Austenesque Agenda – October 2019

Hi friends! I hope your start to October is going well! 🍂

Mine has been wonderful, since my Mr. Bingley is home! 🥰

And today we are preparing to head out on a relaxing little camping trip together! 🏕

Our last trip together (before Mr. Bingley’s super-long work trip) was at the beginning of September when we went to New York for my friend’s wedding! 👰🏻

It was a beautiful wedding and we had so much fun!!!

And while Mr. Bingley was gone, we had gorgeous 80 degree weather all the time, so I went reading…reading outside. ANY. CHANCE. I. COULD! ☀️

I discovered this beautiful new reading spot overlooking the Cape Fear River. 🌉

Another new spot I found (been there before, but not with a book!) is this rock wall that was built in the 1860s near Fort Fisher. 🌅

And yes, I did see the movie and thought it was fantastic!

Nearby is the Fort Fisher Historic Site and I love reading around these gorgeous trees and waiting for the sun to set. 🌳

A pretty creek near our house has a short hiking trail and has become a favorite reading spot, especially since some of the other spots require a bit of a drive. 🌾

And even though we found all these new spots, we still think the beach is our favorite! 🌊

Which reading spot would you like to visit?

  1. I am so proud that your Mr. Bingley has returned safe and sound from his trip and I look forward to seeing and hearing about your camping adventure. You post the most gorgeous views of the places you read. Lucky you! As for your plans for this month, I love anything Amy D’Orazio writes and am looking forward to seeing what you think of her latest. Also, have read and enjoyed TORN by Lory Lilian, a long time go-to author of mine. I am intrigued by JANE AUSTEN’S GHOST and have put that on my TBR list. As for my plans, I need to stay put and write as I am doing two books at once – a sequel to PROOF OF LOVE and another story that won’t let me alone.

    1. ME too! And our trip was lovely – very restful! We have a second camping trip this upcoming weekend which is a bit more involved!

I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful area! I feel like we are spoiled with all the choices of all the different pretty spots in town!

Great choices on your reads! And best of luck with your writing! That is wonderful to hear that there are 2 books to look forward to!

  2. I envy you your reads this month. I’ve read three, though I admit two were prior to publication. All were exceptional, so you have some top star reviews to enjoy writing while enjoying Mr. Bingley’s company.

  3. You and Mr. Bingley certainly get about! I think it’s great how often you go exploring and adventuring.

This month’s agenda looks wonderful! Lots of interesting books. Can’t wait!

    1. Thank you! I am always ready to go on an adventure! And Mr. Bingley (who works so hard!) likes to get away to unplug a little!

So happy to hear you like our plans for this month!

  4. It’s so nice how excited you were about Mr Bingley coming home. That’s real love. I’ll be interested in what you think of Sanditon with the essay. I loved it. Enjoy.

    1. I’m always excited! We love our time together and miss each other terribly when we are apart. It doesn’t help that we both sleep horribly when not together! :/

That is my next read! I am so looking forward to it!

  5. Hi Meredith, first of all: What a beautiful spots you found to enjoy your readings!!. The sunsets in the pics are awesome 🙂
It’s not the same to read indoors that outdoors. When you read surrounded by a beautiful landscape it seems you “live” The story (specially an austenesque novel where landscapes are so wonderful). I enjoy the beach spots and the mountains ones although most of the time I read in the public transport on my way to work 😉
I can see you also delighted yourself with Downton Abbey! LOL it seems we had the same plans in mind!.
Your October agenda is full of books and authors WOW!. Now I’m reading “Chaos comes to Loungbourn ” by Victoria Kincaid and I can’t wait to see what happens with such a crazy misunderstandings! .
And my plans for October, I’m not sure how many books I could read but what I know is that my birthday was last September and I was gifted with Allie Cresswell’s books, “A proper introduction to dragons” by Maria Grace, “The courtship of Edward Gardiner” by Nicole Clarkston and “London Holiday”.As you see, your recommendations are really useful for my gifts !
Have a sweet and colorful October!

