Fun and Games Friday – #1

On behalf of Team Austenesque, I’d like to welcome you to AUSTENESQUE EXTRAVAGANZA, a month-long CELEBRATION of AUSTENESQUE novels and authors!

Today’s Austenesque Event is…

And today’s game is…

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE WITH MODERN-DAY SUBTITLES!!!

What is going through Darcy’s head as he dances with Elizabeth?  What is Elizabeth thinking when she begrudgingly accepts Darcy’s request to dance.

IF this dance took place during MODERN TIMES, what would be going through their heads?

We plan to create a VIDEO of this scene, but we need YOUR help with the subtitles!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

1.  WATCH the scene BELOW of Darcy’s dance with Elizabeth at the Netherfield Ball.

2.  Think of a FUNNY, WITTY, CLEVER, SILLY, or TRUE subtitle.  (make sure you take note of what TIME your subtitle should appear on the screen.)

3.  FILL OUT the form BELOW (shhh! We want to keep all the subtitles SECRET!)

4.  Come back OCTOBER 5th and see our finished product!

EXAMPLES OF ENTRIES:

0:17 – Bowing = eye-level cleavage

1:36 – No more second helpings of white soup in this dress for me!

3:42 – lol  : P

**Please TRY to keep it PG-13!

**We may not be able to use everyone’s submission, but we will certainly try!

Fill out the form AND leave a comment in the comment section below to be entered in a chance to win…

  1. This ought to be interesting when its all put together. I’m afraid I’m not that creative, but I tried.

I would be interested in the Abbey Mill Bundle if I won. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  2. This is so much fun! I keep watching the video trying to come up with more subtitles. Of course, now I’m sick to death of hearing Mr. Beveridge Maggot…

I’d like the Norland Park bundle.

  5. I also put my hat on Darcy’s first proposal. It should provide an interesting argument with lots of prospect for humour and fun. I tried my best in thinking of something suitable and modern in the dance sequence and would like to win The Norland Park Bundle

  6. Apparently there is a modern subtitled version of Darcy’s first proposal on youtube. It’s funny to watch.

This is so much fun 🙂

I’d like to win either bundle.

    Thank you!

  7. Ah, the Rosings scene would be another fun one, while everyone is being forced to listen to Lady C’s monologue. 😀

  8. I would be interested in either bundle. Another scene needing subtitles — how about in Sense and Sensibility when Marianne falls down the hill and Willoughby rescues her?
