As you may have noticed, I’ve yet to do a Pride and Prejudice specific Top Ten list. The reason for that is the fact that I’ve read a couple hundred different Pride and Prejudice inspired stories and the task of choosing just 10 was a bit daunting!
So I decided to break it up with some sub-categories – variations, sequels, and modern-adaptations. The category for Pride and Prejudice variations was by far my largest and it would be verrrrrrrry difficult to pick only 10 favorites, so I decided to break it down further by year.
This is the first of serval lists for my favorite Pride and Prejudice inspired novels! We are taking it way back today, to the early days of self-publishing and Pride and Prejudice printed variations with this list of my favorite Pride and Prejudice variations published in between the years 2007-2011.

Yes! These are all books I read when I first found JAFF almost four years ago. Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman is a particular favorite, though they are all excellent. Great list!
That one is for me too! A special group of books that I think helped a lot of people find JAFF! 😉
Well considering I’ve read all of these, I suppose we’re on the same page. LOL My all time favorite is Brenda’s Honorable Man, but I love them all. Now, I’ll have to go and check out how we compare on your other lists. Thanks, Jen

I haven’t read any of them but I see two Kara Louise books in your list and I’ve read her “Pemberly celebrations ” so I imagine these two ones must be a very good choice since I enjoyed it very much. Happy Easter 🙂

Good list but a bit top heavy with the excellent Abigail Reynolds which leaves several other deserving writers unmentioned.

I’ve read at least 8 of 10. I honestly can’t recall if I’ve read them all. I do shy away from the mature audience ones however I have read Abigail’s. My favorite here is pemberley’s promise. That must’ve taken lots of research on your part. It’s so challenging to recall them all after all these years plus now theres hundreds more.
I love Pemberley’s Promise, it is definitely one that special to me! 🙂 The research was very fun to do, although it made me want to stop and reread all these books right away! Good thing I right reviews to help me remember all my impressions and thoughts!
I only scored 50% of these as read. Of the other five, three are on my TBR list and the other two have just gone on my Wish List.

Fantastic list of wonderful titles. I’ve read them all, and the quality of the writing, love of JA’s characters, and the original plots still shine for me after a decade of reading JAFF.

Definitely a great list – the Memory series by Linda Wells would also make my list, plus the crossover novels by Joana Starnes. Have 83 in my P&P collection on my kindle. Picking ten is a very daunting task!!

I love all these books. A couple of my all-time fave JAFF novels aren’t on this list due to the time lines–I’d bet the big bucks they’re on the next one! We’re so lucky that such a high standard was set in the early days of JAFF. These authors inspired me and many others to try their hand at writing, so their legacy is far beyond this list. In addition, I see mentors here–writers who have given me excellent advice and cared about me as a person and a writer. (You know who you are!) Good books are released more frequently these days, yet in comparison, those listed here are still on top. Excellent selection!

I’ve read all, but two of these and gave them high ratings, too. And luckily the two I haven’t read are on the TBR pile to still read. 🙂

I didn’t know “Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman” was an actual novel >.< I thought it was a how-to book. Darn. I'll definitely be checking that next!
Oh it is! A lovely one! There is a book called Mr. Darcy’s Guide to Courtship which is a guide/how-to book. The two do have similar titles.

I have read them all except, “Rainy Days”, mostly when they first came out. I thought they were all great.
I prefer reading a novel vs a novella. The novels seem to have more depth and involvement that makes you think. My favorite amongst them all would have to be “Fitzwilliam Darcy, An Honorable Man.”
Great choice, MaryAnn! You should definitely try Rainy Days, I think you will love it! I’ve enjoyed some shorter works lately in anthologies, but I am with you, nothing beats a full-length novel!
Meredith you really must read Imperative. But you must set aside some time as the two volumes total 1600 pages and don’t expect to get anything else done! You will be gripped from the first paragraph. I have no idea how many times I have read it now but I know there will be many more. Enjoy

I have read a number of Linda Wells’ books. They are long but so fascinating. The beginning of Imperative alone has been a re-read for me on a number of occasions. I am also trying to get through her Keeping Calm on AHA. So I, too, recommend her for your reading pleasure.
