Paige is here to share the beautiful cover of her debut release – Against Every Expectation with us today! We hope you enjoy! 🤗

~ From the Author ~

Hi, Meredith! I am thrilled to tell you and your readers about my first novel, Against Every Expectation. It is truly an honor. Long before I started dreaming up this story, I relied on your blog for my TBR list and still do today!

I have always laughed out loud upon re-reading Pride and Prejudice when Elizabeth takes care to tell Mr. Darcy that the path she is walking near Rosings was a favorite haunt of hers in order to deter his ever joining her again. “How it could occur a second time, therefore, was very odd!—Yet it did, and even a third.”

This was the scene that spurred my creativity to write this story. I was thinking about what obstacles in Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy’s path could be removed in order to bring about a better understanding on those rambles together—or better yet, what new challenges could be brought about that would force Elizabeth to derive comfort or interest in Mr Darcy on those paths. Though I wish Jane Austen had given us more particulars about those walks in Kent, I now appreciate that she left so much room for my imagination to dream up this story.

I hope readers will enjoy the alternative path I sent Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy on in Against Every Expectation. And thank you again for hosting its cover reveal!

~ Book Description ~

Amid the groves of Rosings Park, with Elizabeth by his side, Darcy had begun to hope for something different for his future than he had previously allowed himself to believe was possible—a partnership, a love match…

ELIZABETH BENNET ARRIVES AT HUNSFORD expecting a pleasant sojourn with her once-dearest friend Charlotte. Surprises await her however, both of bad and good. The nature of the Collins’s marriage is not what she would have thought and she rapidly grows concerned for her friend’s happiness. Alongside her concerns however soon comes a source of felicity for herself; Mr Darcy who she had believed so severe in Hertfordshire proves to be, on further acquaintance, a man she could fall in love with.

FITZWILLIAM DARCY IS ASTONISHED to find Elizabeth Bennet in Kent during his annual visit to Rosings Park. Soon his temptation to have her, to allow himself to fall in love with her, becomes too strong to be denied.

JUST WHEN IT SEEMS FELICITY is near, however, insidious jealousy arises and the betrayal of one close to the two couple threatens their nascent happiness. Elizabeth is pulled away too soon, and Darcy is left to wonder if she ever had feelings for him at all. Can the truth be untangled in time for their course of love to reach its completion?

And without further ado….here are the big reveal!!!

(expected release date: March 7th)

It is so beautiful! I love this type of pose and I love the picturesque garden scene in the background! ⛲️

I adore the details of Elizabeth’s stunning ensemble – I love the muslin print, the bonnet, the curls! 👒

I wonder what is going on with the Collins’s…  😯

Who becomes jealous and betrays our dear couple?!? 🤭

What do you think, friends? 🤔

  2. Lovely cover. This does sound like one I will read. Good luck with the release. Happy Valentine’s Day to all. And thanks for a chance to win a copy.

  3. The cover is awesome, and the dress and bonnet are perfection with the background. I am always pleased by any story published by Q&Q so am looking forward to reading a new author. Congrats and best wishes for a successful launch.

  4. What a lovely cover! Always interested in reading new writers and see what they have come up with. Congratulations on your first publication Paige.

  5. Happy Valentines Day to all and what a better way to celebrate love is with a D&E new book. Love the cover and always look forward to reading a new P&P

  6. Congratulations, Paige! Just such a lovely cover! The premise certainly has me intrigued, and I just read the excerpt too. Definitely need to find out who betrays Elizabeth and Darcy! Thank you for a chance at the giveaway!

    1. I’m glad to hear the description and excerpt have piqued your interest. Thank you for the warm welcome, Carole.

  7. Lovely cover, great details, the dress, dark curls etc.
Reading about Charlotte’s new life with her new husband and Lady C gave me the chills. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Charlotte who betrayed D&E out of spite. Had Elizabeth accepted mr Collins, she wouldn’t be in Lady Catherine’s power. 😉
Looking forward to reading this book.
    Congratulations on your first publication.

  8. I think I usually prefer covers that don’t show the faces as then you can use your imagination, so I do like this one!
I’ve just read an excerpt from this book on Quills & Quartos and it’s definitely different! I can already feel sorry for Charlotte, but I do wonder who interferes between Darcy and Elizabeth?
    Good luck with this book.

    1. Thank you, Glynis! I also like it when cover art still allows room for my own imagination. I hope you enjoy the story.

