  1. Thanks Meredith for another one of your fab lists. I have not read any of these books as I have so many books on the TBR pile. However, I do like Pride & Preju Knits as I knit and crochet so may have a look at that one and also Then Comes Winter by Christina Boyd!

    1. The Pride and Preju-Knits book looks adorable, doesn’t it! 🙂 I don’t know how to knit, I basically stay with crocheting and I do have the Austen book for that Austentatious Crochet…have not tried many things from it, but I want to!

  2. I’ve read four of these so far. It’s a challenge for me this time of the year because I don’t celebrate the holidays so I don’t enjoy reading Christmas stories – at all. With that in mind, I did read “Then Comes Winter” and found it to be more “winter-y” than Christmas oriented. It combined two of my loves – introductions to new writers and the gamut of Jane Austen’s stories. The blend of Regency and modern was just right. What a delightful way to spend a few hours! Jennifer’s latest, “Colonel Fitzwilliam’s Challenge” is a hoot. It went straight to the top of my favorites of hers. I loved the element of mystery. The colonel remains my favorite secondary character so high on my TBR is Stan Hurd’s latest.

BTW, I purchased a magazine called “Jane Austen Knits” at a book store. I don’t knit, nor do I ever plan to take up needles for that purpose. Nevertheless, I found the magazine to be a treasure trove of little snippets and factoids where they paired photos of exquisite garments with Jane Austen’s characters with a description of why they did so. The articles, which were unrelated to knitting, were informative and gorgeously presented. It was expensive for a magazine ($14.99 for one issue), but I may have to subscribe.

    1. I’m glad to hear that there is a lot of winter-y tales to enjoy in Then comes Winter! I love encountering new authors too. 🙂

It’s great to see the Colonel get some love! Congrats to Jennifer on her release!

I remember seeing that magazine and wanting it myself, Joy! For the same reasons! 🙂 I don’t think I’ll ever knit either, but it looked so pretty and such a great delight for Jane Austen fans!

  3. I can highly recommend Then Comes Winter. I bought it and thoroughly enjoyed it (so much so that I bought the Summer one as well). I have at least four more of these on my wish list so I might treat myself for Christmas. Now I just have to decide which one(s).Thanks for the list. I will have to check the others out.

  4. Good lord, what a busy month! How to decide what to read? Then Comes Winter for sure, and Stan Hurd’s book is already on my TBR, but after that—? Thank you again for performing this service for the Austenesque-reading community!

  5. I am, as always, honoured by your notice, Madam. 🙂

For Abigail and Joy, I am very gratified to be on your radar. When you meet Estéban, remember to think of Meredith!

    Best,

    Stan

  6. Thanks for the wonderful list. I have gone through and added some to my wishlist…excited to see the Colonel’s story from Jennifer Joy. Mr. Hurd’s I have read already and loved Esteban! Then Comes Winter is already on my wishlist along with Jane Odiwe’s new book and several others. Yes, so many books to read, so little time!

  7. I like the sound of Jane Austen Lives Again and The Captain’s Wallflower. Would be interested to read those. Like others here since I’ve discovered this site my TBR list is getting bigger and bigger and bigger——-!!

  8. Oh my, so many delicious treats this month. I have Stan’s book and look forward to diving into that one. I see two others that I want to read soon- Jane Odiwe’s and I’m intrigued by that George and Georgiana. And I guess I should maybe read Then Comes Winter. Haha!
Jennifer Joy’s is on the wish list b/c- Col. Fitz! 🙂
But the Mary Bennet book has appeal as does Maria’s Sweet Tea shorts. Sigh…so many.

    1. Delicious is definitely a good word to describe them! 😉 I look forward to seeing which ones you read! Looking forward to seeing your story in Then Comes Winter!

  9. I have read Stanley Hurd’s newest and also Then Comes Winter. Amazon didn’t notify me that Jennifer Joy’s new book was published so I have to get that one for sure. I enjoyed her other two. I have to read down some of my pile of books. I keep buying b/c they sound good but just can’t keep up as there are too many.

    1. So glad to hear you enjoyed Then Comes Winter and Stan’s new book. I know what you mean! My pile feels overwhelming right now. I hope after our move I’ll be able to catch up!

    2. I have to confess, Sheila, I’m a little envious of how much reading you get through. Maybe one day, if I win the lottery or something, I will try to keep pace with you. ;_)

      Have a great holiday season!

      Stan

      1. Stanley, have a wonderful holiday season yourself. And thanks for the wishes.

Just finished Villa Fortuna (5 stars)…posted review.

  10. having a month off from reading JAFF – so many other books to read – but looking forward especially to reading Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Countess of Sainte Toulours by Stanley Michael Hurd in January

  11. Hi Meredith, thanks for keeping us in touch with the new books!
My impressions are the following (because I haven´t read any of the list 🙁 )
-I find the Christmas books adorable (Darcy´s Christmas wish… it´s such a tender puppy!) and fun (“Blame the mistletoe” LOL). They put you in mood for Christmas!
    -Bravo for Stan´s Colonel Fitzwilliam!
-“George and Georgiana”… uff, I don´t know if this book may be a little shadowy… I don´t want to imagine such a scoundrel near sweet and innocent Georgiana again!
-“The gallant vicar”… we´re not talking about Mr Collins, are we? LOL
It´s a pleasure to find this list every month!

  12. I had such a busy December that I’m just catching up with this now. How can we keep up when there are more published than there are days in the month?! I’ve read a couple of these books (Then Comes Winter and Colonel Fitzwilliam and the Countess of Sainte Toulours). I’d really like to read the Jane Odiwe one at some point too. Happy reading!
