Austenesque Agenda – April 2018

AA

Hi friends!  I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely start to their month!  For us March was very busy with two travel trips!  Our first trip was to Austin, Texas for a long weekend in the beginning of them month (just for the fun of it!) and our second trip (which we are still on our way home from at the moment!) was to England and Ireland for Spring Break.

I’ll share more about the England/Ireland trip in a later post. 🙂

Some scrumptious breakfast tacos!!!

In Austin, Texas (how dare they spell it wrong!?!) we had a grand time eating tacos for practically every meal (even breakfast!) and learning about the city through segway and bike tours.

We took 3 tours in all and they were super fun and informative.  Even when we got caught in the rain!

I’m afraid other than planning and preparing for these two trips we really didn’t have that much else going on in March!  (But trust me, the planning and preparing took up a lot of time!!)

  1. I really enjoyed seeing your pictures from your trip to Austin and especially England and Ireland. I love seeing these places through your eyes. Looking forward to seeing what you think of the books for April as I have read only two of them. I am so far behind. 🙂

    1. Hi Brenda! Thanks so much for your lovely sharing and kind words about my pictures! It has been fun to share them! I’m feeling so far behind too! Hoping things will settle down a little this month, but I doubt it! 😉

  2. What a delightful trip you had to Austin! Love the pictures! Love your line–up of books to read and review and your visitors! I have ‘Brave Jane’ on my wishlist so looking forward to your review! Actually, I have most of your read and review books on my wishlist! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip to England and Ireland. That must have been a whirlwind tour!

    1. Thank you, Carole! 🙂 It was so fun, we definitely want to go back again. 😉 I’m glad you are intrigued by the books on my agenda this month! I’m excited to get into them, over the last two weeks I only got it a very little bit of reading time. 🙂

  3. I agree! The pictures are awesome and I hope to one day go, not just virtually. Have a nice trip home and hopefully not too much jet lag.

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! It was a terrific trip! Feeling okay about jet lag…but then again I did wake up 3 hours early today so we will see. :/

  4. You guys look like you’re having a wonderful time. Yes, I agree… how dare they misspell Austen… I mean… really??? Those tacos really looked delicious. Yum… y’all have the best pictures. You have a busy reading month ahead of you. I have my ‘Someone Else Pick it for Me” reading choice. I had a grouping listed and that will be the 3 Memory books by Linda Wells. So… I need to get started on that. I keep being tempted by new and shiny. But, I have time. We are experiencing high winds today with severe storms expected tonight. April has not been nice to this tornado alley region in the past. So we are not looking forward to it. Blessings to you Meredith and say hello to Mr. Bingley for us. It looks like he is taking good care of you and we appreciate him for that. Rest my friends… that jet lag is a bear…

    1. Thank you, Jeanne! You are so very kind! The tacos were amazing! I could definitely go for some more! That is a big read, but I know you can do it! You are definitely one of the most voracious readers I know! 😉 I hope you enjoy the series! Oh not, so sorry about the weather – stay safe! Mr. Bingley smiles and sends his regards. He is the best!

  5. I am not on FB so cannot praise the photos other than those here. Fantastic that you were able to do both trips. I have read Ditching Mr. Darcy and won Cake & Courtship during the blog tour but have not yet received it. But I do look forward to reading it. I also read Lover’s Knot and enjoyed that. I want to read Green Card, also. Looking forward to reading your reviews.

When we lived in Texas we enjoyed a lot of Mexican food…but never had tacos for breakfast. Is that avocado on those? We couldn’t find Philadelphia Steak Sandwiches or Pizza there. They had chicken steak sandwiches. We always said someone could make a fortune opening a restaurant near the University with those foods. I am sure that they now have those as that was back in the ancient days of 1969 to 1971.

    1. Someone got your vibe Sheila. They’ve got sandwich places galore, food trucks are also huge with every cuisine you could ask for. Pizza? It’s everywhere. And oh my gosh yes, breakfast tacos!!! 🙂

    2. Don’t worry, Sheila! I’ll be sure to share many photos here soon! (More than I did on FB!) 😉 That’s great that you have read or will read many of the same books I’m reading this month. I look forward to comparing thoughts with you!

Yes, the tacos were amazing! And breakfast tacos were such big thing there. The one I had was avocado, egg, cheese, pico de gallo, and cilantro – loved it!!

Michelle is right, the food truck scene is very diverse there and the place is just pouring with interesting and delicious food!

  6. Lovely pics Meredith and a lovely line up of books. I’ll be especially interested in your reviews of Cake and Courtship and Jane and Me.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on your trip to Ireland and what you thought of our green and lovely (though all the time raining) land.

    1. Hi Teresa! Thank you! 🙂 I’ve Jane and Me on my trip (only book I managed to read!) and will review it Friday. 🙂 I think Cake and Courtship won’t be long after that. 😉

We were lucky to not have too much rain in Ireland, and on one very important day we had gorgeous sun and blue skies!

    1. Thank you, Ceri! Yes it will be busy for me at work too…not sure how it will all work out! 😉 We had a great time on our trip. I hope you are enjoy your holiday break now! 🙂

  7. oooo great agenda, Meredith. Really looking forward to those book reviews. And the guest visits. And the photos from your UK trip!

That was a perfectly legal place to spray paint graffiti y’all, in case anyone wondered. 🙂 Oh, I hope one of those taco meals was at Torchy’s. Sigh…. Loved your photos, looks like you had a blast. It’s a lot to pack into a weekend!

    1. Thank you, Michelle! I’m so thrilled you think so!! 😉

LOL! Yes, it was so fun to visit Grafiti Park, but I hear that it may not be around for much longer. And lol! We ate at Torchy’s twice, and would have happily eaten there more except I wanted to try some other taco places. 🙂

Definitely so much to do in Austin, Mr. Bingley loved it and is super eager to go back! Definitely a cool city with an awesome vibe!

  8. A busy March, indeed. I’d be right there with you trying those tacos. Neat way to tour Austin on the bikes.
I want to read Jane Austen and me eventually. Looking forward to your guest visits and review posts. Oh, and your England and Ireland post.

    1. The tacos were great everywhere! I don’t think I had one bad one! 😉 Yes, it says our feet from getting too tired and those ‘biker gang’ bikes were super fun!

Thanks so much for checking out my agenda, I hope you enjoy a lovely month!!

  9. SOO wonderful to see you and spend two magical days with you!!! Hope you come back soon!

Love your photos, that breakfast taco looks so yummy, and your Austin trip sounds amazing (yep, they really should do something about the spelling 😀 ).

Have lots of fun with your April agenda and all those gorgeous books!

    1. It was incredible, Joana! I still can’t believe all I saw and did and how we had so much time together! What a dream!! 🙂 I hope you are doing well and enjoyed your travels, what a beautiful estate you got to visit – and the is one amazing gallery!!

Thanks so much for your lovely visit!

  10. That’s a busy time indeed! Your photographs are always so compelling. I’m sure you’ll be glad now for some time to sit back and read… and read and read and read! 😀

    1. Yes, I’m not sure I’d like to do two trips in the same month again, but we wanted to take advantage of the week off of school for my job and we had an airline voucher about to expire. 😉 Cannot wait for you to take your trip!!!

  11. Sorry Guys, Austin is named after Stephen F. Austin, considered ‘The Father of Texas,’ so you gotta take it up with a dead guy. 🙁

But guess what Austin was called before it was named after Austin……Waterloo. Hmmm
