Sensitive and Thoughtful Snapshots

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

To be terribly cliché, I’m going to borrow the box of chocolates analogy from Forrest Gump because I feel anthologies truly are like a box of chocolates! One box contains several petite, individual pieces that are distinctive, delectable, and filling if you eat more than one. Oh and yes… “you never know what you’re gonna get.” 😉  And that is why I love them so much!  I was so happy to see that Elizabeth Adams put together an anthology of her own and I love that many of the stories focus on secondary characters from Pride and Prejudice. There are six short stories in total and they range from seven to eighteen pages in length, with the last story being the longest (thirty-seven pages).

The HouseguestWhat if Georgiana Came to Netherfield and Befriended Elizabeth Bennet?

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Source: Gift from Mom 🙂

TIME FRAME: Before the Netherfield Ball to ten months later + Epilogue

MAIN CHARACTERS: Elizabeth Bennet, Georgiana Darcy, Mr. Darcy, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Jane Bennet, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner

WHY I WANTED TO READ THIS NOVEL: The Houseguest came onto my radar back in 2013, when it was only published as an ebook and had loads of favorable of reviews on amazon. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it and have wanted to read it for a long time.  (So glad the author changed her mind about publishing a paperback! Thank you, Ms. Adams!) Variations are one of my favorite types of Austenesque novel and I thought the premise of Georgiana and Elizabeth meeting earlier in the novel an interesting one to explore. Continue reading »
