Austenesque Agenda – May 2021

Happy May, readers!

How was your April? Mine ended up being packed with lots of fun!

First there was a family trip to the Outer Banks, NC – a first time visit for us. 🌅
We did Kitty Hawk – which was incredible. 🛩

And saw lighthouses (saw 3, climbed 1). 😊
And then I got pup-sit  3️⃣  puppers at once! It was a blast! 🐾 🐾 🐾
Fezzik loved having playmates all day and I loved all the cuddles. 🥰

And lastly, I went on a gorgeous weekend trip to Raleigh to see some gardens in bloom. 🌷

Like Elizabeth Bennet, I ambled my way through every walking path – some more than once. 🌸

And you can be sure I brought books along and found myself plenty of wonderful reading spots! 📖
I also paid a visit to an old favorite… 🌳

and brought a friend… 🐕‍🦺

And did some research – for those that are interested – here is the history about the Chainsaw Log Art at William B. Umstead State Park.
I hope your April was filled with fun and beauty! 🌸

  1. Gorgeous photos. We still are quarantined most of the time with picking up groceries via an online ordering/shopping service in which my husband just picks up at the store where someone puts the groceries in his car. I continue to walk on my treadmill or outside and put in usually 5 miles per day total. Church and Bible Study is via ZOOM. I have read several of the books you have on your agenda. Stay safe. Only the top half of my letters show up here so I can’t see errors???

  2. Your meanderings are always so fascinating, Meredith. Fezzik is so cute! Another exciting month of new reads for you, and new reviews to share. I read Silver Buckles as my Jolobokaflod choice and can’t say enough good things about it. I chose it because of its great cover and the good buzz around the book. The rest are new to me, so I look forward to your opinion on them.

  3. Oh Meredith, what gorgeous photos as usual! And looking after three dogs? Wow! I must say Fezzik looks rather like the Australian Cobber dog that my daughter’s family got just before Christmas!
What an amazing month yet again! I’m so looking forward to your thoughts on these books and your interviews.

  4. Wonderful lineup. Looking forward to your review and sharing some of the same books. Enjoy!

  5. Hi Meredith!
What a lovely places you visited! I love lighthouses (although I’ve never been to any) because they evokes some kind of adventures surrounded by overwhelming waves 😉
Thanks for sharing with us the story of the Chainsaw log art! It seems that Fezzik was really interested in it LOL.
Your May agenda has blossomed with so many books and authors! I’m thrilled with such a perspective: Maria Grace and her dragons, Cat Andrews…
And you have a new Allie Cresswell novel!
It’s going to be a delightful month for reading outdoors.
    Happy May, my friend 🙂

  6. Ah, the Outer Banks…can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to the places in your photos. Always a spectacular trip! Did you make it to Ocracoke? There’s another lighthouse there and wild horses. Better yet, it’s where Blackbeard was thrown overboard! They say his headless ghost still swims in circles out there…muahahaha…

Can’t wait for a lot of the upcoming books! And I look forward to your review of Dare to Refuse Such a Man. Thank you again for hosting the cover reveal 🙂

  7. Gorgeous photos as always, Meredith! Those puppies! Those gardens! Those lighthouses! I think lighthouse keepers must have had really good quad muscles; I can never climb up (and especially down) lots of stairs without my legs getting sore! (And yes, that was more than you needed to know for the day. ;-D) Happy reading to you, and happy May!

  8. I de-stress and relax just from meandering through gardens and arbors. Love that you got to visit Kitty Hawk, too. Looks like a fun line-up of books and guests. I have a couple of the same books on my reading stack.

  9. Beautiful pics and Fezzik is adorable! How ever did you get them all to look at the camera together?!

I did read (and loved!) Silver Buckles, and I’m interested to read your review. A few others of these lovely books are impatiently waiting on my TBR list, and now I see more that will certainly be added. I’m like a kid trying to choose what treat to devour first. I’d welcome any tips on time management…
The May line up looks fabulous!

  10. I love the pictures, thank you for sharing them! It looks like you have a great month planned. Looking forward to reading your posts.

  11. Meredith, you take the best pictures. It is like I was walking right along with you. Those puppies are adorable. I can see that you are in love with them. Looks like there are a lot of good books to see in the near future. I look forward to reading about them and their authors. Blessings, my dear, stay safe, and healthy.

  12. Such an interesting vacay with the pups. I am dogsitting my granddog, but I’d like to keep her.

I had COVID over a year ago, and I just now am feeling a clearing of the COVID FOG. It’s a real thing, folks. I’m beginning to think and write again. Nice to have my brain back.
