~ Your Thoughts ~

  • What would you like to see happen on Austenesque Reviews? (some random results)

“I wish I could come up with some useful ideas but I really like your blog and I can’t think of anything I’d change.”

“I loved the group read a few years ago and would like to do that again.”

“Your site is one of my favorites. Keep up the good work. Updates about your adventures with Mr. Bingley are always a delight too!”

“More reviews of movies.”

  • Do you have any other comments or suggestions? (some random results)

“Read faster!”

“I like very much the writing style: elegant, fun and always polite even wen the novel is not as good. That’s very kind of you to choose this way of communication: writing with “sense and sensibility” and with no “pride and prejudice.”

“I would like for the book images to be hyperlinked to Amazon pages. I love the warmth of your personality that comes through in your posts and comments!”

“I appreciate how you invite interaction from your readers by soliciting their opinions and inviting comments.”

Loved reading these answers!  I’m so pleased that many people enjoy AR and want me to continue!  Very glad you don’t mind the rambling on I do about Mr. Bingley!  I’ve printed out all the comments and will definitely take them all to heart. I greatly appreciate the feedback and am so happy to know so much I didn’t know before! I’ve already started linking my book cover images to amazon and I will plan on doing a group read in the future since more than a few people mentioned that in their comments!  Another popular request was for movie reviews….I’ve really never thought of doing those. I love movies, but I’ve never thought people would want to see reviews of them on AR.

And now…without further ado the winner of a Clothbound Classics edition of a Jane Austen novel of their choice is…Eva Edmonds!!!

congrats

Eva, when you get a chance send me an email to let me know which Jane Austen book you’d choose and what address I should send it to!

  1. Ah Meredith I am so pleased for you. You do a great job for us all JA fans and I for one am very grateful to you. I think your site is very easy to navigate so I cannot come up with any good ideas and plus I love hearing about you and Mr. Bingley and your life together. Keep up the fantastic work as I certainly appreciate all you do. It would be brilliant if we could all meet up one day, I would love to meet you and all the other bloggers.

    1. Thank you so much, Michelle! I always look forward to your comments and am ever so grateful for your support! I would love it if we were to meet up one day! Hopefully that will happen! 🙂

  2. It’s so interesting to see your breakdown of the survery, Meredith, and some of the suggestions folk have put forward. I didn’t know you’d had a group read in the past. Was it one of Jane Austen’s own or was it a JAFF novel? Another one, or several if you’re including JAFF (maybe two or three each year?) would be a great thing to be a part of. Reviews of dramatisations of Austen’s own works and associated ones (I’m thinking of such things as Bride and Prejudice, Lost in Austen, the Lizzie Bennet Diaries etc) would also be a lot of fun.

    1. Thank you, Anji! I love make my graphs! We did a group read in 2013 for Abigial Reynolds’s Mr. Darcy’s Noble Connections. I’d probably like to do more JAFF/Austenesque group reads. 🙂 It was great to learn that a group read was so desired!

  3. Excellent results, Meredith. Yay! But I hadn’t realized how very few guys you had visit. Hmm… Well, at least I’ll know who’s reading when I post a comment. 🙂 Keep up the good work, and have a great day.

  4. Ooo, didn’t know you’d had a group read in the past. That would be a fascinating thing to be a part of. Was it one of Austen’s own novels or was it a JAFF one? Another one, or several, couldn’t be a bad thing!

Reviews of dramatisations of the Austen novels and the various other associated dramas would be more than welcome, Meredith.

    1. Ah, I see my earlier post registered after all. My iPad crashed just as I hit Post Comment and when I went back in, the post wasn’t there then. Hey ho, technology is a wonderful thing!

  5. As one of your 26% authors and of your 36% ‘We go way back, baby!’ demographic – and in an effort to come out of the ‘occasionally’ comment category – I’m here to say congratulations, Meredith, on doing things ‘just right’.

Now I should go and ‘just write’ so you might have something of mine to review again one of these days/months/years. In the meantime, please give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back for me.

    1. Aww! Thank you Joanne! I’m so appreciative of such loyal readers like yourself! It is good to know you are out there and that you like coming to visit AR! LOL! Love you turning the phrase like that – you are a master wordsmith! Can’t wait to read more written by you! Do you have a story in the upcoming MP anthology?

