When the Angel He Wants to Marry Is Already Married…
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

TYPE OF NOVEL: Regency Romance
THE PREMISE: If you haven’t been introduced to them yet, the Richmonds are long-lost siblings that were orphaned and have only recently discovered each other. Three sisters and and one brother. The three sisters have all found matches, and now that there are no new family secrets or scandals to uncover everyone is expecting (and pressuring) the heir – Viscount Oakley – to march to the altar and secure a bride of his own. But that proves more challenging than expected…
WHAT I LOVED:
- The Only Boy: Now that all the siblings have all been united, I enjoyed seeing more of their natural sibling dynamics come into play. For the first time, Viscount Oakley is outnumbered by the women in his life! And it is a truth universally acknowledged that sisters have a proclivity for meddling and giving unsolicited advice in the affairs of their brothers! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Richmond siblings fully embrace their new sibling dynamics. There is a lot of love and a lot of well-intentioned support behind all their actions.
- Matchmaking Sisters: I love that the Richmonds decide to lend Viscount Oakley their assistance with his love life! They try their best to find someone with whom he can fall in love with, even though they know his heart is wanting someone else completely. Their matchmaking attempts were so diverting to witness. Especially as each candidate revealed themselves to be missing the mark…
- Swindlers & Knaves: With a lot of suspicious activities and rumors circling about it becomes apparent that there is more than one evildoer involved in thieving activities. This was an interesting subplot to explore, and I enjoyed how it included characters that were new and ones that were familiar. However, there might be some moments of needing to suspend one’s disbelief with the resolution, but overall the twists and tension these characters provided were exciting to follow.
- A Family Affair: Seeing this family together warms my heart. They have been separated, lost, lonely, and each has dealt with their own personal struggles of choice, acceptance, and identity. But to see them united – facing life together, facing challenges together, facing society together was moving to behold. I especially enjoyed seeing the relationship between Viscount Oakley and his brothers by marriage – how they all had affinity for each other and would gladly jump in and assist with whatever is needed.
WHAT COULD’VE BEEN BETTER:
- A Stronger Heroine: Oh this may come across so mean…and I’m sorry to say it, but I did not love Bess as a heroine. She was very Jane Bennet – beautiful, good, and kind. Which maybe is fitting because, Viscount Oakley – with his string of past love interests – is maybe a great deal like Mr. Bingley. But back to Bess, I am afraid she suffers by comparison to the Richmond sisters and their admirable qualities. She doesn’t have much going on to win our approval or empathy. I also found her predicament to be a little farfetched.
- A Stronger Why: Even though we learn a little more about past events between Bess and Viscount Oakley, I didn’t really feel like I understood why they fell in love with each other. It seemed like we were told some slight reasons for Oakley’s affections to be engaged, (Bess’s kindness and how he can talk about anything with her), but were not really shown them and didn’t really feel them.
NOTE: While this is a standalone novel – more so than any other book in this series – it feels necessary to read the other books in this series to be familiar enough with each characters’ pasts and the events that took place.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
😇 Viscount Oakley can’t choose a bride because his heart belongs to his angel…who has already married another!
🫶🏼 From scandals and secrets to harmonious connections and happy marriages, the Richmonds are an absolutely delightful family to spend time with. I hope we see them again!
📚 Splendidly swoon-worthy heroes, heroines facing dilemmas or despair, and enchanting stories that end with happily ever afters – all seamlessly composed by a talented writing duo!
