Austenesque Novel Finds – August 2025

Hi readers,

I hope you will forgive this post coming 8 days late!

I was traveling the last half of August and while I tried to find time on trains and at night, but this post just takes sooooo many hours to make, and the time or situation wasn’t always available.  😩

And then upon return it was hard to find the time with work, blog issues slowing me down, and lots of friends to catch up with over the weekend… 😛

But here it is – finally a list of Austenesque Novel Finds for August 2025 for your perusing pleasure! 📚

There are 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ new Austenesque releases for the month of August!

Looks like we are seeing an audiobook explosion!

🌻 I’ve read 0️⃣ books from this list.

🌻 I am excited to have An Offer of Marriage: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Amy D’Orazio and Such Persuasions as These by Emilia Stratford on my TBR list.

🌻 And I’m thinking one of the first books to go on this wishlist might be Forgiving Frank Churchill: Book 2 of “Finding Jane Fairfax” and a Retelling of Jane Austen’s “Emma” by Robbin J. Peterson.

Which books are you eager to read from this list?

*WARNING – this list might be changing next month…and I hope everyone is okay with the changes. But I’m just struggling a lot with the time to make this list. And also the fact that it might be unintentionally spotlighting books that are AI generated, and minimizing the spotlight I want to shine on quality Austenesque works. I didn’t want to make any changes…but I think it might be necessary at this time. 😕

  1. Hi Meredith,
Thanks for your monthly list! I see a new book from Summer Hanford and Renata Mc Cann which sounds promising 😉
As for what you say at the end of the post, I understand you a lot because, maybe it isn´t worth making a list when AI books are increasing more and more… it takes a lot of work and you don´t deserve wasting your time in AI books. So, I don´t mind if you only put books from most known authors, the ones we all know are real persons because they write with a real frequency, not a high-speed frequency of 4 or 5 books every month! This is impossible for a human being (unless you were Shakespeare) and everyone of us can notice which books are suspicious of being written by AI.
I support whatever changes you want to do in order to ease your blogging and not promoting AI books 🙂
    A big hug,
    Teresa

  2. Oh my gosh! So many!!
I’ve a few and they were great.

I’ll probably pass on most of these though. AI is a legitimate choice, but there’s no art in the craft imho. Part of reading is the immersion into the world. Hard to do that when the writing and story telling is so poor.

    1. Your monthly posts are special to us all.
Even taking the time to cut out the chaff will be time and effort.
Perhaps there can be a call out to authors (legit ones) to send *you* their pending publication? It could also potentially give an indication of who is human or droid?

  3. I look forward to this list every month, and I confess I had wondered if you had stopped doing it because there are so many questionable releases. I agree with you that you should probably make some changes. I’m able to recognize some of these AI stories based on sampling the authors (and because the author has released so many books in the course of a month), but you shouldn’t have to spend your time sifting through all these new releases.

One idea is to only include novels of 150+ pages, unless it’s an author you recognize from social media. Most of the AI generated stories I’ve read are shorter books, typically around 100 pages or less.

And at the top of the post, perhaps instead of saying that you’re trying to be inclusive, just say it’s a list of books, but there’s no claim that it’s complete.

I’m interested in what others will suggest. Whatever you decide, I will continue to enjoy your blog!

  4. AI detectors can help you find what is written or created by AI. Though authors who are AI will also have no pictures in anyway so unless they sound human then you know who is AI.
