Austenesque Agenda for April 2014

Austenesque Agenda

Hello my wonderful readers!  I hope you are enjoying some lovely Spring weather wherever you are!  This is post is coming to you straight from my screened in porch and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be blogging outside, hearing the birds chirping, the rustling leaves of the trees, breathing the fresh air!!!  Quite heavenly!

I plan to indulge in blogging and reading outside as much as I can in the next couple of weeks, because it won’t be long before it is too humid and hot here in the southeast to enjoy being outside during the day!

And with the temperature rising nicely, I think my hammock will be getting its first use in 2014 this weekend!  Can’t wait!  What about you?  What outdoor activities are you most looking forward to this Spring?

  1. Afternoon Meredith, not so fortunate here in Newcastle upon Tyne, England with the weather. Freezing cold and we have had fog all day, all week!!!! I still have the gas central heating and my fire on!!!! However, have ordered some new books from Amazon which have just arrived – A Walk In the Meadow at Rosings Park and My Dear Mr. Darcy – enjoy the sunshine!

  2. Finally warming here in southeastern NY. In the afternoons a light jacket is sufficient and most of the snow has melted. I just about Jack Caldwell’s new book and will hopefully read it in the not too distant future. It’s on my TBR list.

    1. Yes! Time for the snow to go away! I look forward to comparing thoughts with you about Jack’s new book! Please share with us what you think! 🙂

  3. Still covered in snow in Newfoundland with another snow storm predicted for tomorrow. Oh well.
I have 2 of the books you have listed, look forward to your reviews of the rest.

  4. Looks like a fun month! I’ve already read Jan Hahn’s new book and loved it. I am excited to read Mr. Darcy Came to Dinner, Pride and Persistence, and Another Place in Time. I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts on all these great books! Enjoy the beautiful weather!!:)

    1. So glad to hear you enjoyed Jan’s new book! I’m looking forward to reading it since I loved the first two! What great reads you have planned this month, Kelli!

  5. Hooray! Another month has come and Meredith will help me to decide what’s available and what I should read next.
I’ve read Mr. Darcy Came to Dinner and got a kick out of it, so maybe I’ll give The Companion of His Future Life a try. I’ve liked Jan Hahn’s other books, so maybe I’ll read The Secret Betrothal, too. Actually, I’ve liked Mary Simonsen and Jeanna Ellsworth, too. And The Scenes Jane Austen Never Wrote sounds like right up my alley.
Meredith! *whining voice* You’ve listed too many good books; you haven’t narrowed it down for me at all!
Since it’s still in the 40s and rainy in upstate NY, I guess I’ll be doing all my reading not in the hammock, but inside with some tea and a blanket.

    1. So sorry, Heather! I’ll try to do better in the future. 😉 Yes, a lot of familiar authors this month, I’m excited!

I do not miss early Spring in NY, it would take forever to get warm! Tea is always a good idea!

  6. Ah, lucky you to get outside. How nice! Looks like a good reading plan. You can read the Scenes one a bit at a time or at least, I had no problem doing that.

    1. Thank you, Sophia Rose! It is just perfect outside! I think our azaleas will be blooming this week! It will be fuchsia all over the yard! Thanks for sharing about the P&P Scenes!

  7. Great reads! I haven’t read any apart from The Secret Betrothal! I really wish the weather over here would improve as I too am looking forward to more garden time (apart from running and screaming from wasps, their not here yet thank goodness) I am looking forward to Easter break and my yearly trip to Manchester in two weeks time. Enjoy your April reading, I look forward to the reviews and interviews!

    1. I look forward to comparing notes with you about The Secret Betrothal, Tamara! LOL! Yes, I’m with you about the wasps! I have one keeping me company in the screened-in porch at the moment. (Kinda makes me on edge a little!) I hope you enjoy a wonderful trip to Manchester and holiday!!!

  8. How lucky you are! Enjoying the sweet spring!. In Madrid we have an awful time with rain, cold and wind. I have a cold and I couldn’t read your blog but now I’ m getting better and your agenda sounds.promising with “Artemisia” and “The scenes Jane Austen never wrote” 😉
I’m looking forward to reading outdoors, for example in a park. It seems a different experience, the reading has a sweet taste, don’t you think?

    1. Hi Teresa! I hope you are feeling better! I know exactly what you mean! Reading outside is so peaceful! I love it! I’m looking forward to Artemisia – it is in the style of a JA novel, but doesn’t include any JA characters. 🙂 Hope some warm and sunny weather comes your way soon!

  9. Wow I love those toes on the hammock and book in hand. Lol still too cold here also. I’m rereading bluebells in mourning. I needed one I already enjoyed since I’m home sick.

  10. Well, we are smack in the middle of the crazy spring Oklahoma weather. At least we’re staying above freezing now. I get cranky when it goes from 81 degrees one day to 45 the next, but at least it’s not freezing. LOL

I am anxiously waiting for “Companion” to be available on Nook. Mr. Caldwell as assured me it will eventually, so I’m patiently waiting. =D I’ve got “Another Place” on my TBR list so I look forward to your reviews!!

    Happy Spring Meredith!!

  11. Oh, Meredith I envy you! Here in Italy is still cold 🙁 It’s not freezing but I can’t relax outside and read a good book! I hope hot weather arrives soon because I love taking long walks and even though I don’t live in the country as Elizabeth Bennet, I always enjoy walking 🙂 I still have to meet my own Mr. Darcy, though! I’m very curious to know your thoughts about “Artemisia”, it sounds interesting. This month I plan on reading several Regency novels (my favourite era), among those “Falling for Chloe” by Diane Farr. I’ve heard good things about it and I hope it’s good! Happy readings!!

  12. Hi Meredith! Enjoy your great screened porch and hammock. Just looking at it is relaxing! We’ve had some lovely weather her is Puyallup, Washington, but a lot of rain too. Spring has definitely sprung!!
Last week, I was driving my granddaughter home from Artistic Roller Skating and came upon a heavy rainstorm. It didn’t last long for us as we were on the freeway traveling away from it. We looked back and saw the most perfect rainbow!! Dark clouds were behind it, so the colors were very bright and a perfect arc!! Wow!!
I recently finished The Scenes Jane Austen Never Wrote, and I loved it. It was a fun book that I could put down and not strain my poor eyes. Although I always read more and longer than I should!
    Have a wonderful month!
