As you can see, the third installment in Robin Helm’s uplifting and inspirational series opens with an abundance of unanswered questions and possibilities! In this novel, readers witness another chapter in the continuous battle between Good and evil as Darcy and Elizabeth try to parry Satan’s attacks and bring as many souls as they can to salvation. And with signs of the Antichrist and the End of days soon approaching, their time might be running out!
This series truly is magnificent! Witnessing Elizabeth’s and Darcy’s adoration of, reliance on, and willing service for our Lord is utterly inspiring. Their prayers, their praises, and their songs instill strong feelings of gratitude, faith, and peace in me. This series inspires me to have better faith, work on my relationship with God, and be a better Christian. Talk about powerful literature!
While I adore Robin Helm’s skillful writing and uplifting prose, there is one aspect to this series that I dohave a small quibble about, and that’s when Darcy and Elizabeth sometimes seem like paragons (mostly in Legacy). With their advanced abilities, outpouring of talents and blessings, and nearly blemish-free personalities, Darcy, Elizabeth, and their world sometimes feels a little removed from the reader. They aren’t “pictures of perfection,” but they perhaps are not as accessible as I would have liked.
I asked and answered this question in my review of Guardian with a “not so much.” Now having read all three installments in this series, my answer remains the same. Characters like Darcy, Elizabeth, Caroline, Wickham, and Charlotte share some similarities with their Regency counterparts, but other than that, there aren’t many parallels or connections to Pride and Prejudice. This is one of those times where the author could have used other character names, cut ties with Jane Austen, and still have a fantastic, stand alone story. But as for me, I’m so very glad she did use Jane Austen’s characters! This book would have been completely under my radar without the Jane Austen connection!
This glorious and heavenly trilogy is definitely a MUST for readers who enjoy tender romances, exhilarating action, inspiring testaments of faith, and angels! I most assuredly recommend!
With the ending left open a little, this reader is clinging to the hope that this isn’t the last we see of Xander/Darcy, Elizabeth, and the SoulFire team…perhaps there will be a spin-off trilogy about Michael??? *crosses fingers* 😉
