On behalf of Team Austenesque, I’d like to welcome you to AUSTENESQUE EXTRAVAGANZA, a month-long CELEBRATION of AUSTENESQUE novels and authors!

Today’s Austenesque Event is…

Channel your inner EMMA WOODHO– USE and attempt to make a match of “perfect happiness” between one of our dear friends and an Austenesque novel!  Read the scenario CAREFULLY, and make sure you observe the given SPECIFICATIONS.  (Answers that CORRECTLY follow the specifications will count DOUBLE towards the giveaway!!!)

THE SCENARIO:  Jakki’s neighbor, Denise, is quickly becoming a voracious Austenesque reader.  Having  just rediscovered Jane Austen’s novels recently and plowing through any sequel she can get her hands on, Denise comes across PAMELA ADIAN’S fabulous Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman series, and she LOVES it!  She wants more!  She asks Jakki if there are another novels that focus primarily on THE HERO. Jakki just laughs, she knows of MANY Austenesque RETELLINGS that tell the story from the HERO’S PERSPECTIVE, the only question is: Which one should she recommend to Denise?

Can you help Jakki?  It sounds like she is looking to pair Denise up with a brilliant AUSTENESQUE novel from the HERO’S POINT-OF-VIEW!    What would you recommend?  What isYOUR favorite AUSTENESQUE  novel from the HERO’S POINT-OF-VIEW(yes, you can ONLY pick ONE!)   🙂

  1. Oh, definitely Mr. Darcy’s Diary–she sounds interested in Pride and Prejudice. Though any of Amanda Grange’s Diary series would be good (excepting of course Wickham’s Diary).

    Both bundles, please

  2. Oh wow, tough choice … Okay, I’m going to go with Barbara Cornthwaite’s version of EMMA which is told from Knightley’s perspective: CHARITY ENVIETH NOT and LEND ME LEAVE. Officially, it’s told in two volumes — but I count it was one book, because it only covers the time frame of EMMA ;o)

    Barton Park bundle please! :o)

  3. I like Captain Wentworth’s Diary by Amanda Grange. All her Austen’s Hero diaries are fantastic so Denise should get the whole set.

    Both bundles, please.

  4. I would have to say Susan Kaye’s 2 volume set Frederick Wentworth, Captain are really good. I like all the others that have been recommended too.

    Either bundle would be fine.

  10. Some of my favorite Austenesque books are from the male POV. I would suggest Darcy’s Passion first, but I also loved Mr. Darcy’s Diary.

  11. Of course I’d suggest any of the Hero’s diaries by Amanda Grange! Also love Susan Kaye’s Frederick Wentworth, Captain (2 volume series) which is published by the same author as Pamela Aidan’s series.

    Would love the Barton Bundle!

  12. Dearest Denise ~
I have enjoyed an amazing retelling from my hero, Captain Wentworth’s, point of view. I am especially delighted to recommend to you, Captain Wentworth’s Diary, by Ms Amanda Grange.
I anticipate your delight in it’s reading.

    Wishing you well,
    Another Austenesque Admirer

  13. I would recommend Diary Series by Amanda Grange (Mr.Darcy’s Diary, Captain Wentworth’s Diary, Colonel Brandon’s Diary, Mr Knightley’s Diary, Edmund Bertram’s Diary, Henry Tilney’s Diary). There is even Wickham’s Diary, though I have not read this one yet:))

    both bundles, please

  14. Mr. Darcy’s Diary by Amanda Grange. It was one of the first Austen sequels I found out about and bought. I’ve also read some of her other “diaries” and Wickham’s Diary is also great. Either bundle would be fine, but I already have Vampire Darcy’s revenge, so I guess I should pick the Barton Park Bundle.

  15. Oh this is an easy one! Amanda Grange is the master of Hero POV. My favorite is Mr. Knightley’s Diary as I don’t think he gets much air time. =D

    Barton Park bundle!

  16. Oh my goodness! I just got done reading Mr. Tilney’s Diary by Amanda Grange, and, like every other “Diary” book by her, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially as not many books go back to Northanger Abbey. And I love me some Henry Tilney.
    I’m interested in both bundles!

  17. I loved Captain Wentworth’s Persuasion by Regina Jeffers and the diaries by Amanda Grange, especially Captain Wentworth’s, Henry Tilney’s, and Mr. Knightleys.

Please throw my name in the hat for the Barton Park Bundle. Thanks!
