!

Your holiday looked amazing from what I saw as I followed your posts on FB. My own holiday ended as this month began and was considerably more modest than a trip to the Caribbean but it did involve spending several days exploring Jane Austen’s Hampshire. My friends here who are also on FB will have seen the plethora of photos that resulted! I was particularly pleased to have found all of the book benches in the Sitting with Jane public art trail, just in the nick of time before they were taken away at the end of August. They’re going to be auctioned for charity next weekend. Sadly, none of them will be ending up in our garden as I’m pretty sure they’ll be beyond the reach of my purse!

You’ve got some great reads coming up this month. A Quest for Mr. Darcy and A Less Agreeable Man are fine books indeed and I’m almost finished reading I Could Write a Book. It’s lovely to read a non-P&P based book for a change. Can’t believe I haven’t got around to Conceit and Concealment yet.

    Have a great September!

    1. Hi Anji! Thank you, yes! I am spoiled by such goodies! LOL! It does look vaguely familiar… 😉

Thanks for checking out our photos! Yours were equally amazing! What a great adventure! I loved what you did with the books and it looks like you had mostly good weather! Ugh, how I wish I could have seen some of them in person myself. And yes, would be nice to to bid on one and be the happy owner of such fine art, but I’m sure they will be out of my budget too. 😉

I’m so excited about I Could Write A Book for many reasons, but especially because it is an Emma story – I haven’t read an Emma story in awhile! A happy reading month to you, my friend!

  12. Part of our honeymoon was spent in Montego Bay so I can relate. You are reading a number of books I have not yet read so I hope you enjoy them. The gift bag is oh so lovely. Mr. Bingley does know how to treat a lady well. Enjoy the month. Hope your birthday celebrations was the best.

    1. Oh lucky you, Sheila! How nice! 🙂 I look forward to comparing our thoughts together, Sheila! I know you will catch up and far out strip me soon! 😉

That he does! I am very lucky! Thank you, my friend! Great to see you back!

  13. Lovely birthday gifts, and so wonderful you spent your special day with your Mr. Bingley! I feel sure you’re in for some happy reading this month too! Love the children’s classics and your choices for the month–so many fun books. I’m just hoping to catch up with the group read of Northanger Abbey on Goodreads this month. Happy September!

    1. Thank you, Reina! I knew this crowd would enjoy seeing my little gifties! 😉 I am excited about the children’s classics – it will be fun to read these beloved stories! A group read of Northanger Abbey sounds fun! I just reread NA earlier this year. Love rereading Jane Austen.