  6. I honestly have no idea how long I’ve been following you around Meredith. It feels like I know you even though we’ve never met so I’m thinking it’s been awhile. I always enjoy your posts, no matter what they are on. Your sense of fun, family and Austen is always out there and that always resonates. I know that when I check your blog each morning with my coffee, it’s fun to see what you’ve read and what your thoughts are or to discover a new book I MUST HAVE even though I already have 20 I need to read between class assignments. LOL Keep up the good work sister, glad to see your survey turned up some very positive results, we really like you. =D

    1. I’m glad you’ve stuck around for so long, Stephanie! And I love the idea of you enjoying your morning coffee while reading my posts! I love to read and respond to reader comments each morning too! 😉 It’s great to start your day with Jane Austen! I hope the semester is treating you well and that your load is a little lighter this year! 😉

  7. Really appreciate all the work you continue to do and then share with us. I found it very interesting to learn where I fell in the statistics about your readers, their likes and dislikes. I would like a group read as I wasn’t here when the other one occurred. I don’t know which movies you would review as I always think of this blog as being mainly JAFF. But I know that the Zombie movie is coming out so it would be interesting to get an HONEST opinion as I find that is not my taste in reading. I do know you review books outside of Jane Austen, i.e., Klaussen, Heyer, etc., but I have not seen any movies about their books. I am not surprised at the low number of men as my experience is that few, if any, of the men in my family or among my acquaintances even know what the JA books are about, much less have read them. Thanks again for all your work.

Oh, my son-in-law is one of the few man who do know Jane Austen and several of her stories.

    1. Thank you so much, Sheila! It was fun to see how varied and similar opinions were! If I were to do movie reviews – they would definitely be in keeping with the theme of this blog; either Austenesque or Jane Austen. How I would love for a wonderful movie adaptation of a Georgette Heyer or Julie Klassen novel! That would be so fantastic!

  8. Thanks for sharing your survey results, Meredith. You do a great job and a great service for all of us with your curation of the best of Austenesque. I love the group read idea and would enjoy movie reviews as well. Cheers!

    1. Thank you, Colleen! I’m glad you enjoyed looking at the results! 🙂 I think the group read is definitely going to happen! Will think more about the movie reviews… 😉

  9. Loved this, Meredith. I’m happy to see that my age group is alive and still kicking. This site is probably the first Austen site I started following. I always love your reviews and the personal glimpses into your life with Mr. Bingley – especially your vacations and new house!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it, Robin! I’m so glad you enjoy hearing all about Mr. Bingley and my adventures. I likewise enjoying hearing about your daughters, they both seem so lovely!

      1. How very sweet of you. One of my girls is definitely an Elizabeth Bennet, and the other is a Jane with more backbone.

  10. Thanks for the information, it’s full of details! , for we the readers it’s very interesting and fun to know all these matters!

  11. Thanks for the survey and showing us the results Meredith. You certainly do alot of ‘work’ but your passion always shines through! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to your review on Joana’s new book. I recently bought it and can’t wait to read it myself! I am currently reading a non-JAFF book at the moment (Tasha Alexander’s ‘The Counterfeit Heiress’) and I should be done with it soon, however, I can’t read it before bed as there are scenes that I don’t want to envision before going to sleep! Not that it is gruesome but the scenario for one of the characters makes me anxious! I have everyone of her books and love them but I am not flying through it as I normally do.

    1. My pleasure, Carole! I definitely don’t think of it as work, I love running this blog! Wish it could be my full-time job! LOL! I’ve seen Tasha Alender’s books before, glad to hear you are such a fan of them!

  12. Loved reading your survey results, Meredith! 🙂 Fantastic results, by the way! Thanks for sharing. And thanks for making us feel a part of Austenesque Reviews! 😉

  13. Great to see the results of your survey, Meredith! I’ll definitely bookmark this page and come back to it again and again, but it’s really no surprise that so many people of all ages love to be here and are over the moon with what’s happening at Austenesque Reviews! Pretty please keep it going for many more bloggiversaries, your blog is such a happy place!!!

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed this, Joana! 😉 You are so sweet! I’m glad to know that generally everyone likes the pace and style of things here. I definitely hope to continue on for a long time! 😉

  14. I love your blog & reviews. They are definitely my go to when looking up books to read next.

I might have to agree with one of the suggestions “read faster”. Just because I’m always disappointed when I don’t see your review…

I do miss your Austenesque Admirer posts. It was great getting to know other JAFF readers and find out what other readers enjoy.

Hope you continue your blog and reviews for years to come!

Your conversation and participation are always welcome; please feel free to "have your share."
