Hi dear readers! Here is a bit of unexpected and exciting news – Victoria Kincaid is about to release a new book – woot woot! Her newest release is titled Rebellion at Longbourn and she is stopping by Austenesque Reviews today to share its lovely cover with us! 🙌🏼 Having loved and enjoyed so many of Victoria’s previous releases, I am super excited to learn more about Rebellion at Longbourn!
~ Book Description ~
A Pride and Prejudice Variation
Elizabeth Bennet’s father died two years ago, and her odious cousin Mr. Collins has taken possession of the Longbourn estate. Although Collins and his wife Charlotte have allowed the Bennet sisters and their mother to continue living at Longbourn, the situation is difficult. Viewing Elizabeth and her sisters as little more than unpaid servants, Collins also mistreats the tenants, spends the estate’s money with abandon, and rejects any suggestions about improving or modernizing Longbourn. After one particularly egregious incident, Elizabeth decides she must organize a covert resistance among her sisters and the tenants, secretly using more modern agricultural methods to help the estate thrive. Her scheme is just getting underway when Mr. Darcy appears in Meryton.
Upon returning from a long international voyage, Darcy is forced to admit he cannot forget his love for Elizabeth. When he learns of the Bennet family’s plight, he hurries to Hertfordshire, hoping he can provide assistance. Sinking into poverty, Elizabeth is further out of Darcy’s reach than ever; still, he cannot help falling even more deeply in love. But what will he do when he discovers her covert rebellion against Longbourn’s rightful owner?
Falling in love with Mr. Darcy was not part of Elizabeth’s plan, but it cannot be denied. Darcy struggles to separate his love for her from his abhorrence for deception. Will their feelings for each other help or hinder the Rebellion at Longbourn?
And without further ado….here is the big reveal!!!
(expected release date: June 1st)
Ooh! Isn’t this cover just lovely? I love the vividness of all the blues – the sky, her dress, his waistcoat, the title background. 💙
Living under Mr. Collins’s protection and roof sounds like a nightmare! And I’m not at all surprised to hear he is mismanaging Longbourn. 🙄
I love this Lizzy’s eyes – they are definitely fine, but you can also see her intelligence and confidence in them too. 👁
I love that Elizabeth is working together with her sisters and other tenants. It will be interesting to see if Mr. Darcy lends his support to her schemes. 🎩
What do you think, friends? 🤔

Thank you so much, Victoria, for putting this lovely post together! Congratulations and best wishes for your newest release!!
As blue is my fvaourite colour,I love the cover
I look forward to this book. The cover shows an Elizabeth with eyes that are truly fine and sure to attract Darcy. There has to be a way to best Mr. Collins who is not too bright about business things.
I agree about Elizabeth’s eyes!!
Hi Vesper. I love the cover too! The designer did a great job.
The plot sounds great. I’m looking forward to reading it. (And after days of gray skies and rain here, those blue skies on the cover are just wonderful to look at.)
Hi Jan, Isn’t that the bluest sky with the fluffiest clouds you’ve ever seen? The designer did a great job!
So true! We’ve had some gray days here as well!
This is beautiful! Can’t wait to read this one and enjoy another of Victoria’s books!
Hi Anngela, I hope you enjoy it!
I love this premise!! WOW, Elizabeth heading the rebellion against Collins!. She’s like Princess Leia but I I don’t know if Mr Darcy will play Han Solo’s role LOL…I guess he could be kind of…
The cover in blue is really beautiful!
I’ll put it in my wishlist 😉
Hi Teresa, I hadn’t thought of any Star Wars parallels when I was writing (absolutely no space fights). But Elizabeth does have some of Leia’s pluck.
That’s an awesome parallel to draw! 😉 I think Elizabeth will be sure to shine as a leader in this rebellion.
I look forward to reading this and am especially interested in how Lydia, Kitty and Mary help with the rebellion. Can Lydia keep her part or even that of the whole a secret? What is Mrs. Bennet’s role?
Hi Sheila, I won’t give it all away, but I will tell you that Mary has been reading agricultural journals. So she’s able to advise on improvements to the farm.
Great questions, Sheila! I’m sure Lydia is on board with rebelling!
Can’t wait to read this. Sounds amazing and I love the cover.
Hi Debra-Ann, Thank you for your enthusiasm!
This one looks like a fun read! I’m a big Victoria Kincaid fan in any case, and Rebellion at Longbourn looks especially inviting – love the cover and THAT LOOK in Lizzy’s eyes!
Hi Jean, Thank you for being a devoted fan! I really appreciate it.
