Austenesque Jolabokaflod Wrap-Up!!!

Hi readers! Happy Christmas! I hope you all are enjoying a very happy and special holiday season! 🎄

I just wanted to share a little wrap-up post of our first celebration of Austenesque Jolabokaflod! 📚

*If you haven’t heard of Jolabokaflod, it is an Icelandic Christmas Eve tradition of exchanging books and reading! 🎁

This was my first time celebrating this holiday and I got to celebrate with 2️⃣5️⃣ Austenesque friends who live in 9️⃣ different countries! (Thank you BookDepository for making free worldwide shipping possible!) 📦

Here is what I received from my lovely Austenesque Jolabokaflod sender, Morghan!! Who so kindly sent 2 books on my wishlist instead of one! 🥰
Pride by Ibi Zoboi & Dear Nameless Stranger by Jeannie Peneaux

On Christmas Eve I chose to start Pride by Ibi Zoboi and am loving it so far!
And I enjoyed some chocolate!

And one of the best parts (other than receiving and reading a lovely new book from a friend on Christmas Eve) is seeing and hearing about what everyone else received!! 🙌🏼

Gah!!! I love it!!! Thank you so much, dear friends, for taking part in Austenesque Jolabokaflod! 🥰
Shall we celebrate this tradition again next year?

  1. Oh yes! Please make this an Austenesque tradition.
Happy Christmas, Meredith! I hope your holidays are merry and bright.

  2. I like that tradition. I had read about it recently. Sounds like a tradition I could adopt but I would not want to live in Iceland. Happy New Year. I read over 325 books this year and just can’t remember all of them well enough to vote on favorites so I abstained from voting.

  3. Great fun! I loved participating and definitely would enjoy seeing this as an Austenesque Reviews Tradition! Love seeing all the pictures! I voted and can’t wait to see the results!
Here’s to a Better and Brighter New Year for everyone!

    1. I think it went smoothly for our first time – thankfully! Just one book arriving a little late! It is so fun!! I’m excited for all these readers to enjoy their new reads!

  4. Thank you so much, Meredith, for all you did to bring us together this holiday season! And many thanks to Lori for sending me two books I’m very excited to read! If you decide to host Jolabokaflod next year, I’d love to participate again. Happy New Year to you and to all your readers!

    1. Aww! Thank YOU for taking part Christina! I am so thrilled for your lovely reads – they are amongst my favorites! I am so glad you enjoyed taking part this year!

  5. Hi Meredith!
Of course, make Jolabokaflod a tradition in Austenesque Reviews!!!. It has been so fun and sweet to participate! (and, yes, thanks to BookDepository!). Happy Jolabokaflod and Merry Christmas to everyone!

    1. Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed it!! I really am glad it was possible for international readers to take part and enjoy sharing Austenesque reads together!

  6. I had great fun participating in Jolabokaflod, thanks to my two Jolabokaflod pals, Lorelie and Christina D., as well as Meredith. The waiting for the book and then the time wondering which one it was became like waiting for Santa all over again! I do hope it’s an annual event. I know a few readers who would join if it were repeated next year, and I’m in!

You deserved two books, Meredith, for hosting.

    1. Aww! So glad you enjoyed it, Suzan!! It was nice to have an element of surprise and anticipation! I know many readers received the package early enough and were very tempted to open it before the 24th – I know I was.

Oh yay! I would love to do it again next year!
