So Jane1

from Goodreads:

For the Jane Austen enthusiast, or quite simply all the “Janeites” out there, So Jane will help them bring all things Austen into their homes, be it decorating, gift giving, or entertaining.

With 30 craft ideas and 30 recipes organized into six chapters bearing the titles of Jane Austen’s novels, enthusiasts can enjoy breakfast in Bath, via Northanger Abbey by creating Decorative Egg Cozies to keep their Soft-Boiled Eggs warm, or serve Honey-Lemon Teaspoons with Rose Petal Tea at the Middleton’s of Sense and Sensibility. Enjoy a picnic that Emma would love to have shared with Mr. Knightly, or create an I Heart Mr. Darcy Pillow that all Elizabeth Bennet wannabes would love to cuddle up with

MY THOUGHTS:

  • I want! I want! I WANT! 😀
  • Jane Austen meets Martha Stewart!!!
  • Crafts + Recipes – love that there is a little bit of both!  Full Jane Austen immersion!
  • Love the themed chapters, like “Breakfast in Bath” Northanger Abbey.  Which according to the table of contents includes: Spiced Hot Cocoa, Clotted Cream, Soft Boiled Eggs, Scones, Raspberry Jam, Apple Pastries, Janeite Decoupage Letters, Jane Silhouette Placemats, Decorative Egg Cozies, Doily Clay Ornaments, Patchwork Fabric Bowl
  • I like that the crafts and recipes don’t seem too complex or involved. I enjoy crafting and cooking at a very amateur level.  😉
  • The publisher of this book also publishes these adorable BabyLit Board Books

Pride and Prejuidce Little Miss Austen   Sense and Sensibility Little Miss Austen

    1. LOL! I hope I am right about them not being overly complex…they don’t sound too difficult. I’m not a fan of recipes that require 20 ingredients that required you to go to 3 different grocery stores to track them all down. Or crafts that require a lot of equipment or advanced skills – I can glue, cut, and crochet…that’s about it! 🙂

  1. I’m not much of a DIYer but I still think I would like this book to try out a recipe or two. I’ll have to check it out further. As for the Austen babylit, I bought my two month old granddaughter the P&P box set (includes cardboard cutouts) for Christmas and I’m tempted to buy one for myself! I love it! It’s never to young to start her on the road to loving Jane. She’ll have to wait awhile to play with the cutouts, but I couldn’t resist! Next on the list is the S&S book! Great finds indeed!

    1. The babylit books look so adorable! Whenever we have a baby I am determined to buy every single one! Yes, it is never too early to start! 🙂 How lovely it must be to share your love of Jane Austen with your granddaughter! 🙂

  2. This looks like fun! I’m not too handy with crafty things but I’m tempted to get it anyway! I think my mom would enjoy it too, so maybe for Mothers Day…

    1. Perfect idea! My mom is better at both crafting and cooking so I’m definitely planning on sharing the experience with her when I get a copy! (I’m pretty sure I’ll need her help!)

  3. Ditto to J. Marie Croft’s thoughts! I want! I want! I would *love* to create some of the projects from this book. (Guess what I’m asking for for my b-day?) =)
Thank you so much for sharing this, Meredith!

  4. I want this too. I love a good craft project provided it is simple. I look forward to the recipes as well. Thank you for letting us all know what a gem is on the way.

  5. I’m always crazy about everything Jane & crafting is SO much fun. Have already made a few Austen-things myself, but this sounds really great! I enjoy cooking too => perfect for me 😀