It does! I don’t think it is a premise I’ve read before and I love fresh new twists!
What a gorgeous cover! Congrats, Victoria, this sounds so exciting!
Thank you, Joana! The designer did a great job with the cover.
Oh, I love a good cover and this one speaks volumes. Her look says, ‘Yeah, I got this.” His says, “What are you up to, Minx.’ LOL! I would hope Elizabeth had Charlotte on her side as this can only help the estate. I will have to read it and see. Great cover reveal, Victoria. I look forward to seeing what you have for us in this story. Blessings on the launch and success of this new work.
Meredith, thanks for hosting. Again, you get the first look on all these fabulous covers [hello to your Mr. Bingley]. Y’all stay safe as states relax and begin reopening.
Hi JW, I love your narration of the cover! It made me LOL. I hope you enjoy the story.
Perfect captions, Jeanne!
Good point about Charlotte…I wonder how she handles caught in the middle!
Oooo, a new Victoria Kincaid book! Oooo, what an enticing plot, hmmmm. Oooo, that COVER! Blue, blue, blue. Sign me up. 😀
Ditto what J.W. said regarding staying safe, Meredith…you and Mr Bingley and my fellow commenting Austenesque followers.
Hi Michelle, I love blue as well. Nearly my whole house is blue (except my study, which is purple). I hope you enjoy the book!
I was so thinking purple is a color you admire!
Thank you, Michelle. I hope you are staying safe and well!
Oh that sounds like a fun read!!
I’m glad it sounds intriguing to you!
Oh dear… living with Mr Collins 🙁 My poor nerves couldn’t cope with that. Sounds like a great book!!
Hi Silvia, It is definitely hard on everyone’s nerves!
Heavens! What a nightmare! Having to obey Mr Collins and dealing with his petty buffoonery!
Good for Elizabeth on deciding to rebel, especially as its to help improve their situation. Surely Darcy will approve of her attempts to help the residents and the tenants of Longbourn, even if it’s without Mr Collins’ knowledge?
Whatever, I’m hoping his love for her prevails? I also hope she soon returns his love
I think this cover is striking! I love all the shades of blue! I look forward to learning more of this book.
Stay safe and take care!
Hi Glynis, Yes, living with Collins would be a nightmare. But at least Elizabeth turns it around.
I love the cover. This story has me eager to read it.
Hi Deborah, I hope you enjoy it!
Stunning! Such a great cover.
I’m glad you like it. The designer did a great job!
The expression on the female model’s face is terrific. Overall win with the cover and the blurb!
Thank you, Sophia! I worked quite a bit with the designer to get just the right expression on Elizabeth’s face.
Agreed!!! It works really well with the premise!
pretty cover
denise
That dress does not look like she is in poverty sorry to be a nay sayer but the dress looks worthy of Mrs Darcy. But it will not stop me buying the book I look forward to it coming out.
Thank you, Denise!
It’s a beautiful cover. And it looks like Lizzy is doing some mischief. Looking forward to the read.
Hi Jennifer, Yes, she is causing some problems! 🙂 I hope you enjoy it.
Happiest of congratulations for the reveal! It truly is a gorgeous blue: I associate blue with Jane Austen in general whether it be the turquoise ring she owned or the famous “beautiful” later edition “Wedding Ring Portrait” of her. This book sounds as if it will be great fun.
Hi Jen, I hadn’t thought of it, but blue is a rather Austen-y color!
Very true, Jen!
This news just made my day! A new book from you, and such an original idea! I enjoy the trope of Elizabeth caring for Longbourn’s people, and I’m intrigued by the situation of doing so under Mr. Collins’s rule. I also like “bad Mr. Collins” stories. I look forward to it!
I agree, Agnes! There are so many interesting aspects with this premise so far!
The cover rocks! (Along with Darcy’s mysterious stare.)
Elizabeth seems strong and confident and the blurb is intriguing.
Can’t wait to see her as the rebellious young woman who will bring change to Longbourn. 🙂
Good luck!
Beautiful cover. Very unique compared to others. I think it’s perfectly done. The story sounds fascinating. I haven’t come across one like it before. It’ll be a pleasure to read such a new and different twist on things.
I agree, Suzan! I know I have read stories where Mr. Collins inherits, but most of the time the sisters are off to London with the Gardiners or seeking jobs.
Love the cover, the blue really pops! I also like that you can see the (1995 Longbourn) in the background. Can’t wait to read your latest novel!
Pre-ordered already. Looking forward to its release.