  9. The colors of the cover are stunning to me.The hat reminds me of one from the PBS P&P. I am so curious with what is going on with Charlotte. I hope there is no abuse. Will Elizabeth and Darcy ever have a smooth path. I always chuckle that Elizabeth and Darcy misunderstand each other of the telling of the paths Elizabeth takes each morning! Congratulations on your first book!

  10. Congratulations on the release! I am sure Lizzy and Darcy will find their HEA. I hope that Charlotte will find some happiness as well. I look forward to finding out.

  11. Wonderful cover (my preferences are in full agreement with the previous comment about covers without faces:)) and interesting plot! I will definitely add the book to my TBR list.

  12. Ooh sounds interesting! I read the excerpt on Q&Q. Poor Charlotte… I hope this one doesn’t veer too angsty. It seems like it could! Lovely cover, though. Best of luck with the release!

  13. How dare someone betray our two couples! I can’t wait to read it and find out who the culprit is and how they have imperiled the lovers’ happiness. I’m intrigued and the lovely cover is so enticing!

  14. Congratulations, Paige, on having your courage raised enough to share this story which sounds just my type. Of course, it depends on how cruel you are on those “jealous interferences” – could be Anne? The colonel? Charlotte, embittered by her sort? Collins because he feels himself scorned?

But I like the building of a relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth starting on friendship and partnership!

The amazing accord between the dress colours and the landscape is a delight.
And the choice of not seeing the face of the model (a modern one in historical setting) is a perfect one!!

Congratulations and looking forward for the release day!!

  15. Such a gorgeous cover and, I too, agree that it’s best not to show the faces. What an intriguing take! I am worried for Charlotte and can’t wait to see what happens as ODC walk together.

  16. After reading the excerpt on the Quills and Quartos blog, I am enthralled. Your style of writing seems very reminiscent of Austen’s. Congrats on your first book!!

  17. Congratulations on your first published book! Your premise is a little bit different and has me intrigued. It’s always great to have a new author, especially at Q&Q.

  18. Congratulations on your first release! It is a lovely cover.
I was privileged to read an advance copy and I loved it. Had my heart in my throat for the first half and alternated between yay/boos for the second!!

  19. I always thought that wasn’t the greatest example of Elizabeth’s intelligence…kind of like when the booksmart kid lacks street smarts lol. Congrats on the book release!

  20. Beautiful cover!!! The questions that we are left with really make us all want to read it quickly! Congratulations on your new book!

  21. The cover is beautiful! I think it is a lively shade of green in Elizabeth’s dress and the garden scene is also beautiful. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of the book!

  22. Beautiful cover. Meredith gets the best cover reveals. That scenery makes me want to have a little patio furniture on the veranda where I can enjoy a cup of tea as I read or watch the day go by. It is so beautiful. I love the color choices in the dress, hat, and shawl. It matches the green of the scenery. It is so peaceful looking. Blessings on the success of this work. I look forward to reading it. Thanks for the generous giveaway and good luck to all in the drawing.

    1. Thank you! Tonight I drink a cup of hot tea to warm up, but I would definitely enjoy it more on a veranda with beautiful weather!

  23. Eye-catching cover! Always interested to see the bonnets – not to forget the ribbons. Cannot wait to read AGAINST EVERY EXPECTATION book so March 7 please get a move on!

  24. What a gorgeous cover — such attention to the finest of details!! And the story within this lovely cover sounds ever so intriguing!! Congratulations on the publication of your first book, Paige!! I wish you all the best!!

    Warmly,
    Susanne 🙂

  25. All the very best with this book. I’ve read an excerpt of this which made me feel for Charlotte, but from the blurb I’ll have more people to feel sorry for as this story progresses!

  26. What a gorgeous cover! That green accenting the white dress makes me think of the promise of spring and new life…thinking of new love. Thank you for sharing that lovely cover.

  27. I am usually excited about a debut author and her first work, but this one has success written all over it. Congratulations, Paige Badgett. The story sounds great and the cover is gorgeous. Best of luck on the launch of your first book baby!! I sincerely hope it will not be the last.

  28. I agree, such a charming cover…wonder if Mrs Collins will play a big part in this story? Thank you for this chance to win a copy

  29. I adore the stunning cover, Paige. Q&Q always comes up with beautiful designs that integrates the plot. I imagine the woman on the cover is Elizabeth Bennet and she is looking out at the glorious garden in Rosings Park. Good luck on your debut novel!