    1. Hi Teresa! So lovely to read your comment! I do love seeing sunsets – they are much easier for me to catch than sunrises (too early to leave bed!)

That is great that you make use of your commute time and read! I’m sure it makes the commute a little more enjoyable or maybe something you would look forward to (or is that just me being weird?!)

Yes! I was in Downton Abbey mode in September. I read the book (review is on Goodreads), rewatched a few seasons, and saw the movie.

      Isn’t that such a hilarious mix-up!!

Oh my goodness! That is an excellent selection of birthday gifts! I am so happy for you! You must tell me what you think of them!!!! Happy reading!

  6. Love your pictures, Meredith. I’m so happy your Mr. Bingley has returned safe and sound [hello to Mr. Bingley]. You guys looked as lovely and handsome as the bride and groom. Enjoy your new reading month and your camping trip. Blessings.

    1. Thank you, Jeanne! I don’t dress up like that very often so it was a lot of fun (and I’m happy to say I stayed in my heels the whole time!) Hope you are enjoying a great month!!

  7. Meredith I love these posts where you give us visuals of what’s been happening. Your line up or to reads looks awesome. Looking forward to another fun month. Thanks so much! ♫

    1. Aww! Thank you, Jennifer! I was at loss for a little about what to share since besides work I was only on one trip, but I’m glad my reading spots were fun to look at!

Hope you have a terrific month, my friend!

  8. I’m glad your Mr Bingley is back and I look forward to seeing where your latest trip takes you.Personally I like the look of the comfy chair overlooking the bridge for my reading!
I’m really looking forward to your reviews and your wonderful guests this month, so many goodies!
I’m currently re reading The Darcy Monologues and am hoping to read a Case of Some Delicacy and Joy King’s new book when it’s released. And who knows what else? There are so many great books coming out and I have so many that I love to read again and again. This is a dilemma that I absolutely love

    1. Thank you, sweet Glynis! That chair is perfect to bring to many of these reading spots! I’m glad I can have such a portable seat with me. In the summer months it stays in my car all the time!

Wonderful choices for your reads this month! I love The Darcy Monologues!!!

LOL! I’m glad to hear it!

  9. Yay for Mr. Bingley returned safe and sound and ready for a fall camping excursion. Lovely historic park picks and I can see it makes a good reading spot. Nice line up of reads and visitors for the month.

    Have a great October!

    1. Yes!! We have camped so little during the summer (too hot!) so we are excited to got out some these next couple of months!

It is! Such a favorite of mine! And the scenery there is amazing!

Hope you enjoy a wonderful month, Sophia!

  10. I’m so glad you’ve had a lovely start to October! I hope you and Mr. Bingley enjoy your camping trip. The weather here in Ohio has *finally* cooled down. It was 90 degrees last week! Ugh. So glad it feels like fall at last. I love every single one of your reading spots, but I think the little creek is my favorite. It feels private and secret, which is perfect for reading!

Can you believe I have not read any fiction recently? I’ve been devouring non-fiction books, but I’m missing romance. My October goal is to find a new favorite!

  11. What a great line up Meredith! I have most of those on my TBR too. I nearly bought the Janet Todd one earlier today. I still might, but perhaps will wait to see what you think of it 🙂

  12. You two. You look as smashing in camping/hiking/beachy clothes as you do in…woo hoo!…fancy dress clothes. 🙂 Always love your photos. Those lovely reading hideaways, aahhh. But I’m so glad Mr. Bingley is back home.

I’m so looking forward to this month’s agenda. I’ve read Amy D’Orazio’s book and loved it, and have more on my TBR. I’ve been reading some amazing new books that have come out. All of a sudden it has seemed like the best-birthday-ever haul of gifts with how many books from our favorite authors released recently or about to be release. That’s a lot of book loot!

Anyway, the upcoming reviews and the guest list just looks totally yummy, better than Halloween candy any day.
