Austenesque Agenda – January 2022

Happy January, friends!! I’m finally getting life in order (barely!) and getting back into a normal routine/schedule.  🙌🏼

I hope you all enjoyed some wonderful and joyous holiday seasons (and that you and your family are all in good health! 😷

December was busy – for us all, I’m sure!

Here are some of my highlights for the month:

A special father-daughter trip to celebrate my dad’s birthday in NYC. 🗽

We saw To Kill a Mocking Bird on Broadway! 🎭

I attempted some Christmas crafting – made some natural garland and Jane Austen ornaments. 🎄

And then there were Christmas festivities with this guy – boy, did he love Christmas the parties, the people, the bonus treats and new toys (so spoiled!) 🐶

just look at the intensity of this pose…you can tell there is a treat in my hand… 😄

How was your December? I’d love to hear about your highlights!

  1. We had a wonderful Christmas and end of year celebrations. Right now si’m looking forward to joining my husband in the UK and keep reading! Simple words but a world of changes this entails.

I’ve enjoyed the reviews so far and I’m definitively looking forward to new books to come.

Have a great week and weeend!

  2. I do love your photos Meredith! I’m glad you had such a great time. As you know my Christmas wasn’t as I would have liked but fingers crossed next year will be a vast improvement. I did get to see my son and his family so that was a bonus.
I think I’ve only read one of the featured books so far (apart from P&P) but I do have several still waiting to be read. I look forward to your reviews and interviews as usual. Thank you.

  3. So glad to read you had that special time with your dad. Mine is gone so I don’t have that opportunity any longer. Great photos. I have read 4 of the books on your agenda. Our family got together on Christmas which is our tradition. However, since our one granddaughter felt sick, she and her mother stayed home. She is OK now but with this pandemic it is rare that we see then so they were especially missed. I have read 5 books so far this your and am reading one of Maria Grace’s Dragon series now.

  4. Epiphany comes out on my birthday so that will my birthday treat I am so excited! My Christmas was very quiet and fairly relaxing after the rush before it! Hope everyone has a delightful New Year and all of our favorite authors be filled with creativity to bring out even more books

  5. I love your handmade Christmas decorations!! A great idea that I will have to do myself next year, oh no this year I mean. My december was uneventful, spend some quality time with my parents and cat that was really nice. But no visitors or a party… So I made a dent in my tbr pile 🙂 Which was very entertaining !! As spending time with Darcy & Lizzie never gets dull 😀

    1. Oh thank you! They sure took a bit more work then I was expecting, but I’m happy I stuck with it!

Spending quality time with your parents and cat sounds so lovely! As does spending time with Darcy and Lizzie

  6. Hi Meredith!
What a splendid plan to see ” To kill a mockingbird ” with your dad in Broadway! WOW
I wish I had the chance to see this beautiful story in theatres! But, I can’t complaint at all because these Christmas I had the lovely chance to see “A chorus line” (the famous musical from Broadway) with my mother in Madrid thanks to Antonio Banderas who has had the great idea of bringing this musical to Spain 🙂
Fezzik seems so cute with such a fun pose!
Your January agenda is brilliant! I see two Riana Everly novels and I’m very curious about “Epiphany” by Jessie Lewis (and love the cover).
    Have a sweet January 😉

    1. It was splendid, my friend! A trip full of special memories! It is such a beautiful story! And how exciting that you enjoyed a Broadway show!! And that you shared the pleasure with your mother! That sounds so wonderful!

      Lol! He is too much.

Hope you enjoy a wonderful January, friend!

  7. What a lovely time with your dad and at the crafting event you had. Your Christmas pup looks like he loved his Christmas. We had a lovely holiday season, too.

Love seeing your January reading and blog plans!

  8. What a special time and event with your dad! I just love Fezzik and your decorations are lovely and a great idea! We had a lovely week visit with our son ad daughter-in-law for Christmas so didn’t get much chance to read. But that is ok as I finally started my Jokabolaflod book today and loving it and then I have Monica’s 2nd book to read. I received some great books for Christmas and my TBR is through the roof. I did love and read ‘Death of a Clergyman’ and looking forward to several others on your agenda!

    1. Thank you, sweet friend! I’m so happy to hear that you got to enjoy some time with your family! I cannot wait to hear what you think of Back in the Bonnet when you finish1

And how exciting that you received some wonderful books for Christmas too!

  9. We were lucky to have our Boydlings home for the holidays before they start on new adventures. Plus we got a puppy before Thanksgiving—she has given us so much joy!

    1. That’s so fantastic, Christina! I enjoyed seeing your posts and I’m so glad you had such time together! And I love that you got a puppy!! Zelda is so sweet!

  10. There’s so many goodies in the post I don’t know where to start. 🙂 I’m completely impressed by your crafts! How cool that you could celebrate your
Dad’s birthday by seeing a show in NYC. That’s making great memories there. Fezzik is so adorably cute, you managed to get a perfect Christmas pet shot.

We celebrate Christmas Eve at my youngest sister’s house and it always manages to be a blast, and it just seems to get better each year. Yes, even through COVID. Gearing up for that takes some frenetic effort that is also fun. Christmas Day was quiet making phone calls and texts to family and friends, our son and daughter-in-law keeping us up-to-date on their cooking progression. They were expecting company for dinner and together the 4 of them trade dinner with lots of experimentation going on, eating at each other’s houses. We get to live vicariously through their adventures. No big effort on Christmas Day, but the day after, also lovely and quiet, I made a ‘holiday dinner’ and got my sister to come and she was really glad she did.

I spent December reading at a frantic pace, hoping to get to read all the major books that were showing up already in November, on top books lists for the year. Everyone has the same 31 days of December, and everybody is busy. But there were times I wanted to step on the brakes and make time stop.

I’m so so so excited about January’s agenda, Meredith. The reviews! The visits! Oh my gosh. You are really starting the year off with a bang! Here’s to a great new month, and new year.

    1. Lol! Your sweet comments make me smile, dear friend! Thank you!

That’s so wonderful that your Christmas celebrations were so fun and joyous!

Your son’s and daughter-in-law’s cooking and dining adventuress sound so cool! I bet it was so fun to do something new like that1

Good for you for getting a lot of reading done in December! It felt like such a busy month! I wouldn’t hvae minded finding some more reading time in between the holidays.

Wishing you a very happy start to 2022!
