  1. I’ve read four of these (including an ARC of Ghost Flight by Don Jacobson, just released today…don’t miss it!) and have several more already downloaded. I’m in the middle of Her Grace, Revisited. I’ll have a few things to comment on this one when I’m finished. It always amazes me how many of these are released each month and how you find them all, Meredith. Thanks for all your sleuthing. I also appreciate your heads up about AI. I can easily see why this warning was made.

  2. I’ve read a few.

Is anyone else disturbed by the influx of AI books swamping over the real deals offered by our precious authors who work hard to create their phenomenal books?

  3. Thanks Meredith for this monthly list, I always look forward to it with so many releases and different twists!
I love there is a new installment of Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney’s detective stories
And Don Jacobson’s story set in 2WW seems really thrilling!
There is a pretty bunch of choices for we readers!

  4. I’ve only read The Slipper Scandal by Melanie Rachel off this list. Wonderful book! I too am bothered by AI and if I’m not sure I won’t buy the book. I’m tending to stick to known authors or those recommended on a blog nowadays. Thanks as always Meredith.

  5. Thank you for the list, Meredith. I do my JAFF shopping and downloading from here. I’ve been in my den writing so the only one I’ve read is Melanie Rachel’s latest (which is excellent).

It is a challenge to determine which of the above are AI generated. It’s discouraging. However, I will admit that some of the AI grammar/thesaurus/research tools make my writing easier (although some wonky punctuations show up quite regularly). Oh well. We live in an ever changing world.

    1. I’m all for a little assistance, but when a writer puts in a few sentences and ends up with a 60 page novelette, and can then publish six or a dozen in one month, there is no true art in the craft. To my sensibilities it is stealing from the readers.

    2. I wish there was an easy way to discover which are AI generated. I’d certainly be suspicious of anyone who put up more than two or three books in a month, but some books come from anthologies and thus aren’t “new” so can’t be considered suspect. I don’t think your use of simple tools counts. I just read a book that’s nearly perfect except for some strange non-canon or non-Regency happenings in a brand new author who puts out a lot of novellas all of a sudden, isn’t evident on social media, has a clear AI cover. These are weird errors, not your average JAFF writer’s misunderstandings. Like a person wouldn’t make these mistakes.

  6. I read one and am now reading another from this list. Thank you for all your work posting this for us.

  7. Reading – Mary’s Choice by Ivy Rios. Would like to read – Faith At Longbourn: by Dong O’neal . But I am not sure i want to take the chance to spend by limited resources on it as it seems he has published 14 books in June. Should I be suspicious?

    1. I think you are right to be suspicious, Vesper. Maybe keep an eye on it orc heck back on the book in a month and see if there are any reviews? It is an unfamiliar author and I think only 2 of the 14 listings had any ratings (and it was one each)…which is a little atypical for the voracious readers of this genre.

  8. Wow Meredith how you keep up with all these realeses very impressive. I have read a few but missed a lot. Thank you.
